I don't understand, what kind of benefit can they provide?

Maybank has a Direct CDS account (cash upfront) with RM8/0.1%, which is about as cheap as this and so much more convenient when transferring funds into and out of your trading account.

What is the selling point of this company? I heard the BFM interview with the Japanese Rakuten guy, and I was expecting much lower brokerage the way he was talking...but it's all just some wayang only. I'm totally comfortable with Maybank, plus they have a good trading portal (IE only) and pretty good research reports.

I enquired them regarding fee imposed on corporation action. They said they are currently offering zero fee for all corporation action. I will update the first post later to include this info.

To attend AGM and request for company annual report, need to give them a call.

Me neither. I only see advantage for those who always make transactions <1k. Other than that, pretty much on par with other platform.

They are proud of full fledge online platform. For opening nominee account, other brokers also provide fully online account opening right? hmm.gif

If currently means a promo for few months then not worth it.. But if it's for life then I think its a good deal. DRP all can just let them handle.

From my point of view, I feel that Rakuten for beginners is nothing better than say playing other brokers that offered a similar rate. For instance, if I would to fall into the category of RM1,000.01 to RM9,999.99, I'm playing RM8.

What is the point when MIBB Cash account or even say AmSecurities is offering RM6? I know it is just too much for me to say but I feel it would have been better if they could offer somewhere in the RM3-5 range. And even for the nominee CDS, this doesn't help further.

My apologies, my bad. It's AmSecurities that is offering RM6 and not PIVB. PIVB is double at RM12.

You might want to call up the nearest brokerage or check them out before joining them.
