I need some help here.. currently using time..
main router--> ax20 [2.4GHz SSID_1, 5GHZ SSID_2] IP 192.168.0.1
AP mode--> AC1200 from unifi (flashed eu firmware) [2.4GHz SSID_3] IP 192.168.0.254

AX20 LAN-to-LAN AC1200..

The purpose i set up AC1200 as ap mode is to separate out my IoT device to this router to lower the load for ax20. I only enable 2.4Ghz on AC1200 with diff SSID_3 and password..
when i check the router page for ax20, my IoT devices still show in ax20 wireless client and DHCP server list. I check on AC1200 router page 0 wireless client. Is this behavior normal as ap mode?
Noted, i already check on my IoT devices, they are connected to SSID_3.

Hello, you connect to AC1200 SSID and show in AX20 clients side right?
Is the DHCP disabled or enabled on the AP Router? I am sure maybe it is normal.
Last time my school set an Access Point and clients shown in the main router instead of AP Router.

I also try at home and show on the main router instead of AP one.

Thanks.

thanks for trying out!

Since you are on AP mode, the networking is still handled by the AX20. Thus, all the connected IoT devices will show up. The C1200 only handle the wireless link.

Honestly, if I were you, I will just stick to the AX20. I doubt offloading some IoT clients will help much considering the AX20 is quite a powerful router.

2.4Ghz is already congested enough especially for a condo.

Thanks for your explanation! guess i just drop my idea and stick with AX20. Do you happen to know how many wireless client can AX20 handle? <50?

hi all,

I need some recommendation. I'm on times 100Mbps using Tplink Ax20 right now. I had Cat7 pulled to my study room. Please recommend me best budget one mesh enabled wifi router.

I will like to setup in my study room as secondary to boost signal to my master room.

I'm not considering switching to deco or getting higher end to replace as main router and existing ax20 as secondary as i'm only on 100Mbps line and not planning on upgrading. Mainly due to budget constraints biggrin.gif

Thanks!! notworthy.gif

AX20? One Mesh is not the same as AiMesh.
Cannot connect router with router through One Mesh.
Router with range extender only. If you plan to use as Access Point then no problem but maybe need to use different SSID.

Oh understand.. so is router + ranger extender only... router + router will not work?

why i will need to use different SSID if i got for ap?

You can use the same, but not sure will it will affect the speed and connection.
It won't work router with router. It is different from AiMesh from Asus.
