Guy. I think I need to share this.
Yesterday, my eco idle battery gave itself up! I just parked by the roadside, went to my daughter's school to pick her up, shut down the car for about 10 minutes only, and when I came back to the car, tried to start it but no good.
Just the gekgekgek trrrrrttt sound.
I take a look at my volt meter(its a mobile phone charger with car voltage display. brand is remax. quite good. can get it for RM35) My power is at 12.4v. Should be good enough to start the car. But still can't start at all.
I've also monitored my volt during eco idle. my car will start when the volt is dropping below 12v. and during startup it will go down to 0.9v and up to 13.7v when running.
Ok back to the time I can't start the car. So I give a call to perodua assist and then the tow truck guy came and jump start my car. (response time is around 30 minutes. Good Job!) only one crank(actually one push start hehehe),
It came alive
Then I drove to my favorite service center to ask them to check on it. From the inspection, it was confirmed that my battery died already. The warranty for the eco idle battery is only for 12months or 20,000km (it was stated in the manual!).
My mileage is already 27k so can kiss goodbye for a free replacement. The SC guys quoted me for RM480 for a new M42 idle start stop battery. But they says they can also install to me a cheaper NS40 perodua battery for RM195. But eco idle will not work he says. Since I'm poorfag, so I opted for the NS40.
Guess what, Eco idle still works but not as long as before. Around 10-30 second. Very annoying.
Few tips or sign that your battery will die soon.
1) Your eco idle is not working as frequent as before. It takes sometimes before you get the green eco idle indicator again not like when you bought it new.
2) during startup, the eco idle light indicator will turn yellow and keeps flashing few times after startup. its like a final sign. In happens to me for around 5 days before the battery die.
3) your milage is above 20k. mine gave way at 27k. quite good.
4) you can ask the pomen to check your battery during service. I got my 20k service at 23k. He warned me that my battery charge is low and please be ready. he says.
I think thats. All. And also, I found out, you can always purchase NS40 at other shop for waaaay cheaper price than perodua. But I scared to take the risk if any problem arise that will void my warranty.
also, one final thing, the battery M42 in the internet got 2 prices. 1) Yuasa Eco, selling RM385(carbattery.com.my 2) Varta. RM320(lelong.com.my)
