Thinking of buying the mazda 3 in the next few months.

Been trying to google mazda 3 2017 model and 2016 model difference.
I really can't tell the difference from the exterior, can someone point out where is the difference?


Safety wise 2017 I know got the G-vectoring control while 2016 don't have.

Also, any idea when the 2017 will come to malaysia? i ask few agents they also dont know, maybe coz they want me to sapu the 2016 model.

I'd rather buy sth that is good to drive but no resale value than thinking about resale value. Maybe I will come to regret it when buying a new car in the future.

Anyway, mazda is slowly picking up in malaysia, I bet u have seen more and more of these cars on the road although nowhere near Toyota and Honda level yet.


Test drive both civic and mazda3 and I can tell why civic is more appealing. For only 110k, u get everything that the 123k mazda 3 have, a freakin 13k difference. Lower spec mazda 3 is not worth it, lots of gadgets are gone and most importantly, freakin manual aircond.

I asked one before in 2016, the sales agent said that new 2017 model will be coming in on August.

They stop inform consumers are because of difficulties clearing off the 2016 models. because like you and me waiting for 2017 models.

Mazda handling>honda handling. Before this mazda 3>civic. But aftee civic turbo out. Civic turbo>mazda3. But mazda is like conti car. Cabin so small.

Can elaborate more? Spare parts such as suspension etc? Like if u service an altis suspension maybe 900-1.5k but mazda would be 3k?

Actually it is our local mindset for getting spacious cars.

I met a few Americans, and they are just driving small cars like Prius C, where they are 190cm tall.

I asked them why they don't get a bigger spacious car like the Camry or something, they said "it is ok, just a car you know. "

But it also depends on the individual.

For me, I feel mazda 3 a bit luxury inside, but interior space a bit cramp as compared to civic. big no no for me.

not my personal experience but friend's mazda 2 battery died about 1 year + and cost to change it was about 600 bucks.

small car is okay if no got people sit behind for long distance journey. if not, need to adjust seat and got possibility both driver seat and passenger seat feel cramp.

It's more appealing to the mass I believe due to the price difference. I opt for Mazda 3 due to few factors:

1. Civic very sporty
2. Mazda 3 pedal
3. When sitting in mazda 3, it's very low and u feel like driving F1 liddat.


Space is fine for me, as only 26 and no family yet. If I have a family definitely will be a big no as well.

Now of course expensive , everything still under warranty , nobody is keeping stock of parts

biggest change for new facelift is that the mazda 3 will finally abandon the handbrake and opt for a new electronic parking brake

My brother buy civic turbo. No engine problem whatsoever. Just the quality is not there. Leeather sit already wanna tear after 2 month use, my father focus leather still strong after 4 years. Sit broken after 5 month. Btw the oil is not change depend on mileage its depend on time. So if u sit in jam, the mileage to change oil will increase eventhough u not moving

Last I heard, if honda gearbox got problem, u are better off selling the car as scrap metal than repairing it.

Because of start stop , any car with start stop if intend to use normal battery better to switch it off , or pay for the enhanced battery to continue using start stop

Because of start stop function , not only mazda but almost all cars have this function already even bezza , if you want to continue using start stop, then you need the more expensive battery, if you couldn't be bothered with start stop, normal battery works

False. I changed my m3 battery after 14 months. Cost me rm 450 plus at service center. I complain the life span short. So they gave me 20 percent discount. If normal rm600 plus la include labor. But u can change outside also. But need come back service center to reset istop. Heard reset is free. Just troublesome coz need go sc

Stiff/bumpy ride.
Underpowered at low speeds.
Unreliable gearbox.

14 months after I purchase the car. Apparently if ur battery dies within first year it's under warranty. Mine was 2 months over. So I complain a bit la get discount.
The battery they changed into was a delkor.

I'm hoping that outside shops will be able to
Reset istop in the near future so can go there for
Cheaper. But for now rm500 every year for 3 years until warranty over is ok I guess considering we get free service and labor for 3 years.

All these is influence from reading foreign reviews and people only used to myvis and brvs

major difrent would be the g vectoring and interrior upgrade. new steering n electronic hand brake. new front bumper with led foglamp. n also new design headlamps. it look more classier then current mazda 3 , but current look sportier imho.

all this base on singpopo fl mazda 3 that already alot on jb roads
