Mine get a tank each, a PVC T pipe to sleep in and chew on, a mug, cardboard sometimes to chew, a glass bowl and delikate shavings. I wanna change them back to BC when I can afford it.

Waa... Pet Safari really wants to get rid of that fat tail. Last time I heard it was RM300, then drop to RM150, now RM130? Poor thing.

Ha? No, they're usually around RM1xx to RM2xx. If someone is selling higher than that, then it's overpriced.
Fat tails are harder to breed and difficult to breed commercially. They can't really be housed together very well and the outcome could get very messy. Just mating will result in the male suffering as the female will always try to fight him off. It takes time and they can't stay together after the female has conceived or she will probably kill him. Fat tails, however, make very nice pets and have longer lifespan than your average hamster or gerbil. It is also considerably rare. May have some available by the next 2 months or so. Hopefully. So Stay tuned! |

QUOTE(blurjoey @ Jan 7 2008, 05:01 PM) The pet shop in Giant Cheras have told me that the price for gerbils have doubled to RM400-500 May take a bit longer, as the pregnancy and stuff is a bit unpredictable.Reanne: March 2008 ar? Keep me posted. Should have saved enough for the fat-tail and it's new home. This is what I compiled for fat-tail: - 2 feet tank or zoozone1 (since fat-tail can't jump like their cousins the mongolian gerbils then can get the zoozone1 due to the cover with bars on top about 2cm wide) - Drift wood - Prestige Hamster - Beddings (BC or the Aspen I bought from Foo) - Ceramic bowls x2 (1 for food and 1 for bathing sand) - Bathing Sand - PVC T-pipe or ceramic/wooden house - Water bottle - Sanko wild 21cm silent wheel (optional) Er... Hope I didn't miss anything... Not yet calculate meal worms and fresh veges and fruits. Can they eat dog food like hamsters? Everything seems fine except for the silent wheel. You can try it but some fat tails will chew on anything, including an expensive wheel, so that one is up to you. Yes, they can take dog food but not the cheap brands. Aspen bedding is the best woodshavings. The next best is the ones made from recycled newspaper. The PVC pipe how much are you getting for? I have some extras if you like. The rest on the list are fine. They love mealworms and crickets in general, but some individuals don't or don't know how to eat. |

lol
You can get BC after your current bedding finishes. Corncob and Aspen is already quite good for now. Don't need to buy, you can try getting some sample packs instead, better since they don't eat a lot of dog food. |

Pokey so cute la. She tucked the babies in fresh tissue then went to play with her cardboard and chew it up. Then she moved the huge piece here and there, now it's stripped on one side. lol

Yea, since 1.5 years+ ago. They're very difficult to breed and the process is time consuming. So far only managed to produce 3 batches. This one's the third.

Not really. To court them, there's always a risk of the female killing the male. To get the highest success, you need to keep them together in a small space. But this heightens the chance of the female killing the male. That's why it's difficult.
What's more difficult is, the female will resist and it's very unlikely you will ever see them mate, so you won't know if they've mated or not. She can resist for as long as a few days to a week. While the courting the female is very likely to sever the males' tail and the male will not fight back. Basically, it's a difficult and time consuming process. |

If you've already booked the GP from someone then it's better to keep your word. If you booked from a pet store, then can cancel lor, in the end it's up to you.
