hmm...i wonder y u guys like lower tension strings....i'm using .012 - .056 gauge, coz my guitar are setup for low action...so using low tension strings will coz alot buzzing...EXP are great strings,Elixir would be great too,but i never like Cleartone, very expensive and not nice too play...
as for barre chord, try not to put too much pressure on the thumb, try to be more relax, hope it helps... |

Any1 knows where to get good mics...shure...sennheiser??if i use a mic to record my guitar playing...do i need an external soundcard or a preamp sort of things??
Oh yea....if ur nails are weak....u can try buffing it...it will improve ur nail condition slowly |

QUOTE(BlueSilver @ May 29 2008, 01:45 PM) strife01: Where's Kodiang? hmm...reevex: i think a shure mic is recommended however i haven't try it out myself. I use my microcube sort of as a preamp and i didn't use any external soundcard. Can explain what's buffing? anyway buffing means sort of like file the surface of ur nails until it becomes shinny...u can go to any manicure shop n ask abt it.....the buffer can be bought at pharmacies n body shops... |

QUOTE(strife01 @ May 30 2008, 01:38 AM) Haha... I don't like to keep fingernails, they tend to attract dirts. Usually i cut it even the exposed length is less than 1mm. lol...totally opposite from u....can't play without nails haha...but maintaining ur nails is really alot of work....i averagely spend abt 2 hours every week juz to shaped my nails n buff it....lol QUOTE(BlueSilver @ May 30 2008, 01:46 AM) Hehe....juz like Tommy Emmanuel...play without nailsQUOTE(Everdying @ May 30 2008, 02:18 AM) simon & patrick songsmith, RM1.5k b4 discount. wow...that's very cheap for a full solid....http://www.simonandpatrick.com/spsngsmith_...y07_acstgtr.pdf This post has been edited by ReeveX.com: May 30 2008, 05:42 PM |

QUOTE(echobrainproject @ Jun 3 2008, 02:27 AM) any tips on keeping nails? and how to fully use it to get a nice sound especially when plucking. Cool....ur using big baby rite, actually i like elixir strings...the touch is nice, but new strings tend to be vey slippery,i wonder you've encounter this problem,so now i keep to dean markley alchemist or blue steel, sometimes will use d'addario exp too...soundcheck today i got someone to play my acoustic while i went out to hear from the house system. i'm impressed with my fishman pickups considering the price i paid for it. the string's character really came out nicely (so it means gotta stock up on more elixirs especially before shows). Hmm...i'm using fishman pickups too....rare earth blend...sounds superb especially i played some percussive thingy on it.... try buffing ur nails....it'll improve the nail's condition....but it's alot of work.... QUOTE(LovesReborn @ Jun 3 2008, 02:25 PM) i think nail keeping methods differ for each guitarist, especilly when they are playing different styles. yup...different ppl have different ideas of keeping nails....juz need to find the one method that's best for ourselvesfor me, i just keep it slightly above my finger tips. so that i can actually make the plucking sound to be more ..."powerful"?, hard to explain... it is like short busts of sounds...like those jazzy type... QUOTE(Bigblock @ Jun 3 2008, 02:52 PM) I am still new to guitars but each time i cut my nails i feel playing is alot different...maybe i'm still new of coz lo....the touch is totally different...sound oso...some ppl can't play without nails(me)...some plays greatly without nails(Tommy Emmanuel)...lol |

QUOTE(echobrainproject @ Jun 4 2008, 01:28 AM) whats buffing nails? yup...i've heard neo-d is very good....it's a passive pickup rite....mine is a active version with a condeser mic.....yeap big baby. fishman neo-d, very cheap, but kinda impressive for its price. have heard better pickups, but since i rarely perform with my acoustic, i wasnt willing to spend much on pickups (especially if its just one show and only a couple of songs on acoustic). i didnt manage to use my pickups when i played an unplugged set on radio the other day. it was mic up. well, my big baby cut through the mix nicely. basically buffing nails is polish ur nails with a buffer until it become shinny... QUOTE(BlueSilver @ Jun 4 2008, 08:31 PM) wah...ur cpx-8 2-way pickup system not good enough ar??? |
