Just go to a shop, try both, see the games offered, READ news, reviews and anything about these two consoles and decide for yourself...

If you can make the effort to post this thread on lowyat.net...i'm sure you can load up google and do a little reading...it wouldn't hurt if you tried not to be the typical spoonfeeded malaysian

for me, there's no such thing as 360 is better than wii, or vice versa. it's all depend on u, the gamer. to make decision a lot easier, do set yr gaming preference. again for me, if u want
1. gorgeous graphic,
2. to delve into online gaming,
3. serious action games,

then try 360.

and pick wii if u
1. love pure fun games
2. want to play light & easy gaming style
3. friends & family oriented game
4. are a platform lover

and in the end, i believe that what is the most important thing is that u want to be satisfied by any one of them. or both. hor hor.

please dont spread rumors that are not true. the xbox 360 does not have a "terrible hardware failure problem".

yes, its true that some of the LYNers' 360 have failed but if you looked at the numbers, its just a small percentage. it's not as widespread as everyone thinks.

if we believe MS numbers of 3~5% defect rate of an installed base of ~10 million worldwide, that leaves us with >300,000 cases

hard to get solid real-life numbers. i only read english, so i only read the forums here, and at bob.sg and the xbox sg forums to get a sense of the problem. LYN cases ~40 lor, estimated LYN forumers with 360s ~250.

its really the luck of the draw. i think the chances of scoring 3RoD is still higher than winning tomorrow's magnum consolation prize

3ROD only occurs on random, and like any other electronic equipments it just the matter of luck..but it also can occur if:

1. the owner is lacking the habit to clean his/her room, thus transforming the console into an expensive dust collector thingy..
2. ventilation..cramp ur console in a tight corner, play it over night, and tomorrow morning u'll have a brand new paperweight..

juz becoz we have a dedicated thread to discuss this kind of thing in the Xbox forum it doesn't mean that 3ROD occurs too frequently, and also if by any chance 3ROD happens to ur console u can always send it back where it came from(or to experts) for repairs..

If the graphic is not important to u and u like to play a game mostly with your family then go for wii but if you like to play more action game,FPS and with good graphic just go for 360.But there also a good action game in Wii like red steel.But if u like football game,360 is the best choice for u

if you've had enough of just sitting down and playing playstation's / xbox's then go for the wii. not saying that the wii's better, just a whole different gaming experience.

The whole thing about a different gaming experience is true, but the Wii lacks in-depth games. FPS games, RTS especially should have made it out and shined the Wii, unfortunately, we are blessed with mini-game crap.

*I* yearn to see/play a game, completely different, and full of depth. Final Fantasy might make that come true. Maybe SEGA's Alien Syndrome will give me bang for my bucks with friends. (unnlike Gimmicky ported Marvel Alliances with very few and sucky gesture moves)

personally for me it was a no brainer. The 360 is what i wanted. Motion sensor is cool and all that but i just do not see myself wanting tendinitis playing a game system. Plus most of the Wii games are for kids and they really lack the edgy type of games that i play.

It is really like anything else, it is a matter of personal preference. People who owned prior Nintendo systems will most likely lean toward getting a Wii, where prior Xbox owners will want a 360.
Or if you are a real gamehead you will just own them all.

all i can say is that the 360 games rival that of a good PC game. Great graphics and gameplay (with the VGA cable upgrade).

Wii is a better buy because
1) High Xbox 360 failure rate - you dont want an expensive dead console do you?
2) Wii games - you can play with your family and friends!
3)Wii is cheaper
4) Fun to play - yes! lot of my frens who will never touch a console is playing wii games like natural gamers... i cant believe it myself


Im not saying DONT buy 360 ever but once microsoft fix the hardware failure issue, then i will get one.

depends on the games really. ask yourself what u want to play first. Games make the console , not the other way round.

if you have weight problem and lazy to go exercise.... go for Wii. it will help you reduce weight....hehehehe. just play game that got many movement...

wait till thy release the stable version using the 60nm tech.. thy are upgrading the parts now as we speak. so should be less destructive. haha. ps3 is a buyer now cause thy taking off the emotion engine and substitute with the emulator now.

for god sakes, do your research la a bit. if you like a particular genre of games, find out which console has the best and most titles of that genre available (or coming soon).

remember, one man meat's is another man's poison. the Wii may rock but it actually may not be the right one for you. likewise for the 360. The best is you do your research, give both consoles a try at the shops. after all, no one knows you best other than yourself.

to me wii is a joke man.. really.. some games the implementation of the nunchuck n the controller is really bad. its really sad to see good games being destroyed by ultra crappy controller scheme..

PS3 older models till the new 80gb rolls out has the ps2 emotion engine pyhsically inbuild to play ps2 games..
the new batch has tat removed to cut down cost and the ps2 games emulated using the cell processor..

I was contemplating getting the X360 or Wii and was leaning heavily towards the X360 until I found out games like GoW and Viva Pinata are going to be released on the PC so I chose the Wii instead

^ well I might not own a Wii, but from what reviews n news that I hear, see n read online, they are not that kind to the Wii these days.

Put it simpler, the Wii is a party game machine, whoop it out n play family games. Dont expect to play and enjoy any FPS or even RTS on it. Driving sims also would lack on that console.
The 360 n PS3 is more catered to a matured audience.

I agree with what shumaky has to say. The reason I went with the Wii in the end instead of an X360 was because although it doesn't have the games he mentioned, I don't intend to play them anywhere but on my PC. So I've got my PC for my FPSes and RTSes (where they rightfully should be, PC > All), and the Wii is for everything else fun and family / party oriented

It depends on what rocks your boat. Wii is built on the same concept that Super Mario Bros set on the NES decades ago. Simple, but fun. Most Nintendo games (cept for Zelda and the newer Metroid) are built on this same concept, so it's easy to see why "hardcore" gamers don't like it.

But for the rest, I don't think anyone will miss an FPS or RTS game on the Wii. For surely most Wii owners won't care much, since they didn't buy the Wii for games like that
