i've tried to search it but i juz can't get the correct keyword for it...

so.. i've need 2 post this...

i juz adopted a mongrel from the roadside.. the pup is cute n that was y i intend 2 keep it..

is there any guidance for me 2 keep the dog? example is like to check wif the vet? mmm... if it is.. what is the procedure like? how much would it cost? thank Q thank Q

Well, it's good to know that you are willing to adopt a stray. Good thing indeed.

Well, for starters, would suggest you to bring to the vet for a check up. Normally a check up won't cost much, consultation is like RM20 mostly... but some can go up to RM60 depending on which vet. Anyway, just carry about RM100 with you lah just in case.

Food wise.... do not give left over food.... not really healthy lah. Get hold of a good bag of dogfood. Avoid brands like Alpo or Pedigree.... not healthy at all. You can try looking for premium brands. ANF is not bad, along with Eukanuba and Nutro... you can find those brands at Pet Safari. Some may think mongrels do not need such good food but they actually do. It prolongs their lives and also less health problem later.

ya , some people tot if a mongrel , those owner just give them left over food , this is bad idea , although is mongrel but they do need more nutrition and good dog food . never '' NEVER '' buy those food from supermarket which is ALPO or PEDIGREE , sumtimes i saw many consumer still buy those alpo or pedigree from supermarket...sigh ... i do hope they more care and love their own furkid more , which is make their live more heatlhy and live longer.

yeah , website do help us to how to care own furkid . sumtimes i do research myself. anyway i really appreciate what you do which is u willing to rescue a stray dog . u know what ? i went ikano last 3 month and i still remember i went a adoption booth at a corner which is btw ikano and ikea , and the adoption booth do really good and well , and i do pay a visit there , and see those puppies . and one middle age women , ask what breed is this dog btw , free of charge ? one of a staff there say is a mix breed , then the women reply '' huh , it mean is a MONGREL '' lah ...and she whisper to her family '' who want mongrel '' that time i really angry , and tell the staff those people just want branded dog , why dun just go buy a pure breed and visit adoption booth , it make me more annoying and feel those people look down on a mongrel . so you are doing a right thing , i really appreciate it . god bless u

I agree that some people just want purebreed dogs, which is rather unfair to the mongrels. They are still dogs no matter what breed are they. Haihs.. really pity those mix breed puppies..

yeah , there still many mongrel need home and care from adopter .there's many forum showing those mongrel need home badly ... sigh . what i hope is i hope they will find a good home soon .

Err.. Why ALPO or PEDIGREE not good for our dog ? LOL those are the famous company for pet food leh.. how come u say not good huh ?

I heard that it's because these two brands are very commercialized. Can't remember the exact reason why though.

They are famous for being commercial lah.... but not famous for health. Just a year ago was a case where dogs died after eating Pedigree, their liver was damanged badly by the food.

The best brands are super premium and holistic brands. Alpo and Pedigree are supermarket brands..... even premium brand like Three Dogs is not that good either but it is way better than Pedigree or Alpo.

It's normal for a puppy to pee a lot. They can't hold their bladder for long.

And your puppy is sooooo cuteee!! Feel like cuddling your pup.

hmm terrorist ya is true those manufacture is from those famous company but then how 2 say it purchase at hypermarket . easy example way to decribe : supermarket for dog food = fast food . and u will see those pedigree and alpo dog food is not with good ingredient . well , one of my friend want buy Alpo because he want to save money , and his dog always drop fur . it mean eat more those dog food is no good for health lor .

For a 7-in-1 vaccination and deworming cost me Rm50 or so.

by the way u have to have reason to whack the dog. and if he is doing something wrong, say NO and take the stuffs away.

yeah .. better deworm it if not later he sick .. and be careful of all ur slippers if u're not putting him in a cage LOL .. he's gonna bite everything he can , buy some chewy stick or toy for him lo.. if not his teeth itchy .. will chew ur slippers off

buy some chew toys for ur dog if so. they tend to have itchy teeth during teeth dropping period.

erm nvm , u can finish the Alpo first then change other brand . well i feed my furkid with science plan lamb and rice flavour . but other forumer do recommend blackwood / or eagle pack . hmm so far i feed my lui lui science plan lamb and rice is good , this dog food recommend from my furkid 's breeder.

blackwood can eliminate poo smell. Hehe. I'm currently feeding Innova to my silky. But I'm thinkign of switching to California Natural or Blackwood.

juz now i went 2 supermarket.. thought that i can find a better brand than alpo o pedigree.. but seems 2 b tat there r onli this 2 as i mentioned.. i haf no choice but 2 buy a 500g smallest pack that they haf for a trial 1st.. cz will b visitting vet soon..

Well... always the cheapest dogfood is not the right kind.... you can try to visit some petshops and ask them to show you their stock. Read the ingredients. Make sure no by-products. As long no by-products then you can safely buy for your dog lah. It is hard to recommand a brand like that here coz there are so so many brands.... of course the best are NutriEdge, California natural, Eaglepack, Blackwood, .....

Try and get hold of Nutro. You can locate this brand at Pet Safari at Ikano....

wow... bought my pup 2 visit the vet.. cost me rm100.. juz for the vaccination.. but i think my pup is too small/young for the vaccination.. (although i'm not sure wat his age is)

Rm100? Too much lah if for vaccination... unless he charge you RM60 for consultation coz some vets charge RM20 while some RM60 and some do not charge any.

I stay at Setapak... got this vet at Genting Kelang, very honest and he rarely charges consultation fees... just the vaccination, that's it. We never spend more than RM50 on a single dog there.

Maybe he said standard price coz included his consultation fees? Coz I did went to 1 vet before, RM60 just consultation.... no medication at all....

mongrels are "one of a kind" - they are different from all the pure breeds dogs... which they all look similar =.= Like CLONES!! @.@ You have a unique pet dog than others!! ^^ im so happy for u!! ^^

Sneeze is ok.... but say your dog coughs... then hacks... then it sounds like got something stuck in his throat and like got phlegm.... means the dog got kennel cough and this kinda cough is very serious for puppies and senior dogs .

yup its true there are alot of stray cats and dogs out there. it breaks my heart seeing them out there, compared to our furkids.
