if i cancel order and ask for refund then i can't complain much la.

But for my case:-
1. Shoppu did not update their website when the item was already out of stock, that's why my order went through.
2. Nobody took initiative to update me when the item could not be processed. the order status only shows "processing". if I did not call Shoppu after 1 week, Shoppu wouldn't do anything too. I don't know it is the merchant's fault or Shoppu's fault.
3. Shoppu's customer service officer at first said the refund would take 7-14 working days starting from the day I called in, not from the day that I ordered the item. Today the customer service officer said 14-21 working days. u know 21 working days is a month long right?  sad.gif

I have ordered mine from Shoppu. Was apprehensive earlier but then realized its an online startup from AEON and that was enough for me
for me, flat discount of 300 mattered more, since i wont have much use with the wireless charger or the puny powerbank.
Deal breaker was the screen warranty only within the first year

I was at lowyat just now. Tried a few different units. I found that each unit has a colour defect on screen. Some units have reddish colour on the edges, while others are greenish colour on the edges. Is this normal? Im just curious if this is a defect due to amoled?

you mean when you smile it will cause a defect to appear?

jokes aside, as ppl here have said Amoled screens have different "characteristics" depending on batches. Batch A of amoled screens may be more "red" than Batch B of amoled screens, so in the end when put in the phone you get two phones that may have different screen colours.

Whether its a defect or not depends on how "severe" that difference is and whether it can be fixed from software side..

So was the difference very severe for you when you went and test just now?
*
Amoled I meant. Stupid autocorrect. Lolz.

The side and edges are quite obvious. Red and green at the side

did u test it on a pure white background?
and also try the colour calibration settings.

Dont think its not fixable. and the software update that was rolled out gives even more settings to change the screen to the user's preference..

And if all else fails, well we can always go for 1 on 1 exchange...

So dont think we have to worry about it when we get our phones.
*
Tried to calibrate it. But it's still there.

Hmmph, wanna try sp first before going to coating. I tried coating before on other phone, still prefer sp though.

Yes. But they don't allow for purchased. I tried asking for price at Lyn Samsung store. They said it's for display purpose only.

Pre-Order but no freebies like the "preorder form Samsung"? 3299 retail price... might as well try luck at the roadshow tongue.gif
*
What's the true value of the Samsung pre order gift, honestly I don't know. And sorry that I don't bite the bait. I believe one will know over time. For me, I see the real value in real time. Sorry for being a realist in this realistic world. Hence, the 10% price off is a real value to me. Cause i seeing it immediately.

QUOTE(LordDenning @ May 2 2017, 06:21 PM)
what is so good about it? where is the gem? I fail to see it.

they sell for rm 3399 which is rm 100 more expensive than RRP.

still rm 3299 and only free screen protector + usb cable???

EDIT: ok saw the 12% discount that is not listed down. but thats shoppu discount. Otherwise without its not that worth it to get from there.
*
I don't think any of the big e retailer will be offering such a deep discount. Looking at how Gemfive reduce over time and shut down the big cut voucher completely. I strongly believe Lazada, 11st and any other e-commerce site will not offer such big discount. Way forward, what's the resell value of the device with and without the Samsung freebies? How can one benefit from those? I leave it to you guys to do the calculations. For me, I see the 12%, I'm seeing true value. And when I resell it. I would know for sure I won't lost much from what I bought.

seems like you not very bright in calculation.

The essential kit itself already 300+++ the powerbank about 100-200, the additional warranty worth RM249 everything add up worth RM900 but you only get discount RM395.88
If discount is important to you . Do wait after official is out and buy from 3rd party dealer the price will be slightly cheaper
*
Sorry to say I don't think the power bank, starter kits worth 600bucks. Only the warranty is worth the value. But still, the warranty terms and conditions has its requirements which again lower down the value.

Wireless charging - they give you an old tech. Resell value = rm90? Or lesser over time?

Screen protector - I'm getting it from my seller. Resell value = rm20? And I bet many here bought a different sp or coating. So true value= you won't use it.

Casing - I'm sure no one will use it. Surely everyone buy a spigen or some other case. ReSell value= unknown.

Yes. The one that's truly valuable is warranty. But again, you need to pay additional rm100 as labour cost and must meet within the criteria only you're entitled for the free exchange. Resell value - rm248 or lower.

Total = rm358.

But my question is What will these bring to you when you sell your s8? Value = unknown or maybe lesser than rm250.

But I have saved a Rm 396 in true value and i could invest in sth else. This is my sense of mathematics for being a realist.

It might not be true. But I welcome followers to throw in your calculation. Peace yo.

You cant even see the real time value. You go road show you get PWP the item are 50% off say gear 360 value RM999

you sell half price that discount is more than your 12% and you get freebies as welll

That why pre order customer are furious because roadshow get more value

so RM3299+ RM900 + 499.5 = u go calculate the real time value
*
I think you missed out some important calculation here.
Would any of the wealthy care about the 50% offer from gear vr which the device itself might not be useful to them. My point here is only if the device is bringing value to you, then yes it's a freaking good value bundle.

When we talk about value, we need to include if the value brings any meaning to you. You may say, you can buy and sell it. But how fast can it sell on garage sales? Note: each location is eligible for 400 pieces and 3 location is 1200 pieces of these vr. How many of them will float into market, we won't know. Anyway, my point is if you have the time to queue for the first 200 and you find that's valuable to you. By all means and go ahead. But if you want sth immediate, people like me. Shoppu is having that discount.

I'm just sharing the platform promotion for everyone here to be benefit from.

it depends what free gifts. If you really want discount that you better wait. No point rush during pre order for discount because 3rd party seller is always alot cheaper than samsung retail official.

If i would want the discount i will wait at least 1month.
*
Not too sure how Samsung will control the pricing of this device. I doubt any reseller is able to sell below 3.4k. at any rate. I think Electronic has only around 10% margin rate or lower. But 1 month time, is it possible? Any past experience that you can. Share?

i already a customer pre order and i sold many freebies before so yes i can see the massive value. For me that RM400 discount can be alot more further after pre order

Example the 2 years warranty. Just that itself you already missed out the massive value. you have an additional 1 year to have a piece of mind
*
What is the selling value of the items or freebies that you planned to sold? How fast can you sell it? What are the hassles you need to go through to sell it? Have you include your time, and petrol and efforts in negotiating?

Again, the value of the warranty lies in the unknown or grey area. I'm not sure about you. I am for sure I won't be using this device for more than 1year. And when the next beast is out, and when I sell my s8, my cost is always based at 3.3k. and your cost is 3699. I would say my risk is lowered? I've been through multiple selling and buying of electronics and myself is in marketing. I know how all these freebies catch consumer minds. Again, I'm just sharing my thought and everyone is different in seeing value .

i been following samsung since note 2.  I only pre order if the freebies is massive if not you wait you be surprise how huge the discount can be, You also notice RRP samsung vs 3rd party dealer will have a bigger gap in price.
*
Ahh, I see. You should try using different brands and each of them offer different surprises and marketing gimmicks.

Rrp different from reseller is always the case. But like what you said, If you want peace of mind, people sure buy from Samsung store.cause it's truly authetic. If you're buying from 3rd party, with lower price. Authenticity might be sth that you need to worried. Right?

QUOTE(LordDenning @ May 2 2017, 11:47 PM)
you forgot the powerbank.
I would say it is more or less the same in value, the only difference being one is in freebies and another is discounted phone price..

as for me, i myself am planning to sell off the starter kit for maybe around 200-250. and maybe the powerbank too. I have a lot of powerbank at home but most are micro usb and not usb type C so maybe I would keep it.
But I guess I could sell it for about rm100.

So realistically speaking I could coup about rm300 from selling the freebies which is not too far off from the discounted price you get minus the freebies. But of course all this is provided I manage to find buyers in the first place. So some effort is needed here compared to yours which is outright savings already.

But the difference now I have is, I still have extended warranty and one time screen replacement. So not too bad I would say.
Oh and also that extended warranty + screen replacement you cant really put a monetary value on its worth since its like an insurance. If you did not buy it and you so happen to crack your screen, then all the arguments we made  for our case above just goes out the window as that replacement itself is definitely costing more than rm1000.
So if you were to say go get the same protection plan which is rm250, then your phone price is rm 2900+rm250 = rm 3150. While I paid rm 3300 for mine and if I manage to sell the starter kit my actual cost is rm 3100.

As I said its value is almost similar with one another, no big difference in savings from one or the other.

Just my 2cents.
*
Totally agreed with your pov. I have no time to find buyers and I know for sure the phone will not be with me for long. So the warranty is a grey area as mentioned above. I prefer seeing the immediate saving which save so much time. You must be at your late 20s, I'm sure you're in my generation. Lolz

I asked Samsung dealer earlier and they said no. Only charging kit and powerbank plus the case, sp and cables

It's from the pre order package. Only first 7000 buyers are entitled. Which I believe there are around 10000 buyers who are entitled. To it.

QUOTE(Velocity @ May 3 2017, 12:00 AM)
it depends you see it a big trouble because you are inexperience for me i see it opportunity so different people are different.

I have not offended you in any way by using any big words, but you came in and mentioned me being inexperience. I have lost counts on how many deals or trades i have in Lyn, mudah and lelong. I would never think that it's a trouble to me at all in selling or buying items on these portal.

Yes i agree freebies are a marketing gimic but its how you take advantage of the opportunity. If the item freebies worth RM999 but you can buy it for RM199 its a marketing gimic but if the item is value RM399 and for to buy it outside is also RM399 its no more gimic. That item u claim is a gimic increase your resell value or someone want it.

TBH, i have no idea what're you trying to say here.

Since you said grey area you have total no say if you do not entitle the warranty, if you are knowledgeable and know the right ppl just 1 email all issued settled so as i said it depends where you are in life.

Hey bro, if say there is 100,000 people in Malaysia who bought this item, that's about 0.3% of Malaysia population. With you sharing this here. Say, 10% or lesser of these 100,000 consumers are active in this post, there will be 10,000 of consumers who might send an email to the CEO of SME just to get the warranty honored by SME. Do you think the CEO will take note of this? I am pretty sure they will crown you for what you've jsut said. smile.gif

Previously i had a samsung machine, I call service centre and email samsung malaysia , told me warranty no more and bla bla. I just write 1 email to someone higher, immediately samsung malaysia representative call me, come to my door step replace for free FOC. I can show you the invoice.

What's the percentage of this to happen to any of the Malaysian? TBH, it's very well depends on the marketing budgets. Again, seeing you as a no.1 Samsung loyal customers. I guess they would do anything just for ya. Happy for you.

So i also sharing my thoughts and experience.

For me is different i will certainly use this phone at least 3 years so those warranty and freebies i need it but at anytime i wanna sell it i will get it as discount.

As what you said below, electronic will depreciate, the moment you get this piece of device, including your freebies, you will have to sell at least 10-20% lowered than RRP just to get its liquidity in selling these items. Again, you're experienced, so i think you can sell it very fast at a very great value. Kudos to that, i will offer my set to you soon, so that you can buy my units at a higher price and sell it to the market at even higher price. I will leave the profit 100% to you. Deal?

Always remember an electronic have depreciate value. U value your item at 3.3k .  When a new device launch your depreciate value is depend on market value not on your purchase price.

Yea. You're damn right. And sorry, i do not value my unit at 3.3k, i said my cost of the device is at 3.3k. and you have forgotten on one important thing, market value is determined by how the competitor react to your phones & brands. Also, it's very much depends on how fast SME launch their new device. Looking at the rate, 10 months for a new S9? but that time, S8 new unit cost around 2299- 2599 << this is what happened to the S7E yea? Second hand resell value, depends on condition, with your warranty expired at 2019 mid year. I guess, at most 1800 for your s8?

So take it your phone 3.3k depreciate till 2.5k u can sell 2.5k at the time of selling your phone is value at no warranty and excluding all your expenses on screen protector/case and etc

i would be happy to sell my unit to you at Rm2.2k, you can keep the 300. I will pm you once i want to let go my s8+.

while my 2.5k still have an additional warranty and freebies including casing, sp, charger value so i can resell my item at 2.7k or 3k

Like you said, at that time, they would have better casing, better sp and better powerbank at a much afforadable price. looking at how fast the technology advance. no surprise element here.

So what are your option trade in to samsung to lose additional RM500
I guess you traded in your Samsung note 2, note 5 and note 7 to SME?

*
Let me analyze your replies as above. Just my 2 cents.

Cheers
