QUOTE(graphidz @ Jul 7 2021, 07:54 PM) I have zero knowledge of finance so hoping to learn from here. Been reading a while but sometimes got confused from the mountain of knowledge. Hoping here would be easier. Looking to get my first credit card but not sure if with my salary they will approve or not : - basic < RM2k - commissions > RM1k - monthly salary = RM2K ~ RM4k If there is a small possibility for approval, any advise on making my chances better? Aso no loans to my name at the moment, so not sure how good my credit score at the moment is Try applying from the bank where your salary is associated with. For me, I will just try applying the card that I want. If get rejected, then try others. Dont send in too many applications at the same time.

QUOTE(legendgod @ Jul 8 2021, 08:11 PM) Does it matter to have a cc for future bank loans? Will it make a big difference when applying? Dont really need a cc but I've been told it will factor in when apply for car loan etc. Even if I apply, most I could spend in a month below 1k only. Will it be worth the hassle? It will be good to build your credit score.

QUOTE(kart @ Jul 11 2021, 10:23 PM) Is it possible to renew road tax (Lesen Kenderaan Motor), via credit card payment in online websites? If that is the case, what are the websites? Currently, we are not allowed to renew road tax in post offices. Thank you for your information. MYEG accepts CC payment.

QUOTE(kart @ Jul 12 2021, 05:54 AM) Thank you for your reply, Human Nature and ClarenceT. 1) How does MYEG send the road tax to us? Via normal post? 2) What is the cost of the road tax renewal via MYEG? 3) Is the road tax renewed via MYEG just as legitimate and legal as the road tax renewed in JPJ or in post office? Yes, I understand. Thanks for the remainder. I will use BigPay Prepaid MasterCard. A despatch will deliver to your address. Cost is standard, according to your vehicle cc. Fee is around RM10+ Yes.

QUOTE(graphidz @ Jul 18 2021, 11:21 AM) I see. Will try that too, just want to get as much information first so I don't go in blind. Too bad CIMB don't have very good cards, at least not for my use and salary, but at least got something I guess Another noob question : It isn't necessary to open a savings account with the bank you want to apply credit card right? But it does help you chances if you do right? Also about bank statement, if I have multiple savings account, I should give the one that I use the most la right? Not necessary and I doubt it will help in any way. Bank statement submission for card application? I would say the one where your salary is credited into.

QUOTE(graphidz @ Jul 18 2021, 12:52 PM) Lol okay duly noted on that one. I think my case quite different for most. Because the way I use my savings account right now is I transfer out my salary money from the bank that receives the salary to another bank' savings account. Mainly because of interest rates on another bank is better. Why I don't use the other banks before is because my employer says its faster to credit to CIMB. So the bank that receives that salary is empty most of the time. Occasionally used for buying online stuff, but quite rare. Do you still advise to use that bank account that is used to credit my salary into? Yes, reason because the card issuer wants you verify that you have salary credited in, ie. source of income

QUOTE(legendgod @ Jul 19 2021, 09:26 PM) Folks, I have an active cc application pending at Upload document which I dont want to proceed. Already called cs but the status still not cancelled. Cant apply new cc due to current application still active. Now ctos already have the record of this application. Will it matter in my score if cancelled or ignored? Which bank? Have you checked eCRISS to see if your application is recorded yet?

Just sharing my experience on verification request eCCRIS.
I notice that my cancelled card is still shown at eCCRIS, so I put in a query at the system. Next day, the bank itself contacted me to explain that it will be reflected next month. On day 4, I received an email auto-notification on the status of my query.
Pretty efficient and more importantly, it is working.

QUOTE(XIII @ Nov 22 2021, 09:17 AM) So I requested for my OCBC CC to be cancelled at 16 NOV. Staff confirmed with me on 17 NOV. I just realised I was charged RM25 Service Tax on 17th also. Question is do I need to pay this tax? Call the bank and ask why it is still not cancelled. They would have a recording of the conversation or made a note about the request.

QUOTE(whatizlife @ Dec 3 2021, 10:12 AM) hi adbacc and cybpsych, thanks for the explanation. i have another question here... yesterday (2-dec) i used my HLB cc for first payment in Watson, so i have to clear the due payment before 22-dec (20 days) right? but why today i checked my cc statement, as u see the pic the statement due date is 10-dec... can someone help me please? thank you The 10 Dec due date is the due date based on the latest statement. The 2 Dec Watson transaction will be itemized in the next statement. You pay before its due date.

QUOTE(whatizlife @ Dec 3 2021, 10:23 AM) so i can pay my watson transaction after 10 dec but before 22dec without getting any interest charge ya? To answer your question, correct. Wait for the next statement to be generated. You will see Watson listed there. No interest charge as long as you pay the statement amount before the statement due date. It is easier to track according to statement then tracking each item, imagine you pay for dozens of item.

QUOTE(bcy750 @ Dec 21 2021, 09:21 AM) Hi all, Just curious how this actually works: 1) first year annual fee waived 2) no annual fee after 12X swipes in a year. Let's say I got my new credit card approved and activated on 15 Dec 2021. Later I have more than 12 eligible swipes between 15 Dec 2021 up to 14 Dec 2022. Since I have made more than 12 swipes in a year before the anniversary (i.e. second year), so am I eligible for annual fee waiver for the 2nd year?
Or, in order to waive the 2nd year annual year, the 12 swipes need to happen within the 2nd year, which mean the swipes must between 15 Dec 2022 to 14 Dec 2023 instead? Anyone can clarify the above? Thank you. Annual fee is upfront payment. Yes to the bolded statement.
