Hai there, I'm a TP-Link TDW8960N user. I've been having this Strict NAT issue while playing Warframe. It was perfectly fine when I first got the router, then suddenly I have been getting the Strict NAT pop-up on my screen, every time I log into the game.

Without port forwarding, I get "Strict NAT. UPnP malfunctioning" error. and with port forwarding, I get "Strict NAT. No UPnP or NAT-PMP detected". I even set up a static IP address, trying to fix the issue. To no avail.

I can actually play with friends and random peeps, as long as I'm not the host (peer to peer thingy). But I would prefer to be able to be the host as well. I'm the only one who's playing Warframe in the household and I am on wifi connection because router's outside.

I appreciate it if anyone can try and help with my issue. Thanks.

I believe it is due to you are being allocated a private IP by your ISP and nothing to do with the router.

TM have been allocating private IP to their users instead of public IP recently. You can verify by checking the IP address from your router page. If it is something starting from 10.xx.xx.xx, it is private IP.

Huh, that's interesting. So....if I decide to port forward, I just use the IP from the router?

No. Port forwarding when you are allocated a private IP address or if your IP address on your router is not private IP address but if your WAN IP address on TM side is still under private IP address, will not work.

TLDR: Port forwarding won't work for you, if you are being allocated a private IP address. You have to call your ISP to change yours to a public IP address.

Ah alright. I will give them a call. Thanks.

Sorry for the double post.

I've solved the strict NAT issue and now I can decently host squad runs in Warframe. I just remembered my other issue is that when the phone is being used, the connection drops. My old modem never gave me that problem. Any ideas?
