Dogs cannot eat the seeds of fruits....
So never give your dogs apples with the seeds still in... watermelon also.... make sure all seeds taken out. Oranges make dogs get diarrhea.... messy messy and tummy ache for dogs. Grapes, raisins, poisonous to the dogs.... forgot what it would cause but the skin and the seeds are toxic. |

Actually, alcohol can only be given in very small amounts.... the best is beer but too much can damage the liver and kidney of the dog. Vodka and Tequila may cause some bad side effects and damage to a dog.
The only animal that can tolerate large amounts of alcohol like humans are pigs. |

Quoted from http://www.treshanley.com/cic/dangerousfoods.html
QUOTE Grapes and Raisins: Grapes and raisins can cause kidney failure in dogs. As little as a single serving of raisins can kill a dog. Onions: Onions destroy red blood cells and can cause anemia. Chocolate: Chocolate can cause seizures, coma and death. Baker's chocolate is the most dangerous. A dog can consume milk chocolate and appear to be fine because it is not as concentrated, but it is still dangerous. Coffee, Coffee grounds, tea and tea bags: Drinks/foods containing caffeine cause many of the same symptoms chocolate causes Macadamia Nuts and Walnuts: Macadamia nuts can cause weakness, muscle tremor and paralysis. Limit all other nuts as they are not good for dogs in general, their high phosphorous content is said to possibly lead to bladder stones. Exception to this rule seems to be PEANUT BUTTER. However- always use Salt/Sugar free ORGANIC Peanut butter (sugar encourages cancer growth) free . Use only ORGANIC peanut butter as regular peanut butter has lots of toxins and is full of pesticides! Animal fat and fried foods: Excessive fat can cause pancreatitis. Bones: Cooked bones can splinter and damage a dog's internal organs. Raw Bone should always be supervised as a piece can always break off and cause problems. Try frozen oxtails or frozen knuckle bones then take the bone away before the dog can swallow a final small piece whole. It's a good natural way to clean teeth too. Tomatoes: Tomatoes can cause tremors and heart arrhythmias. Tomato plants and the most toxic, but tomatoes themselves are also unsafe. Avocados: The fruit, pit and plant are all toxic. They can cause difficulty breathing and fluid accumulation in the chest, abdomen and heart. Nutmeg: Nutmeg can cause tremors, seizures and death Apples, Cherries, Peaches SEEDS and similar fruit are great for your dog - HOWEVER, the seeds of these fruits contain cyanide, which is poisonous to dogs as well as humans. Unlike humans, dogs do not know to stop eating at the core/pit and easily ingest them. It can also become lodged in the intestines and kill the dog in 24 hours with no warning. Raw eggs: Raw eggs can cause salmonella poisoning in dogs. Dogs have a shorter digestive tract than humans and are not as likely to suffer from food poisoning, but it is still possible. BEST to use ORGANIC EGGS if you do raw. Scrambled lightly is best! Salt: Excessive salt intake can cause kidney problems. Mushrooms: Can be deadly- never let your pets chew on mushrooms found in your yard. Only safe "food" mushrooms are shitaki, maitake and reishi. Xylitol: even a small amount can cause liver failure and death. Read more at MSNBC news click here. Sugar and Corn Syrups. EVEN ORGANIC IS BAD! (this does not include Honey or Molasses though they should only be in small amounts and never for cancer dogs) Added on March 21, 2007, 11:39 pmFrom http://www.care2.com/c2c/groups/disc.html?...27122&archival= Grapes / Raisins: Essentially unheard of prior to 2001, raisin and grape toxicity has become increasingly recognized as a real danger to pets. Although previously deemed as harmless treats, research has determined grapes and raisins have been linked to kidney failure in both dogs and cats. The toxic substance in grapes and raisins is unknown, as is the amount required to produce toxicity. Since 1989, the ASPCA has documented many cases of raisin and grape toxicity, and more recently (2001) it has been officially recognized as a toxin to animals. Studies of documented cases show estimated amounts of grapes or raisins eaten ranged from nine ounces to two pounds, with symptoms occurring within approximately 6 hours of ingestion. Symptoms include vomiting, loss of appetite, sluggishness, and abdominal pain. Testing found elevated blood calcium levels, as well as elevated levels of blood urea nitrogen, creatinine and phosphorous - all substances that affect kidney function. The result is the development of acute renal (kidney) failure, within as little as 3 days of ingestion. Yeast Dough: Uncooked yeast dough is very harmful to animals. When ingested the yeast will "rise" in the stomach, causing the dough to increase to several times it's size. Because the dough will often expand to several times it's size, it poses the danger of expanding your pets stomach. In addition to this, fermenting dough produces alcohol. Thus, ingesting yeast dough can lead to alcohol toxicity. Beer, Alcohol, and Tobacco: In a dog, alcohol can cause weakness, depression, and staggering. Tobacco can cause drooling, vomiting, weakness, and coma. This post has been edited by crazymouse_yyh: Mar 21 2007, 11:39 PM |

Thanks Crazymouse and Snowcandy for the listing. I have a Spitz last time which peel oranges for desert but anyway will make sure that oranges does not go near my furkid anymore. Currently my JRT Shadow eats baby carrots (his top choice), cabbage, corn: which I will take off from his menu, guava, mengkuang, vanilla ice cream (will automatically comes to you when you open the fridge)well, he knows whats in there for him. Basically, he loves every food that he can munch on but we as the owner have to control.. pheww.

QUOTE(rourou @ Mar 27 2007, 11:01 PM) yeast dough means uncooked bread. The bread we eat, a bit as treats for our dog is ok but too much can cause bloating.... but the raw yeast dough can expand more than bread... so kinda dangerous to give raw yeast dough. |

Yes. I take that as bread= yeast dough.. Trying to avoid that and all the dairy stuffz too coz my furkid seems to have fungus after that. We've used to give him yogurt as topping to his dinner everyday but stop when we noticed his fur shedding excessively.
Even my furkid dreamt of yogurt everynight..well we jst replaces it with mybeau for his dinner. At least he got something he look forward for every dinner time.. Yeah! |

Fruits, as long you do not give the seed part then ok lah.
100 Plus is ok if the gas is gone. Coz not all dogs can burp and it can lead to bloat or a twisted stomach if the gas is trap inside the tummy for too long. |

let me add some...
Why eating uncooked bread dough can cause bloating? it is because, in the dough preparation, we normally add yeast [Mauripan or ibu roti or whatever]..when yeast utilized the dought, besides making the dough expand, they [yeast] also produces some gaseous as a side product of they fermentation..thats can lead to bloating effect |

Hi hi,
I read somewhere to prevent dogs from having ticks is to mix few drops of vinegar to the drinking water. Is this true ahh?? Dogs have no problem with vinegar rite? |

QUOTE(Escudo @ Mar 29 2007, 03:16 PM) Hi hi, Har? No... never heard of this and I do not think vinegar would help from the inside. If you bath your dog with pickled lemon water and let it dry itself then yes, ticks would stay away. Beef attracts more ticks. Kerosene and petrol... never ever use. My uncle did that before coz his friends told him to do coz his dog so many ticks. Yah, the ticks really all died but the poor dog got itchy skin and whole body was red. So much irritation and the dog was damn smelly. So never ever use this old method. |

Pickeled lemon water you can't really buy... you have to make... I can't remember the recipe but it involves boiling water and some salt, then stuffing as many lemons as possible in a jar and let the jar sit a few days before using the water. This treatment can treat mites and certain fungus...Pickled lemon water -> how can I get that? Added on March 29, 2007, 5:43 pmMy fren taught me to steam rice with garlic. Is that effective? Anyway, you buy herbal parasite shampoo is easier.... Garlic is effective... but you must not give more than 1cm a day to a dog... coz too much garlic can cause some blood disorder later on. |
