I wonder if you use norton to backup your entire drive and then restore to the new HDD without the need to format and reinstalling, will there be any problem on the operating system and it stability?

if your mobo is the same, then it should be any problem.
for example, if you r using dell optiplex 230, u can ghost (clone) it to a new HDD, and when ur workstation having problem, then u can use your backup HDD to restore it. However, if you r using optiplex 230 and you want to retore ur backup HDD to a acer, then it wont work. Ghost is more for those lazy admin to setup a simple workstation in a easy way. Only use norton ghost backup on a similer PC system (same specs).
