Btw, how does temporary credit limit increase work?

If my credit limit is 10k, i want to increase to 15k, because i want to buy something that is 15k. Then i swipe this 15k item today after my bank say temp credit limit increase ok. then tomorrow, my credit limit will be back to 10k?

is it something like that?

Fact check abit.

The bnm guideline came out for 2021 onwards where they will cap the cc fees earned by banks right?

So, amex, visa, mastercard is now all capped the same amount correct?

I'm asking because during a work meeting (i dont work for bank just the cc example was helpful in that situation) someone say amex charges highest. So i just want prove someone wrong.

For those on tnb auto debit, just want to check, if i manually pay the minute the bill come out, the auto debit wont kick in right?

As the owner of credit card passed away, i want to avoid more thing charged to the credit card.

Isn't it better to get the card terminated?

be careful with auto debit. most mechanism only take billed amount. your payments after bill is out doesn't not change the billed amount (fixed).

same suggestion as above.

try cancel the card and let autodebit keeps failing. eventually it would be cancelled cuz or successive failure.

card outstanding before cancellation also need to clear first.

any idea how to cancel the? walk-in? email? call?

Edit: i called maybank. Just email details will do. For future reference, the email is colln@maybank.com.my

Does it matter to have a cc for future bank loans? Will it make a big difference when applying?
Dont really need a cc but I've been told it will factor in when apply for car loan etc.
Even if I apply, most I could spend in a month below 1k only. Will it be worth the hassle?
*
It's true because bank dont like ppl with no credit history. But other soft benefits are legit too. Learn to manage your debt can start from credit card. Plan your spending, pay statement balance on time every month.

Also i get rm30 cash rebate from public bank quantum master card.

Can reload to ewallet to cash rebate.

It's win win win.

Can we use contactless for a mastercard? on the same visa paywave reader. The mastercard has the same paywave symbol. Thanks
*
In theory should not matter. I never faced any issue for either visa or mastercard and i do use them quite evenly.

Hi.. damn new here and want to ask for best way to apply for credit card is throught ringgitplus or direct got to bank and apply? Im looking for fast approval rate and not wait for months to approve credit cards. Thank you!
*
I dont notice a difference personally. After years of applying. But i feel applying through those ppl at the booth seems faster. But could be maybe those banks just happen to be more efficient. But i think generally quite fast and never exceed 1 month

The good thing about applying through sales ppl or ringgitplus (also a sales ppl in a way) you do get alot of freebies. Of course down side is ringgitplus can market stuff to you.

So, 2 days ago, relative renewed driving license at post office and can pay by credit card.

Post office inside 1 utama. Is this a normal trend?

The one near my house is cash only. Last visit 3 months ago.

Hi sifu. Is it recommended to apply cc online via ringgitplus? Or can you guys recommend any other option for online?
*
Replying you here. I believe this is the right place to reply.

You can directly apply for credit card at the bank's website. Most banks anyway. 2023 yo, bank want your business and will make it easy for you to apply. IMO, this will be the "safer" option (less leakages, data not passed to 3rd party)

Ringgitplus is still a 3rd party website. If you feel the rewards are great for you, then it is your choice to apply at ringgitplus.

question for cards that offer higher points/cashback for overseas spending, if for example i pay for a hotel on trip.com, but it is MYR.

trip.com is CN website.

usually would be considered as overseas even though MYR right?

We applied for the physical card just for travelling to europe. Didnt swipe in malaysia prior to it.

QUOTE(hustlerism @ Oct 30 2024, 03:14 PM)
Planning to use the non-physical card only. Should not be any problem right?
*
You are still running a risk where later the contactless dont work, then you need to still insert the card and pin it. Of course, you have credit card as back up then no issue.

Is airmiles worth it for someone who spend like RM2-3k/month?
*
Most likely not, but if your expectation not too high of redeeming frequently, maybe still ok.

can use Alliance Bank Visa Infinite as example. let's say you spend these things per month

2000 on ewallet reload / online
1000 on dining/grcoery

You get 16000 points from the 1st item and 5000 points on the 2nd item. Total points 21000.

1 year you get 252,000 points. Converted to enrich miles, it's only 16k miles because conversion is 15k points for 1k miles.

You can google for some pictures, i found one from genx geny genz blog... according to his picture april 2024, economy one way to tokyo starts from 19,600 and business one way to tokyo starts from 66,600.

So you spend one year + maybe 2 months, to get potentially one way ticket to tokyo (you still need to pay tax) and 19.6k is probably lowest, but still achievable if you are ok with odd-days. then you need to kumpul 4 years to get 1 way business class ticket.

this is based on lowest (saver rate) vs cashback you could have earn...? depends on what you want...

Btw, want to ask for general reference. When booking hotel using sites like trip.com, agoda, booking.com, there is book now, pay later option.

Would the pay later option still be considered as online transaction for credit card cash rebate or points rewards purposes? Trying to maximise the online benefit for credit cards.

As in BNPL, or pay later as in pay at the hotel during check in? If it's the latter, then clearly it can't be online lor

If you're referring to like Visa Instalments payment option like on Agoda, then maybe? Try and see lor
*
pay later as in agoda, trip.com will charge my card later. obviously i know it's not online if i pay at the hotel.
