yaya, fake... I get that part.
Some seller say the disti say, the pants are original... but not the price as they are half of what original costs. Looking at customer pics show they are faux leather.

ER6 would be the least powerful engine of the road going 600s, but that reflected on the price also la.
I was looking at Ninja 600, but realized that engine is quite under the herd.

If I talk to salesman... I think they will tell me buy 1000cc.
Anyway, 150cc should handle highway 140km/h... but stability is a bigger concern.
*
Ya, for me also I don't plan to buy randomly.. Will definitely buy from reputable shop coz I dunno how to spot fakes goods also.. Saw many selling 20-30% cheaper, but I think not worth the risk la coz I don't think I can tell the diff..

Yea, no doubt er6 is not that powerful, but given the price and maintenance (2L EO).. I'll definitely choose this anytime for daily ride (90km/day).. Fact is I don't really need that much power, I even drop the gearing by 2tooths and I still feel it's sufficient for me..

The 2stroke 150 can go near 170+ according to meter, but I'm sure it's way off calibration... Even now ride 150 in my ER6 feels way faster than the Kip's 170+... doh.gif

Hello Fellow riders.
is it advisable to use 250cc for long distance trips for example kl - pg maintaining at highway speed?

one of my client said "can, but you'll need to make a few stops to reach your destination"

im wondering why a few stops since a full tank should be able to travel 300km. Perhaps to prevent it from overheating due to high rpm maintaining highway speed? or one have to rest more due to fatigue from high vibration from 1 cylinder bikes.

another forummer mentioned yes too but depends on how deep my pocket is... hmm.gif

is there higher wear and tear of the engine if i am to use 250cc to travel long distance?
*
My longest trip so far was from KL to Krabi early last year, but I'm on 650cc twin.. I guess speed wise would be difference, so let's talk about the RPM.. I'm maintaining around 7k rpm+- all the way.. Beside having meals, I just stop to refuel and short cigarette break.. The bike can definitely handle the journey.. The next day my friends reached from Seremban.. They too ride non stop, but they're on 900cc triple.. But damn, it was tiring to be on naked bike for such long journey.. Sleep right away upon reaching.. Only one of the friend is riding touring bike and still have energy left.. Still can go for walk and watch TV, haha.. That is the time that I started to like touring bike..

I got a cheap2 z8 near me. Just 30 minutes drive but aesthetically not very good. Calar here and there, probably scratched the bike when want to park in his house.

Why people selling it anyway?
*
I'd actually rather buy a bike in its original condition with scratches rather than those repainted to pristine condition considering if the price is right.. At least can know the if the bike involved in heavy accident or not.. Most important thing is GB and engine is smooth and not too many things need to service due to wear and tear, something like battery, tires, brakes, suspensions.. Of course it will be bonus if can get a original paints + pristine condition.. Good luck in your search anyway..

Hi absolute newbie here, no lesen or anything yet, looking into getting lessons. literally have 0 2 wheel knowledge/experience short of cycling. Heck I have only just learnt that the left lever is the clutch and not the rear brake  tongue.gif

Now, knowing the above, is it an absolutely terrible idea to be gunning for something like an er6/versys/vulcan as my first bike? i heard they are pretty decent starter bikes. I shortlisted these cause they seem cheap? (I have seen 2010 er6n's going for around 10k out there) i am told they are quite reliable stout machines. upkeep is pretty decent for 600cc machines.
from my research overhauls cost approx 2k+, valve adjustments (i dont know how often) its bout 500, sprocket/chain every 40k bout 500, minyak hitam/filter less than 250 every 4k and the tires every 30k around 1k a pair?

any opinions on these bikes? honestly they are the top pick cause, they are just cheap and as a newbie i am fully expecting to drop it at a traffic light somewhere. It helps that its less painful dropping one of these than something nicer... and at the end of the day if i dont like riding bikes ill just sell it off cheap.
*
Top overhaul 2.5k+-, full overhaul 3.5k+-. Chain 200+- 15k km, sprockets 200+- 30k km. Front tyre 400 20k km, rear tyre 500 16k km. Service 180 5k km.

Since Kawasaki changed distributor, make sure the bike already done valve recall because there are certain year made valve got prob.. If I remember correctly is year 10-13 coz using Thailand made valve.. Mine is year 08 which is confirm Japan made, so I'm not too sure which year made got problem.. Other than that, no major issues.. And maintenance is considered cheapest, or if not one of the cheapest for its class..

If totally 0 knowledge on 2wheels a bit hard, but doable.. Just keep on practicing.. Also ER6 have very flat power band, so unless you purposely full throttle it, else it won't be a very wild bike..Hence no problem learning with it.. Even most of the learning academy also using it now..

Side note : I'm using it as my daily driver of 90km/day, and also for convoy/leisure ride.. Bike is 60k km when bought, and now is clocking near to 120k km.. Near 3 years of ownership and I have no complaints at all besides the ugly exhaust sound.. Haha..

how does one tell if this was rectified? if if it was not how would i go about doing so? btw aside from your usual wear, is there a major difference between the pre and post 2012  er6? (i think earlier ones had the signals integrated into the fairing, later ones sticking out?)
*
Gen1 06-08, Gen2 09-11, Gen3 12-14.. You can google it to see the difference..

1st gen is first CBU Japan, CKD with Japan parts later..
2nd gen is first CBU Japan, then CBU Thailand later..
3rd gen all CBU Thailand, only year 14 model rectified the valve problem..

So if you're getting 2nd or 3rd gen you'll need to double check which year model affected or if previous owner already done the valve recall program or not..

oh i meant any significant performance/feature differences? seems like some design changes? physically they seem almost the same, no real change mechanically or from a handling standpoint either

for me if its not a much better bike, ill end up with the older gen, its likely gona be treated as a training bike so, honestly long as its hardy and can take the abuse of a newbie it will do the job.
*
Gen 1 and 2 having same frame and exterior not much different.. 3rd gen new frame and said to have improved low rpm jerkiness.. But I have tried all 3 gen and I personally don't feel much different la.. If don't mind the outlook I would recommend get 1st gen like mine.. Cheaper also, so u can spare some cash for repairing just in case..

They are now offer Z650 and I saw Instructor even sit behind a guy on EX5 just to teach him how to ride.
Overall is better than Imkeda i went few years ago. Just price bit on high side.
*
Some institute example Unisex in Nilai, the one I went, they charge cheap for package, but extremely high on re-test.. B full package only 700 (no b2), but then retest is 250.. Heard some in other institute in Selangor also 100 only.. My friend retest last year in Penang 80 only.. I think this thing need to as also for newbie.. Like me never thought of asking end up kena trap..

sound so evil~ lagi worst if they dont actually inform u did wrong during practice~ hahaha

TBH, me myself at fault for failing, haha.. I actually already own Er6 before having my L, and coincidentally there's a newbie which totally never rode bike before going straight to b full.. He asked for my permission if he can practise more, end up I gave up my practice time for him.. I barely practice there.. Failing was due to my overconfident and never brake enough at titi, end up I was 1 second short.. On re-test I brake kaw2 and I think might have hang up there around 15seconds.. haha..

damn the JPJ over there must be strict AF. As for me JPJ never see what we did also... so i just did what i have to do and passed.
*
I'm not sure if they are biased, or they are more strict on titi (their pondok is right beside titi).. I'm actually the last one to test.. Earlier, one fella dropped his leg at selekoh tajam (the z-turn), and another one entered the wrong junction during on-the-road.. Both passed.. I'm the only one failed out of the 8 learners.. Btw, no need to assume la why I failed la.. They are the authorities and only they themselves know.. I just live on with it and did a re-test and thankfully passed..

just came back from chan bikers....checked on some tire prices
120 front and 180 rear

Bridgestone T32 - RM1150
Metzeller Roadtec01 SE - RM1130
Pirelli Angel ST (not GT) - RM900 (Promo)

Road 6 only has rear 180..no front 120 - RM700
*
Roadtec 01 got SE already bro? I usually patron Ng Brothers which is few blocks away from Chan.. might need to change my tires before Hatyai trip early September, or maybe if thread sufficient, after the trip.. I saw from Ng brothers shopee only got normal ones..

Anyway, anyone have experience with
1) Road 5
2) T31/T32
3) Angel GT

I have used before only
1) Angel ST
2) Roadtec 08
3) Roadtec 01

ST I do not prefer, 08 I just cloced few thousand km before I sold my bike so dunno how yet.. 01 is fine for me..
So just wondering the other 3 tires will it perform better than 01? T31 saw my friend's center flat out quite obvious. Road 5 heard from my mech saw many bikes got peel of when approaching half thread (dunno how true it is)..
Angel GT no friend using currently..

SE launches awhile ago...just took time to come to Malaysia...yeah chan has stock...no more non SE edi
Im currently on road 5....was on 2 sets of roadtec01 previously.....i prefer the roadtec. Road 5 is good on the wet n roadtec i feel is on par...but on other aspects, i feel the roadtec is better...mcm better grip...n the road 5 is lazy to lean into corners while the roadtec just wants to lean

Will most likely go back to roadtec after this unless i gatal wanna try the t32 or save some money n try the ST.
*
Oh okay thanks bro.. So seems like sticking back to Roadtec 01 is good.. Coz I have less friend using touring tires as all of them are weekend rider.. Only me using it for daily ride, hence limited knowledge of different touring tires.. Since 01 don't seems to be lacking, then just continue with it la.. Last 2 that I use last for good 15k km and minimal center flatten even though I travel highway a lot, that's why I like..Thanks again bro..

I used Angel GT HW before, its sharp tires... always want to lean when on the corner and it sticks like rails, managed to get 15k km from GT, while Roadtec 01 HW version seems to have more mileage but around 12k km the rear tire become squarish and affect the handling.

But Roadtec 01 might be good for not-so-heavy bikes..
*
Owh, tires got version? This I really dunno.. sweat.gif But both my Roadtec 01 didn't square much even I use till reach TWI.. In the other hand like you said for Pirelli, yea I do realised it's sharper (bujur in Malay).. Hence the Angel ST I use square out before reaching 50%.. I assume the sharp point used up faster so start to flatten from there.. Not sure bout the GT though.. Performance wise GT feels better than 01? Or it's around the same?

When new Angel GT feels sharper in the corner compare to Roadtec 01 (lazier steering might be due to the roundish thread pattern) but when during heavy Rain (slippery surfaces) and white lines, Roadtec 01 wins..  proven only wet muddy red earth toppled my bike in Laos, while on tarmac the stability of Roadtec 01 likes on the rails.

One more thing about Roadtec 01, it's heavier to push your bike around while parking, compare to Michelin PR4 or even Angel GT.

Was using the HWM version of Angel GT and Roadtec 01 on my R1200RT  since those tires were the cheapest around that time (HWM version) probably due to Made in China..
*
Got it bro thanks.. So pros and cons also la.. Based on your description I think 01 still fits me better coz I use daily which include rainy season.. Btw, I think that explained why yours square out on 01 la, GS is much heavier bike, haha.. I'm on ER6 when I use it so no this issue.. Now Gsxs750 which around same which so I assume will perform same way la.. notworthy.gif

Getting my first big bike, hence wanna ask sifu-sifu kalian which is better catch?
1)  Z650
2)  MT07
Both for latest version

Mostly use for leisure ride, with intermittent ride around urban area for work

Thanks
*
Both are great bike.. My first bike is er6 which is z650 brother.. Me too don't ride aggressively, only need a fast bike coz I work at midnight and travel by highway.. At that time in highway, faster is definitely safer than slow and overtake by bus and lorries..
But I'll vote for mt07 this time coz it is lighter and sound nicer than z650..
Btw I do think bike sound is one of the leisure of riding, hence I changed my bike.. And if you need other suggestion, I'll say Suzuki gsxs750 is a bargain buy for 4inline, also honda cbr650r/cb650r.. But downside is higher servicing price and tires if you don't mind..

Beside licence package price, do ask retest price.. When took my licence 3 years ago unisex driving academy is the cheapest so I register there.. Then I need to retest and the price is 250! I never knew the price so I paid.. Later on someone told me he retest 100 only (forgot which academy, but it's in Klang Valley also).. Later on my friend from Penang also retest, even cheaper.. 80 only..

Thanks for the inputs... I did thought of Suzuki 750 and honda 650 but they exceeded my budget... Also as you said, higher maintenance as well

Oh okay, just saying if you have some cash to spare.. Else both the bike you've chosen can't go wrong.. Maybe just go test both and see which riding position, character, and/or look that you prefer more.. Meanwhile try follow both their groups in FB and see if there's any issue with the bikes..

They have 1 or maybe 2 bays for servicing. Last time i went there to check wiring (bike cannot start, instant tripping) and sort out the abs lights. Quite ok. The owner is brother to the Kapar Motorworks iinm.

The next time when i do my servicing there I'll update.
*
Jalan Kapar, not Kapar Motor.. It's TM Motoworld, former name Sin Seng Huat.. Never service there before, but their sales service is top notch.. Taking used bike also quite reasonable.. Recommended 2 friends the to sell bike there, both say they give higher than other bike shop they went..

It's my first big cc bike also.. Although already sold, I never regretted buying it.. In fact a bit regret that I don't have enough cash to get new bike, else I sure keep this bike to use as daily bike..
