The problem with it is because its red on white, hence its obvious. Most of the menus and interfaces are WHITE (e.g dialer and contacts menu, setting's menu), not black like past versions of android, therefore its obvious about this red tint..
and its INCONSISTENT. Some are full screen red tint, some at bottom whilst top is ok and vice versa, and some are edges only!. So how to explain that? You cant say its amoled properties when its that inconsistent, and this is my experience from opening 4 boxes only. If I open 4 box and 3/4 has some sort of red tint issue then if you look at the bigger picture, of total galaxy s8 out there.. at first I was denial mode too, but when experience it myself I know its true and hence I understand why got ppl raise this red tint issue..
anyway, in my 6 hours in Gardens I observed that im the only one there for a 1 to 1 exchange. The rest took their device and check very fast and left, most probably they not aware of it or chose the "live with it" option. So means they are happy with the device. Thats what matters.
in the end of the day, those chose to live with it are happy, and me who change change change is happy too.
I get what you are trying to point out. But as I pointed out, whats white? Even when you get your fourth unit, you still compare to the demo unit to make sure you get as white if not whiter than it. Amoled has never render white as white. It has to go through tweaking the color balance to do so. It has twice the green than red and blue, not to mention the imbalance in the subpixel of different colors.
Inconsistency is just part of the manufacturing process. Different machine, different calibration etc. Machine may be more consistent than a human being but is it really 100% faultless each time, probably not.
Anyway, just to close on this matter. I never stop you from exchanging as many times as you want but rather stop being paranoid over is my screen is red or green. You can always find a demo to compare and then choose which one you prefer. This version of amoled does shift color more severely from different angle than any that I have been using previously, no doubt about that. Previous version would have slightly yellow or even pink tint when viewed from steeper angle.
