Guys, actually if you don't want Video-Onz because of the speed cap (like me), you can contact U Mobile customer service and tell them you want to opt-out/disable Video-Onz. After that, any video streaming you do will deduct your main data quota. The best thing I like is, no speed cap, so watch YouTube 1080p without worrying about buffering (unless if that particular area is having bandwidth issues, then don't say la).

dont ask more la, why not up sikit speed capped to 2mbps or 2.5mbps so that customer can stream 720p without hassle. also not utilise main quota..i think 720p is enough for youtube/netflix streaming even on desktop..sure you can opt out video onz by sms, but the oppoprtunity cost that your main quota will be utilized..hurmm...Me average video onz >30gb  a month..

From what we see "Wow extra quota for video streaming, very good la U Mobile"

From what they (U Mobile) see "We reduce the bandwidth speed for video streaming so that it won't stress or cause major network congestion due to video streaming, in return we provide more quota for them"

U Mobile knows that majority of consumers (especially non tech savvy ones) are putting plans offering first, instead of network performance first. Consumers sure will get attracted and easily gain public attention with "more quota" and "unlimited" stuff. Who doesn't like more when you can get for less? So they introduce Video-Onz that limits video streaming bandwidth of 1.5Mbps (suitable for SD 480p streaming) is all because they want to have control with the network bandwidth, instead of we, consumers keep watching videos in 1080p and eventually made majority of their mobile towers congested. They don't have such capabilities to provide or upgrade bandwidth/towers in a short time like Maxis, Celcom and Digi do, where U Mobile want to increase subscribers base fast by providing the most affordable and competitive plans/offerings compared to the big 3 telcos. Indeed, U Mobile is very smart to have this idea.

So, don't expect them to increase the Video-Onz speed cap limit anytime soon... It will be stucked for 1.5Mbps for a long time.

If you're heavy video streaming user and you don't like the buffering because of the 1.5Mbps speed cap, and if you don't want to opt out Video-Onz, well then that's what you get for "get more but pay less" or known as paying "not much money for premium service". If you use a lot of GBs for video streaming, and you're expecting great streaming experience (e.g. no buffering even at 1080p), definitely you got to opt out Video-Onz so that you wont have the speed cap limit, and then subscribe data plans that offers a lot of quota, and a higher price of cos. Remember, once you're on U Mobile network, you shall not expecting a premium network performance from them. You can only expect an "average, satisfied enough" network from them. U Mobile prioritise on quantity rather than quality. If you want better network, you got no choice but to port out to other telcos and choose their more expensive plans.

In conclusion, you'll get "something in return" when you get more by paying less.

Make sure your mobile hotspot setting "Allow devices only" is turned off. Meaning that any devices can connect to your hotspot.

If "allowed devices only" option is turned off, then what plan are you using?

*
Are you able to surf internet as usual on the phone that you use for the hotspot? If yes, reboot your phone and try again.

If not, it could be network issue if the particular area, such as network congestion either 3G or 4G network, poor signal (depends how many signal bars you get). Try go outdoors to get better signal.

Mine is u38. My fren plan to MNP his prepaid line to digi. He ask me can he sell his prepaid amount to my postpaid ? Like credit transfer ?
*
If between different telco confirm cannot.
If between same telco can, bring forward prepaid balance and then offset to postpaid, but maximum RM100 cap. Anything more than that will be forfeited.

According to the FAQ, cannot transfer to U Mobile postpaid. Only between prepaid to prepaid.

Maximum RM100 or 10 times in a month, whichever comes first.

Question. If i reload rm365 so i get 365 validity. But will this means i get 1 whole year of basic internet too??
*
Well, you can't do bulk reloads as you can only top-up maximum of 5 times or RM250 per phone number in a month. But theoretically yes, you shall get 1 whole year of basic internet if you keep on topping up until your validity is until next year.

But then, why you want to do that? Why not just top up by monthly basis?

hi guys, any different on mobile data speed between P78 and P98 for video streaming purpose?

currently I'm on P98 and planning to downgrade to P78 if the data speed is acceptable...
*
P78 = Unlimited quota, but speed up to 5Mbps. Unlimited video streaming at 1.5Mbps (Video-Onz)
P98 = 30GB quota, no speed cap, best effort basis. Unlimited video streaming at 1.5Mbps (Video-Onz)

All U Mobile prepaid and postpaid plans that comes with Video-Onz, the speed is limited to 1.5Mbps, which is 480p smooth SD streaming.

Sometimes, my youtube on 480p stutters. doh.gif
*
Then it might be either the particular video's bitrate is higher than usual, even in 480p. Or, you are in an area where the download speed is lower than 1.5Mbps, causing buffering even in 480p.

Not very sure, but I first noticed it at TTDI near tunnel area my iPhone 5 getting lte signal so I'm assuming it's lte advance has been enabled in that area
*
Oh... Looks that U Mobile 1800MHz is available in that area... Because iPhone 5 does not support 2600MHz, which is the only frequency band used by U Mobile all these years... Now they got 1800MHz.

does lte advance use 2 frequency bands?
*
One of the key features of LTE Advanced is the Carrier Aggregation (CA) feature. It is to combine the network bandwidth from multiple LTE frequency bands instead of using only one frequency band like the usual LTE.
With Carrier Aggregation, users can enjoy much faster speeds from the telco.

Maxis, Celcom and Digi uses both 1800MHz and 2600MHz for CA, while all this time, U Mobile is 2600MHz only (which explains why you won't get LTE service on iPhone 5). But soon, U Mobile will use both 1800Mhz and 2600MHz for LTE Advanced's CA function as they have awarded a frequency spectrum on 1800MHz last year, allowing them to not only expanding their coverage, but also better providing indoor coverage, thanks to its lower frequency.

So, you can say that if you see "4G+" or "LTE+" on the top of the phone notification bar, that means you are utilizing carrier aggregation as part of LTE Advanced network feature. Which also means, your phone is transmit/receive 2 or even more (so far Malaysia only 2 max) frequency bands at the same time, so that you can enjoy faster speeds from 2 different frequency bands. Of course, this will somewhat consume a little bit more phone battery power because of multiple frequencies is used at the same time.

This one is only for iPhones.
For Samsung, open Phone app, dial *0011#. If you are using phone that has dual SIM, you will see STACK 1 and STACK 2. To check which band you're on on SIM 1 slot, select STACK 1, or STACK 2 for SIM 2 slot.
Then you will see the Band number.

Band 1: 2100MHz (3G only)
Band 3: 1800MHz (2G and 4G LTE)
Band 5: 850MHz (webe's LTE only)
Band 7: 2600MHz (4G LTE only)
Band 8: 900MHz (2G and 3G only)
Band 38: 2500MHz (Yes 4G LTE only)
Band 40: 2300MHz (Yes 4G LTE only)

Oh yea, almost forgot... Webe will utilise LTE Advanced with 3 band Carrier Aggregation, which is Band 5 (850MHz FDD LTE), Band 38 (2500MHz TDD LTE) and 40 (2300MHz TDD LTE).
Thanks zher4883 for reminding.
