not all phones require specific tools. like sonyericsson, a lot of 3rd party development has been done, enabling modification using only the typical cable.

i guess you have to wait longer then. some take up to 8- 10 hours. if after that still no progress. forget about it. probably some failed process.

there are china made dual sim card holder, enable you to use two sim card for some phones. though you will have to switch line manually. if one sim card is in use, the other cant be used.

firmware flashing cost from rm15 to abt rm60/70 (reasonable), usually rm30. definitely a rip-off for rm80 just for a firmware reflash. but what can you do, that is their price.

you have to use 3rd party reflashing method. davinciteam, wotanserver etc.

not all Japan phone run on CDMA. Toshiba and sharp are two of them, because they manufacture a lot of phone for other countries too. (e.g. sharp 903sh etc, there are both japanese and european models, so as Toshiba etc).

that is why i asked him to pm vodafone and ask if he can unlock it or for more details.

Added on September 2, 2007, 9:14 pmthough 812sh is unlockable though.

the generator he is providing is not to unlock the sim lock, but to reset/unlock the phone security code.

yes to old nokia (i.e. 3310).

some old se phone can be unlocked via those generator too, but that doesnt come free.

if you are in malaysia, you can try asking from phone shops providing unlocking service. else pm babyk, vodafone or kit_kit here.

if you are oversea, you can try looking around handphone shops (not those big retailer) to ask if they do unlocking service.

else you can try remote unlocking from davinciteam.com or wotanserver.

bad points: service will be unlikely to be free. and stolen handphone will ended up being used as spare part.

good point: in hope that it will reduce theft.

imei is change-able, but it is illegal.

you can use 3rd party software for chinese support, though it s**ks.

or flash it to a firmware for asia pacific region, chinese language support will come as standard, not sure if that will void the warranty. but you can always call nokia uk for advise.

the thing is most telco in japan use CDMA while malaysia use GSM and UMTS. so it is completely different system.
