Cooking wine certified as non-halal. But I use it anyway in my cooking as similiar reason as yours. We do learn science at school, should be no more alcoholic substance left as it evaporated over heat.

Pretty sure Haram... Some might say halal bcause the heat dissipates the alcohol... But....its the fact that an ingredient that was created to make people drunk was used.
Tapai pulut, ubi,.... Natto halal.... Because even though alcohol is present... The food it self was created not to make people drunk... Unlike beer... Which people create to make themselves drunk.
Just use substitute... Vinegar ada... Kenapa nk guna wine?.... Bajet high class chef.... Ptui....

Alcohol... Is halal... Arak is haram... Arak is anything created for the purpose of making people drunk. 
I read this while i was researching on the consumption of natto... Cuz i wanted to eat natto... Cuz it's basically tapai soya bean...

So in conclusion....if it was created for the purpose of making people drunk... E.g. beer, wine, sake, whiskey...etc. then haram

The fact that smoking is bad for health is actually quite new "knowledge".. promoted by Western medicine.. because (the way I see it) they don't know how to help folks with lung cancer or respiratory infections and diseases..

I mean.. from my observation (as I have never really tried it before..) smoking helps with the smokers' inhalation system..... And helps their thinking and responses... AND plenty of people smoked their entire life BUT lived to a ripe old age.....

I really REALLY feel that there's just too many rules for the Musl*ms in our country to lead a more relaxed life lah.....
