Very frustrating platform. Can never buy or sell during peak hours. Their platform keeps telling you 'network problem'. Lost so many opportunities and now this greyed out Amend and Cancel button.

You will receive a template email response stating "system being upgraded, be patient bla bla bla". Good thing I never opened margin account with them.

I plan to move away from Rakutentrade. Spoke to a broker friend of mine. He told me Rakutentrade is the worst platform on the market now. He opened up his trading platforms(he has two!) and showed me. There are SO many features and things not available in Rakutentrade that is a standard feature in many other platforms. If only I consulted him before making this mistake.

Imagine you rent a car for a cheap price which only works fine if traffic is smooth. The moment you encounter traffic jam, traffic lights or other peak hour events, your car overheats and cannot be driven. You cannot fix the car because it is a rented car not your own car. You complain to the car rental company who keeps telling you, yeah yeah we will upgrade the car. Be patient. So you always miss your appointments, late to work, stranded at the roadside, couldn't turn up to meet your bf/gf/buddies/family. Will you continue to rent and drive this car?

I would rather pay a bit more brokerage fees for something that works properly and is stable.

That is what I was saying earlier. A template email response. I have received something like that too from them before AND that greyed out AMEND and CANCEL issue everyone was experiencing earlier today - I received an exact same email response from them. It is not difficult for anyone to copy, paste and press send.

A quick look at their FB page and all the pages in this thread shows there are many complaints about their substandard service and platform from before. I believe I saw a Rakutentrade rep on this thread too but this person is now totally silent. I am sure they are aware of it.

The Number 1 priority and expectation of any service provider, in this case, a broker, is to provide a service. If trading was halted by Bursa yesterday, nothing can be done and it is not their fault as all brokers are affected.

However, if it is due to high volume traffic or network issues that tons of people have experienced and complaint before, it is clearly and solely Rakutentrade's problem to bear and resolve as this is an issue with their substandard platform. You cannot pass the bucket. All other stuff like this and that points are just gimmicks. If you could tell them to take back all those points and other gimmicks and even charge a bit more for brokerage in exchange for super stable platform service which works all the time each and every time, would you do it?

If a restaurant serves me lousy food and service, I will never go back there and tell everyone to avoid that place. Same goes for any other service provider. Once bitten twice shy.

Issued instruction to close mine more than a week ago with balance RM10 inside. Until now the account still shows RM10 inside. I emailed them to ask and all they can say is still in progress. Geez, how long does it take to close an account and refund the money?

My observation is this platform CANNOT handle heavy load at anytime. It could be any time of the day, not just morning.

If certain stocks you are holding suddenly drop and you want to run, platform cannot handle coz everyone else running, you will be stuck there and suffer losses.

Similarly if you want to pick up certain stocks at cheaper prices during the sudden drop or ride the wave on sudden surges, you cannot too and you will miss out.

The only way is to key in during regular non-peak times your buy/sell price.

It's kind of like buying a car which cannot be driven during peak hours/traffic jam coz the car will overheat. rclxub.gif
