Reaching 17 hours of gameplay (approximately 1 hour spend for MP). Now i'm stuck at underwater boss on hard difficulty. Wish the fov is a bit wider because i can't anticipate that tentacle monster movement. But still, i'm having lots of fun playing this one as i'm not really enthusiastic about fps / shooter genre anymore, so i'm not expecting and groundbreaking or revolutionary. Feel it worth the money i paid. Btw, i'm still on my first playthrough, 15 - 16 hours for first playthrough single player campaign.. that must mean i'm terrible at fps.

QUOTE(TiF @ Jul 7 2011, 09:53 AM) lol, u want to see tentacle raping them? They don't really have a major part in the game.but damn, i always thought that twins play a major role in the game coz can see them almost everywhere that related to Duke - trailer, poster, etc. Heck, most of the time I don't even remember their presences. |

Ok.
DNF is fun, I mean funny to play. It brings back the b-comedy element of DN 3D with tons of reference and wanton gameplay. Anyone who plays DN3D back in the 90's will recognize the slapstick humor is still intact (because that is what Duke Nukem is all about). The REASON why DNF disappoint is, the consolisation' of PC ports 1) limited weapon carrying. 2) Regenerate health (Gearbox actually has a quote 'think Ego (the health) as your shield... :|) 3) Not many variety of enemy to kill. 4) Graphic based on Unreal 2.5 engine which couldn't take the advantage of modern PC power. 5) WHERE THE HELL IS THE MIGHTY FOOT? 6) FOV and UI which are based on console. 7) No more enemy death sound... (I miss the howling scream of Assault trooper in DN3D... For those who hasn't buy it, wait for discount. |

I'm trying to spread some good words about DNF since i don't think most reviewers gave fair score and points. Below was taken from gearbox forum. It was well written and fair and at the same time the writer didn't make any cheap shot or dig at other modern FPS game:
QUOTE I agree with everyone here. I picked Duke Forever Up a couple of days ago, and played through the whole game twice, once on "Come get some", and once on "Damn im good" and honestly, the game was awesome! I didn't think i'd like the whole "Ego" thing very much, and I wasn't too keen on the whole two weapon limit, nor was I expecting anything special from the third person driving sections. . . . but once I actually sat down to play the game, it all made sense. The health system actually helped pump up the games pace, because instead of taking things slow and constantly having to seek out medical kits, I could just duck around a corner, wait for my health to charge and then dive right back into the action. The two gun limit actually made a lot of levels that much more intese (especially when I was going for the "carry your pistol through the entire game" achievement at the same time, as I could only ever swap out one weapon for another) because I always got to a point where it was like "do I go for all out stopping power with a devastator/rocket launcher/shrinker and hope I'm fortunate enough to find more ammo for them in between every battle? Or do I go for weapons like the freeze ray/shotgun/machinegun so I know I'll always have enough rounds left in my gun to get the job done? Even the driving part, once I got the controls down, it was a lot of fun just tearing through the desert at full speed, smashing things to pieces, driving up cliffs, jumping over chasms and running down enemies. That vehicle was agile, maneuvarable, and dam near unstoppable! i loved it ^^ And the final boss battle was FREAKING EPIC! Most boss battles in games are nothing special because your character is too well equipped by the time you reach them (Even Duke3D for example, by the time I got to the bosses I always had full ammo in the devastator and rocket launcher, AND I had steroids and a portable medkit ontop of that, and even then they had extra ammo and items lying around. It made fighting the things pathetically easy) But the Final Boss in Duke Forever, even if you had two fully loaded weapons, and steroids, AND beer going into the fight like I did, they start you with nothing but your pistol! And knowing that you have to kill the enemies to keep your ammo coming was nothing short of brilliant in my opinion, and led to some truly heartpounding moments. . . like when I was fighting the boss on Insane difficulty, I was mid way through the second battle (after you've downed him once and he got back up) when I totally ran out of ammo! There were no guns left ANYWHERE on the level, and an Enforcer had just landed. I ended up having to run up to him, punch him a couple times, then tear off running in the other direction while I waited for my health to recharge, all the while having to dodge attacks from the boss and the Enforcer, and then run back over and do it all again. It felt like forever but I finally managed to kill him, get his gun, and fight my way back to full ammo and finish the fight. I have never played anything that intense in a LONG time. Even the little touches like being able to microwave popcorn, watch porn on the pc, and the clocks and in game Calenders matching the month/time you're playing, it showed a level of detail and polish that most games fail to even bother with. Then you had the shrunken levels like Duke Burger and the Casino Level where you drive the little RC car, something that you'd never expect to see in a "modern" FPS, and you know what? They were awesome! Every level in the game had its own unique feel, its own puzzles and its own flow, it kept the game fresh and interesting. Most FPS games are a lot of fun, but pretty repetitive as you play through them because the levels are more or less all the same and the game themselves are more or less the same as any other, but Duke, from the dialogue to the level design to the crazy situations you ran into throughout, (Like the awesome stripclub sequence ) it stood out from the pack in a lot of ways and I don't see how anyone can call DNF generic. Was it perfect? Not quite. But was it fun? Hell yea!!!! Having finished the game, I'm definitely hoping they come out with a sequel. But for gods sake don't take another 14 years to do it http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?t=126912 |

Wedbush: Take-Two's Quality Focus To Bring Share Price Back Post-Duke Nukem
![]() QUOTE While Take-Two's stock has suffered of late thanks to the negative reception of Duke Nukem Forever and a handful of game delays over the last several months, Wedbush analysts Michael Pachter, Edward Woo, and Nick McCay say the company is set to recover its share price thanks to its regular lineup of quality games. Wedbush stated in a recent investor note, "Take-Two’s share price has stalled due to numerous game delays and disappointing reviews of Duke Nukem Forever, but we expect Take-Two’s commitment to high quality games to translate into consistent profits and share price appreciation." Despite lowering expectations for Take-Two in the wake of Duke Nukem, Wedbush expressed confidence in the publisher's ability to produce consistent profits. "Of the major publishers, Take-Two has had the fewest 'misses' in terms of game quality over the last two years, and as a result, delivered a profitable FY:11 without a Grand Theft Auto release," the firm said. Wedbush also noted that the recent delay of the Darkness II from Q4 2011 to Q3 2012 will have minimal effect on Take-Two's revenue estimates for the fiscal year, which dropped to $1.6 billion from $1.8 billion. In addition, the firm projected that the company is set to reach a $20 share price within the next 12 months, noting that this estimate "reflects improved profitability and consistent execution" for the publisher. Currently, Take-Two's share price sits at $14.16, though it has dropped as low as $7.98 within the last 52 weeks. Last month, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said that the company would continue to work with the Duke Nukem IP regardless of critical reception of its latest release, suggesting that the publisher may even take the franchise to realms outside of video games. Duke Nukem Sketches Commander Shepard's Portrait
QUOTE On the surface, The Duke acts like a tough, smart-mouthed bad-ass who only takes time away from blasting aliens to make fun of people. But deep down inside Mr. Nukem there is an artist. An artist who appreciates Mass Effect's Commander Shepard enough to draw him on a whiteboard. Duke Nukem finally figures out what's wrong in The Shining's Overlook Hotel
QUOTE It's difficult to imagine The Shining being any more terrifying than its original release, but Duke Nukem has never cared much about impossible odds, and it's taken on the challenge like a champ. Film fanatic and analyst Rob Ager has compiled a video dissecting the spatial anomalies in The Shining's Overlook Hotel, as discovered through a Duke Nukem 3D mod attempting to recreate the building. Ager describes the impossible hallways, windows, apartments and stairways littering the Overlook that lend Kubrick's movie a subconsciously eerie, something's not quite right vibe. Ager's detailed analysis borders on crazed obsession, but it provides thrilling insight into a classic film -- we just think he should take a vacation after this one. After all, all work and no play... Source: Joystiq |

Duke Nukem Forever DLC Parodies Call Of Duty, Team Fortress 2, And More
![]() QUOTE If you thought Duke was dead, think again. Gearbox has announced a new "Hail to the Icons Parody Pack" containing four new multiplayer maps. The DLC pack will feature four maps, each of which pokes fun at other popular shooters. For example, the "Call of Duke" map (pictured above) is a clear play on Modern Warfare and its ilk. "Inferno" mocks Doom right down to 16-bit graphics and a new "DFG" gun, and "2Forts1Bridge" clearly toys with a classic Team Fortress map. I'm not totally certain what the "Sandpit" map is taking off, but I'm thinking maybe Battlefield Halo? In addition to the maps, the pack will contain new game modes such as Freeze Tag and Hot Potato. You can check out the Gearbox forums for full details. The pack will be available on all three Duke platforms (360, PS3, and PC) this fall, with players registered as members of the First Access Club getting it for free. Anyone looking forward to more Duke Nukem multiplayer or has the majority of the audience already moved on from this title? Source: Game Informer |

QUOTE(kianweic @ Jul 27 2011, 09:12 PM) Wow, can't wait for this. My soon to be first ever DLC, before this i'm against DLC but this time it is Duke Nukem. talexeh, it seem i need your help again when this DLC finally released. But on the other hand, i'm sad Duke Nukem now living with the popularity of other popular cultural reference. It seems without those, Duke Nukem is kinda hard to stand with his own two feet. |

Hail to the King, Baby!
The next patch is in progress. Finally we can get better FOV: QUOTE The development team has been hard at work combing through the feedback provided here and elsewhere, with updates based on this feedback currently in the works for all three platforms. Among the changes coming to PC are a new expanded inventory option that allows you to carry up to four weapons in the single-player campaign, Valve Anti-Cheat System (VAC) support, push-to-talk voice chat, the ability to adjust FOV plus other fixes and improvements that are still being tested. We’ll be sharing more details about the updates, including those coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, as they’re finalized. Thanks again for your support! http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?t=127850 |
