1. Good observation. The current side impact test is using EUROSID (EURO Side Impact Dummy), which used European anthropometric data which is not really represent the whole world population. It will be replaced by WorldSID.

2. However, it does not means the iriz airbag need rectification. The shorter you are, the higher the distance between your head and the B-pillar --> you'll be less likely hit by the B-pillar. View the car from front and you'll understand what I mean.  For shorter people, the B-pillar will hit the rib first, pushing the head away from B-pillar. (B-Pillar is always designed to be weaker at the base).



As you can see, the top portion of B-pillar is HPF (1500MPa) while the bottom one is Tailor Welded Blank 500MPa steel. This allows pendulum like movement, reducing the B-pillar intrusion around your head. Check the graph, intrusion level (green colored line), if you're taller, you're more susceptible getting hit on the head.

3. The side airbag coverage for the rear passenger is almost 100% of rear door glass due to assumptions the child is placed on the back seat.

4. The airbag is shorter on the longitudinal direction is due to there is no requirement for small overlap test (extra portion of the airbag @ A-pillar is required to cushion the acceleration of head during small overlap test). Refer statement below.
