Yes, most apply another cashback card for weekday usage and reserve Amex for weekend spending.

Some places don't take Amex also, so be mindful of that. Otherwise, just push the big ticket items up to RM1k towards weekend to get the 5% and 5x TP.

Then get another CC for weekdays with cashback.

I am wondering of which card to apply. Never use Amex before so quite in doubt of its acceptance.

Now I'm looking at Ikhwan Visa Gold or 2 cards. Currently holding CIMB cash rebate for petrol. And would like to have MBB cards for ease of finding ezypay merchant and also for groceries and petrol weekend spending.

Appreciate if someone can suggest which one is better?

Different types of cards. I have both. No need to upgrade, just apply while retaining M2Cards.
M2Cards AmEx is more flexible in term of cash back though need to spend on weekends. It has no AF.

VS is good for groceries and petrol everyday. I like the PayWave as I use it a lot for my groceries without hogging line too long. I even tap for below RM 10. Bad thing is it has AF which cannot be waived unless you spend 30k. Mine will require 50k before it revised the waiver requirement, I cannot achieve it and next month is anniversary already, time to cancel.

VS is for groceries and petrol only, not all categories. I also have that card, useful but with AF. M2Cards AmEx more flexible but I like both cards which serve different purposes.

So far, only my corporate credit card supplied by company gives 30 days, the rest of commercial cards is 20 days.
