QUOTE(Kitteh @ Sep 11 2012, 09:24 PM) Hey guys.. I have an offer waiting for me to sign and start work asap yet at the same time, lets say I am recommended after having my SI.. then should I wait and reject that offer? Take the offer in front of you first. Don't wait for Petronas, it could take months (after passing your SI), before they finally secured a position for you. Or maybe you want to read this whole thread, where there are many people who had passed their SIs but were not offered any position. I bet you don't want to fall into 'yang dikejar tak dapat, yang dikendong berciciran'.

Otai has already answered your question, Kitteh My advice is: everything is possible with Petronas HR. Always expect the unexpected. Always. I pray that I don't have to deal with them again in the future, even in real life.

QUOTE(azraeil @ Sep 15 2012, 06:20 PM) Petrophysicist usually belongs to the Petroleum Engineering Division but they can also be in the exploration division as well. I joined as a fresh grad. Yes, fresh grads comes in as an E1 executive. I know that PETRONAS is going to change their salary grading soon but entrance grade will still be E1. Bro Azraeil, mind elaborating on this one?

Don't put your hopes too high. Should the one that's called you is Carigali's, there's no guarantee that you'll be offered a position according to your qualifications and/ or background.
Having said that, chances to get hired are pretty high though, as they've been hiring like crazy for quite some time now. September alone, those attending and scheduled to attend PIPE are as high as 300++ people.

Waiting will benefit you nothing, kopitiam. As others and I had stressed earlier in this very thread, always expect the unexpexted when dealing with PETRONAS' HR. By always I mean, all the time.
Make the first move. If they don't give you a call, call them. But make sure to hang up after a few ringing tones. I forget whether it's 3 or 4. Otherwise you'll be re-directed to voicemail, which will cost you money.

They have, it's called rantau petronas if i'm not mistaken. But there's a possibility that it's has been fully occupied by the senior staffs. Why don't you give the HR a call? They'll be happy to answer.

QUOTE(oshee @ Oct 12 2012, 06:07 PM) Hi, Just got an email from Petronas HRM, they're holding off my offer letter for now due to the fact that I've had failed the lipid serum test for cholesterol. I'll need to repeat the blood test next month at my own cost . Anyone have had experience the same? But on positive side they'll secure the position for me until I deem fit for employment . TQ in advance for your valuable response Dont worry. It's 'curable'. Ask any doctors, pharmacists about how to lower your cholesterol. They'll teach you. There are even supplements for those with readings all over the roof, but I dont think you would need this. All the best!

Hmm. This one needs bro Azraeil to answer.
But IMHO, the word 'Petronas' itself will make your resume more valuable, hence higher salary, let say 50% increment, could be expected. Not to mention middle east's o&g companies that were said to favor professional Malaysians.

QUOTE(azraeil @ Oct 17 2012, 01:41 PM) @Kitteh, There is no such thing as your experience being considered diluted due to the mass hiring. Your work experience is individual. As long as you have the righ attitude, not shy in asking your seniors relevant questions, willing to take challenging assignments and delivering your assignments on time and with quality work, then all other MNCs will be eager to hire you. My company has around 80 Malaysian families and 50 of them are ex-Petronas, 10 ex-Shella and another 10 ex-Exxon. As you can see, Petronas staff are highly regarded in the industry. When I was offered the position with my current company, my salary package was 5 times higher than my Petronas salary. Now it will be about 2 times higher as Petronas has gone into an aggressive staff retention mode for those in critical skills group. My company usually hires people with 10 years experience or more but have lowered it down to 6 years for Malaysian as we have shown them that we are extremely capable in doing the jobs. Get as much experience as you can while in Petronas. I will forever be grateful to Petronas for giving me the opportunity to gain experience in the industry and I have to say that the staff development program that they have in Petronas is world class. Good Luck. Bro Azraeil, Any of these 50 were in SKG 16 back then in Petronas?

QUOTE(azraeil @ Oct 20 2012, 12:19 PM) Yes, I know several engineers on the process side of things who is working in Aramco. They were previosuly from MLNG and some from Penapisan Melaka/Kerteh so SKG16 (Process Tech) is also in demand from my company. I also know that more and more on the engineering side is coming over Thanks for the info, bro Azraeil. I'm relieved to know that generalist (SKG 16) could also cari makan at Middle East. All this while I thought only specialists (discipline engineers ie. process, electrical engineer etc) stand a chance of being employed there. Guess I have an option available should working with Petronas is no longer in best interest for me.

QUOTE(pakciklebah @ Oct 25 2012, 12:07 PM) Help me on this. I'm fresh graduate, convo last month. finished my SI early of this month and CBI last week. Got call from PCSB personnel mentioned that i passed both interview. She said that they are currently arranging available position 'anytime soon'. My questions are: 1. How long actually this 'anytime soon'? 2. It is compulsory for all new hired petronas worker to go for training? 3. Where expected working location for me? (junior executive, degree in chemical eng, Petronas Carigali) Still looking for job now, want to work but my friend suggested just wait for petronas, because it is hard to berhenti kerja when u get a job already. Please help me... Apparently you asked the wrong person. Unless you're Japanese and working for a Japanese company in Japan, it's never hard to quit your job when you have one.

Yup. It's a simple math.
After 1 year (let say there's no increment):
Tier 3 in peninsular: rm4000
Tier 2 in east msia: rm4000 + rm800 (tech allowance) + rm 400 (EM allowance)
Difference: rm1200.

The technical allowance is a bit tricky. Some say you'll get it after confirmation, which is after 6 months. While some say after 1 year in service.

QUOTE(mangoman @ Nov 15 2012, 06:21 PM) You are wrong. The tech allowance will be absorbed into you basic salary. So after 1 year (assuming there is no increment), RM4800 (basic salary including the incorporated tech allowance) + RM 480 (10% EM allowance) = RM5280. Wallaweh.. It's higher than I'd expected.. Nice2 QUOTE No need to listen to some say, hear say or whatever say. It is after one year in service. Cheers. Duly noted. Btw bro, does this tech allowance stay at rm800 throughout our service in Petronas? Or will it be increased once we're promoted to E2, E3 and so on?

Yup. Drilling is now in all new skg25. Added on November 15, 2012, 9:21 pmQUOTE(alhakam88 @ Nov 15 2012, 09:02 PM) I am also still figuring this out. From what i know, there is increment about 1-2k from e1 to e2 and more for e2 to e3. E4 and above will get special allowance like car about 1.5k and other allowances. Plus u r entitled first class business travel for E4 and above. That are the perks when u r promoted. It takes time and often time longer than expected. it is expected to 3-5 years to be e2 and so on. But i meet people are staying in e1 more than 7 years. It is also based on your ACD, where u have to meet certain technical competency critirea in order to be promoted. If u can close all the gap faster in ACD, u get promoted faster. For me, i see that it is challenging for me to meet all the requirement. I have to find my own time to learn. So it is rezeki.... if u work where all your jobscopes are in ACD is very good. U get promoted faster. Nothing surprising here actually. I've met someone who has been in E1 for 8 years, refusing to be promoted because of personal reasons. I think there are reasons on why drilling was moved to the all new skg25. They may not do the drilling at the platform themselves, but they must know all the details of the drilling. So they deserved the highest pay, IMO. Btw, you could change to be a drilling engineer after 3 years, provided your background is either petroleum/ mech engineering, and got approval from your current & future bosses.
