i just bought myself Vista Ultimate DVD, it's a very impressive packaging, much more better than XP. but unfortunately, my DVD drive fail, very unfortunate. i heard ppl said that OS can be installed via network, but wondering how can this be done via a notebook through my PC using LAN? the vista manual dont have this instruction at all, damn doh.gif .

i think it's easier to just get a new drive coz to deploy via LAN you need something similar to deploying XP - a RIS (remote installation service) server (in the case of vista, it's using the new WDS server (windows deployment services)).

you'll need to setup a RIS/WDS server, create the image file, answer scripts, share folders, DHCP setup, configure the image manager to deploy the modules, etc.

technet has all the details on it.
