SG sales figure hard to ascertain, because the figure includes both official as well as grey models (JDMs).

http://www.carbuyer.com.sg/news/1161-singa...-brands-in-2016

However, Honda was #1 in 2016 in Singpaore.

Yeah, perodua's win in 2 major important where mostly Malaysian demand for everyday task.
- 1st is cheapest selling price and no other competitor can compete.
- 2nd is the most fuel saving and cheapest maintenance costs. whistling.gif whistling.gif

Indonesia no proton and perodua, second this toyota model also very fuel efficient in it's category, plus can fetch 7 passengers. Sames things in Malaysia, if proton and perodua hopefully close shop in future, sure toyota is the best selling at that time period. whistling.gif whistling.gif

Don't complain underpower, we had no other choice, because 90% rakyat so poor, can't afford a car, even Axia E consider expensive already, less than 3% from people can afford installment below 3 years. 3 years above is a burden. That's no included other expenses and other primary factor is fuel costs every week increase! bye.gif mad.gif

I was referring to local basic vs japanese brand (be it Toyota or Honda). Local people mostly can't afford better car, that's why many buy lowest basic car such as Axia, it shows our purchasing power is actually very low.

You may look in this way too.

http://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Companies/...ows-246-in-2016

In 2016, 359,572 cars was sold in Philippines.

http://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/govt...ustry-says-miti

580,124 cars was sold in MY.

But then, Philippine car loan maximum is 5 years, while in Malaysia, the maximum is 9 years.

arghhh ...

it's not making sense,

- lower wages,

- higher fuel price

- worst traffic

- relatively taxing tolls

- lower repayment period.

and yet still more bigger car, and hardly any motobike.

seem like theyre doing something right?

Car loan requirement is different in other countries.

In Philippines, pay 20% downpayment, maximum 5 years.

It can be assumed those who can afford cars in PH is often richer than in MY.

This is because Philippine car loan often requires 20% downpayment with a maximum period of 5 years.

You may look in this way too.

http://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Companies/...ows-246-in-2016

In 2016, 359,572 cars was sold in Philippines.

http://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/govt...ustry-says-miti

580,124 cars was sold in MY.

But then, Philippine car loan maximum is 5 years, while in Malaysia, the maximum is 9 years.
*
hmm.. i guess philipine still better than malaysia. take it this way, most of malaysian take 9 years loan. imagine if philipine get the same 9 years loan facilities - they still choose vios and the sales sure increase one.

Its crazy to drive in manila. From airport to makati/manila is like from subang airport to paradigm mall but it takes 3 hours in traffic jam? Crazy.

I think 30 mil vs 100 mil population doea play a part.
