there are no such thing as best and lasting. Any stop cork will have a piece of rubber in it and after times it will wear out and needs to be changed.

Which type would be best suitable? Brass ? Plastic ? Any other materials?
The common one found are brass and plastic type but i find the plastic type tends to be more durable? Of course not those low graded stop cork plastic type.. |

Brass, and with rubber stopper. Ceramic that turn 1/4 round will not last.

yes but any type as well runs on the same theory. They will need a piece of rubber in there to stop the water from flowing when you turn it off. If its metal to metal its never going to create the seal affect

To me cosmetic not that important ..
What is most important is durable and gives no problem .. I have both plastic type and rubber type now both giving problem leaking hence need to change.. I've the ball type on my washing machine there and one at beside my WC (to use to wash buttock) and find them rather very solid built.. |

QUOTE(shinchan99 @ May 25 2017, 02:03 PM) Where do you plan to use it for? I believe both are equally good. From my personal knowledge SS is just coating, the underlining still brass, i have few SS and the top layer came off. This post has been edited by weikee: May 25 2017, 02:16 PM |

QUOTE(weikee @ May 25 2017, 02:03 PM) Mine exactly the same, only if need to turn it need some strength after that is ok. Perhaps quality have drop compared to 20 yrs ago product. The top screw also rust, change once before. Yes, the bad point is the handle. Mostly using paint to coat. Once scratch off, it rust. The screw too. This valve is 3/4 size. Need some strength. |

QUOTE(shinchan99 @ May 26 2017, 08:38 AM) What do you mean by conceal into wall? including the valve and expose the level only? I am not sure if there such ball valve with long neck like the brass, without long neck is hard to conceal into the wall without exposing large area. Bass/SS rubber type definitely can because i have few conceal, and just make sure you have access to the nut at the neck, less hassle if need to change the rubber. |

Because i just check with my contractor he told me if i want to use these type of ball valve, I wont be able to conceal the valve body onto the wall just like our normal stop cork .. Just like what you said the neck is not long enough for the valve to turn after concealing the body.. |

If don't have just use the normal brass valve with rubber there is proper name for it (maybe is called globe or shutoff valve) |

The turn valve there or the threaded inlet outlet piping area? |

QUOTE(shinchan99 @ May 26 2017, 08:38 AM) If you want to conceal into the wall, better use the brass valve. In case of leaking, simply replace the worn off cartridge without hacking the wall. Parts are pretty standard size and easily available too. |

I was in a similar situation two weeks ago, looking for a good check valve for my home irrigation system. I needed it fast and found an online valve shop with worldwide delivery.
I placed an order, and it arrived in just five days. The valve was great quality and has been working perfectly since I installed it. If you need a reliable valve quickly, I'd recommend checking them out. This post has been edited by djmarcus: Jun 17 2024, 11:28 PM |
