They refused to repair coz of body got dent, whilst the dent was there since long. The problem was that the screen was not responsive.

Nevertheless, it was there since the iPod is in warranty and now no more.

My plan is to take it back and ask Machines to repair it.

And they are quoting RM100 for cancelation fee. What is that? I'm not gonna pay a cent for sure. First time hearing that. Anyone experiencing that before?

IF not mistaken at machines, if got any dent even at any part of the body they likely to reject .

They said this "might affect" the screen/any problem indirectly.

Ex machines staff.

Had exactly the same problem and machines refused to fix for free due to dent, but they didn't charge me anything though

The RM100 can consider as "inspection fee". No payment no collection tho. High cost of rental no choice. Yes I did pay for it.

MacCity huh, I never bother to deal with them after I got bad experience with them.

Last time my iPad 3 power button not responsive send to MacCity Melaka, they took few days to so-called 'inspect', I wait until fed up. Collected back and waste some petrol go MV Northpoint Machines directly.

Guess what, they did the inspection on the spot, yes on the spot not like MC take few days but do nothing and the power button is really spoiled but too bad they need me to leave my iPad there and I did so.

Had a 'fight' with them yesterday, keep on changing their story yada yada. The managers are unprofessional. All other staff keep their mouth shut as I raised my voice. Couldn't help it since they just try to beat around the bush.

Long story short, I am waiting for their email on this matter & most probably will launch another report on top of this mishap. The most ridiculous thing is that my iPod was in warranty period when i submitted & now is out of warranty.

The reason was so ridiculous and they refused to take out the iPod for me to inspect them myself. Which, i am doubtful that my iPod is still there TBH.

call Apple Hotline 1800-803-638 and ask for their assistance.
if your iPod was in warranty, then they should have submitted a report to Apple and that at least is some kind of proof.
is there any sign / notice saying that customers must pay for "cancelation" ?

My iPhone was dented, Machine KLCC honor the battery warranty claim without issues, they just made a remark in the receipt as it was, and 3 days later I get my iPhone back with the new battery replaced.

they said that they will email me today, though there are still 2.5 hours left before midnight, but the mail still didnt hit my inbox.

they did not honour their words.

it is safe to say here that if you have any issue with your apple devices, PLEASE DONT BRING THEM TO MAC CITY, OU. the staff there are not competent with their job, made broken promises, made up stories to beat around the bush, late on replying customers, failed to call in within time frame, and have lousy attitude. tqvm

lets see what they are gonna say when i call them first in the morning tomorrow..

They are indeed..

I called them on Friday and they mentioned that all of their managers are in the meeting and will get back to me ASAP. I asked how fast is the ASAP? She said definitely on Monday morning for sure, while she assure me that she will ask them to revert back on Friday (after the meeting) itself.

Nevertheless, comes Monday, to my surprise, no bells are ringing.

I called them on Monday evening (about 4-ish) and they said that the case is in the management (i don't exactly know what does it mean)? and they will call me in the morning next day (which is today - Tuesday). Well, today's morning is just 13 minutes left before noon, cross fingers that they will call anytime now..

They are not honour to their words, and they are a bunch of liars..

yeah..in the maccity paper, they do write that there will be a RM100 inspection fee if you end up not repairing. So it's hard to argue since you already sign the paper.

I think you can argue from the perspective of the warranty. The ipod is underwarranty when you send it in. You should call apple directly on this matter. They will have the power to override whatever maccity management decide. I did this when I claim my iphone which was already out of warranty but I manage to get it fixed for free. They swap the whole phone for me instead. Nice! smile.gif

@croomaniac
1. Have you called Apple as I suggested earlier? Since your warranty claim is with them, and not a MacCity product, I think you should call them first.
2. When you call Apple, ask them to confirm that MacCity is allowed to charge for inspection fees.

I called that number to no avail, but i googled and got another number. So I got to talk to the Apple reps..

Anyway, to an update, I got a call from the manager late on the afternoon saying that they have made a management meeting yada yada and waived my RM50.. Initially it was RM100 but what they told me the other hand was RM50. I was kinda shocked because:

[1] They refused to send me any email. YES. Because when they send me the email, I will write in length about what had happened yada yada. That leave them with a black and white evidence, which they took it easily by just call me, not emailing
[2] To waive RM50 of cancellation fee needed a management meeting? That would take maybe a bunch of guys - maybe 5 of them, that may require 1 hour at least, which can be counted as 5 man hours, with a minimum (roughly) RM100 per man hour which transelate to RM500 worth of manpower (at least) just to decide to waive a RM50 cancellation fee?
[3] They didnt mention about the warranty length of the devices which was under their possession and to assist me for the repair

Hurmm.. Continue with the apple reps:

[1] They can help me about this matter but need me to take the item back from Mac City
[2] They can't confirm on can help but at least they can try

End of apple reps guy. I will take back the ipod anytime soon (hopefully tomorrow) and will contact back them to further assist me.

All of the issues may not happen if i bring the ipod to Machines, well at least they don't do shit like this to me before. I've sent few of my devices for repair and replacement, with no question asked and with proper manner and promises. Just no where near what Mac City had been doing to me. I am totally frustrated with what they have done to me. No more Mac City for me.

Just speaking from my POV since i deal with Apple for quite a while.

On top of everything, iPod and iPad is not repairable even if it is just a small issue like home button isn't functioning, the repair will be based on whole-unit replacement, and thus the reason why they rejected to honor your device for warranty claim due to your physical dent, and yes it is stated on the Apple Limited Warranty T&C under the (B) section of "WHAT IS NOT COVERED BY THIS WARRANTY?". (if you asked how the other member mentioned his/her device was claimable for the battery issue even with cosmetic dent, since his/her problem was solvable by same-unit repair, it is claimable.)

To me it seems like MacCity handled the warranty rejection unprofessionally and thus leading to this issue, always contact AppleCare if you faces issue with Apple Authorised Service Provider/Premium Service Provider, complaining to their higher management will not solve the issue as in the end, they are not Apple afterall.

Incase you are wondering, there is no Apple in Malaysia except for the office in Menara CIMB which doesn't handle after-sale service.

I'm not in anyway affiliated with Apple, so there might be wrong information in this post, as mentioned above, always contact AppleCare if you faces issue with their product.
