Eh it's not bad at all.
I did not skip Wii U era, and I bought Mario Bros Wii U and also the Luigi physical copies at full price
Which is like 300+ all together..

219 is cheap. buy buy buy brows.gif
*
Huh? I thought new Super Mario Bros and New Super Luigi also came in one package? I bought mine for RM1xx, 2 discs. Sold off now and hacked my WiiU and gone digital...lol.

10k MAH Pineng good enough? Or is it need a specialize PB?

Is it advisable to get BOTW new or 2nd will suffice? As the place I wanna buy the switch gives a game free. I was thinking Splatoom 2 or SSBU. But everyone is hyping me to get BOTW.

Should I invest in a bigger SD 1st or this can wait as the internal memory is enough?
*
Please dont buy cheap PB for your switch. It will not be able to charge and play at the same time or worse, nuke your switch.

I use this Anker A1275 which is compliant to PD (Power Delivery) standard, needed for your Switch. It is basically the same model used by official Nintendo PB. But Nintendo's model is more expensive (and it is only 10,000 Mah, i think). Havent see the equivalent 20100Mah for Nintendo's Official PB here.

Anyway, this is one item you dont want to skimp on price.

My right side joycon also started to give problems. Like the home button kept being pressed. Can be repaired?
*
If you can find home button spare part...but so far i have seen, only the Analog stick spare parts. But maybe you can try dismantle it and check the button. Then use a WD40 Dry Contact Cleaner, spray the hell out of it and hopes miracle happens. It works for analog drifting stick...but buttons i dont know...but hey we all knows about WD40 legends....there is nothing it can't fix! (A bottle of WD40 Dry contact cleaner is about RM 2x on Lazada).

Ok I get it. I will check the Anker PB out. I went on youtube, some reviewers said that, I will need a PB that can keep up with the switch charging voltage, or something to that extent.

Can anyone suggest a good budgeted gaming monitor, for my docked switch and PS4 Pro. Currently using a Sony Bravia. I heard a monitor is better for gaming.
*
Honestly, i think TVs looks way better than monitors, unless it's premium monitors. Unless you want a smaller screen to play on a desk, i think it's not neccessary to get a monitor. And i think budget monitor will definitely look worse.

hahahaa done already. now time to shop lol. so the online mode need to sub the nintendo online eh? kinda like ps+ n xbox live?
*
Yes...but iits a rip off for its price, try get a Family plan and share it with other people.

Imo, you only need NSO if you play SSBU, Mariokart, Splatoon. If you dont play a lot of online, there is no need to subscribe.

This is the launch model.
So option 1 is out.

Might go for option 2.

I already own another set of joycons and procontroller.
Just that 4 player party games are a not possible to play now.
I’ll wait for the new switch refresh then.
*
Suggestion, get a Mayflash/8bitdo and use any controllers laying around the house. I recommend Mayflash because it has USB port for wired controllers as well. Using my old Xbox360 SF IV controllers to play SF 30th Annivessary!

Thanks.
But I kinda need joycons for Mario party.
I’ll try to get it fixed. Else I’ll just wait for the new switch.

If drifting problem, i can help. If no connection i dunno lah...

I have a big bottle of WD40 Dry Contact cleaner. Fixed my left joycon drifting problems sometime ago. Just 2 sprays.

Heck if anyone got drifting problem, just meet up somewhere i can pinjam my bottle to spray. Lol.

I see. I will be moving to a new home soon, and will be having a designated game room. Was thining of hooking up a gaming monitor. But the prices..oh man.. I'll stick with my Bravia for the time being la. Its just taking up space now coz its not hung up on my wall..just standing on my table
*
Your Bravia how big?

Why not just get a cheap 40" 4K HDR TV? I think around RM1.2 to RM 1.5k can get.

I saw some gaming monitors (not cheap one) running some games in shops running PS4 games......frankly, my TV still looks better. Unless you need like 144Hz playing on high end PC i think no point. PS4 max also 60fps.

Err..gaming monitor how much btw, i have never bothered to ask...lol.

40" (I think) but not 4K. It was a wedding gift 6 years ago. I currently hook up both my switch and PS4 Pro there, along with my Raspberry Pi. I wish I can afford a 4K tv soon, never tried my PS in 4k.

Looking around online and doing research, its in between RM800 to 1.2K.
*
I got 4K TV, but PS Slim only can do 1080p, lol. Anyway, since yours already 40", no need to do anything. Just use it until it spoilt. Save money for 55" 4K HDR TV next!

QUOTE(clivengu @ Apr 11 2019, 01:03 PM)
I have been considering if I should be getting a Nintendo Switch, and would like to hear what can I expect from this gaming console?

A little of my gaming history. I never have been a console gamer. I never owned any playstation/xbox console in my life. The only one I ever owned probably is the NES classic from 30 years agoΒ  whistling.gif growing up playing games like super mario bros n tetris.
Ever since then, I have been a PC gamer, starting with Diablo, Starcraft, Halflife, Skyrim, Counter strike etc. Now I am only a casual gamer, occasionally playing some game like GTAV, COD, CS GO. But because my job nature requires me to work from my pc computer/laptop long hours, I found myself staying away from computer whenever I am OFF from work. Therefore I no longer do any serious gaming on computer, even though my pc hardware easily can support the latest triple As games.

My wife is currently pregnant and I am planning to spend more time with her in the living room, instead of separate myself in my home office. The idea of getting a living room gaming console cross my mind recently. Even though I may be gaming, but being physically there by her side should be better than not being there. She will be playing with her phone & swiping insta/fb/game anyway. She will nag me, if I play pc game in my office room... online competitive game like CSGO can never be played with her around. She will constantly come and kacau me until I get killed and given up totally rclxub.gif .

When considering gaming console, the only thing that comes to my mind is PS4. I think because of the more serious type of games available. I believe I am a more "visual" kind of guy, and good graphic always catch my attention first. I really wish to play games like The Last of Us, and Red Dead Redemption with amazing graphic on my tv. But after few days of careful consideration, I realised maybe that is just what I Think I want. Maybe it is not such a good idea to be so focus on such serious game, even when I am with my wife in the living room. Maybe is not a good idea to play such gore, and violent games on a big living room tv, with a pregnant lady whistling.gif . She is quite timid when comes to theseΒ  sweat.gif

Yesterday my wife mentioning bout those classic super mario games, pacman (probably the only games she ever played), which she is quite fond of (which girls dont like cute characters?). She asked me if "is there any more super mario game nowadays?", which I explained to her Mario is a game/character that is Nintendo exclusive. That trigger something in me, reminding me of the latest console by Nintendo Switch released 2 years ago... with very interesting playing options. I went ahead to look for all the reviews of this console and try to understand as much as I can. I feel the concept is more family orientated (not sure bout it in actual execution)

Part of me wants to try PS4 (more serious gaming), but part of me feels Nintendo Switch could be a less "selfish" choice (more casual, wife can join and play occasionally, she may even enjoy watching all the cute graphic). I could be wrong, maybe I am at age stage where I couldnt be a serious gamer anymore.

I will to hear comments & advice if I should go for Nintendo, especially coming from people who have owned both the nintendo & ps4 or even pc. Will I be bored and regret with Nintendo limited games choices? I understand a good game doesnt necessary comes from the best graphic, but good graphic simply make people want to play the game in the first place these days. I feel games from Nintendo are those which you won't find it interesting, until you start playing it, and you are hooked. Good example like mobile CandyCrushΒ  sweat.gif , it doesn't attract me at all. I only start playing to try out why everyone is crazy about this game. Then I find myself spending long hours playing it. Maybe I find myself too old/lazy to learn new complicated games.. aiks.

What do you guys say? Should I join the Switch Community? unsure.gif
*
Trust me. Get a Switch. Your wife will love you more. Nowadays i am too lazy to play stressful realistic graphics game. My PS4 seldom turn on. PC totally abandoned, eventhough still powerful enough to play current games.

Besides, with kid coming, in 5 years time you will all be playing together.

Recommended games to play with wife(the more the merrier, get some friends and family to join as well).
Overcooked 1 or 2
Snipper Clips
Mario Party
Mario Kart 8
New Super Mario Deluxe

You can start with these, will last a long time already.

It feels assuring to hear that from someone in the similar situation 😁. How do you find? Correct decision to go for Switch?
πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ» Good to hear from someone who owns both PS4 n switch (& PC). I’m hoping to get back to appreciating good gameplay, and not just focusing on Graphic.

Btw, what are the games that will make use of the controller, like wii , playing tennis etc ? Something requiring more physical movement.. trying to justify myself from not turning into a couch potato after buying the Switch πŸ˜‚

I think Mario Party is a bit physical.

Others physical like ARMS and maybe Mario Tennis (i think, not sure about this one).

Noted on this. I need to research more. My last 2 TVs I bought was based on price and gambar cantik..beli impulses. No reseaech at all.
*
But i think it's really hard to find comprehensive test on input lags for TV reviews. Recently bought new TV, so far so good, just set to game mode, that's all. As long as turn off motion processing, i think it should be fine (my TV don't have motion processing, so no issue...lol).

I read it all. Word by word. LOL. I just got my Switch less than a week ago. I have been a Sony exclusive guy, owning all gens since original Playstation.

But I gotta say, I love it and quite enjoying the experience. My wife loves it coz Im not caved up in my room. Im outside just enjoying my game while she is watching TV or what not. However, I just started playing SSBU and no other games yet so I cant really give a better review and I do find the controls a bit awkward but thats due to I have been playing Sony controllers since 97. A positive note, my wife was shocked that I was actually playing a console game, mainly due to Im not shouting vulgar language at my screen. Lol. I mean SSBU is a fun time wasting game.

I also tried to get my wife to join me in SSBU, she looked at the game, then to me, then laughed and continued her TV drama. Guess she aint a gamer. Hahaha. But my kids doesnt like it much, as per my eldest girl, the pictures doesnt look nice and she is constanly asking why I dont play ugly dinosaur on my big TV (PS4 Monster Hunter World). Kids comparing SSBU to Monster Hunter World. Hahaha.
*
I have introduced my 10 years old back then to the Wii U, he loves Super Mario 3D world and we completed it together. Today he prefers the Switch over the PS4. Play weird games like Delta Rune...lol.

Anyway, i recommend you to get this PDP Smashbros Controller for SSBU, it really makes a difference. I have 2 of those. You can also get a Mayflash adapter, this will allows you to hook up to almost any controllers...from PS4 to XBox360 to Wii U etc. So you can use back some of your other controllers, including wired USB type. The PS4 controller is 100% compatible and even supports gyro.

PDP eh? I heard about this. Will check it out. But gotta say.. that Mayflash sounds extremely tempting.

Btw, whats this family plan I saw in the post earlier? Like PSN is it? I know that if I want to online, need to buy the top up card. Am I wrong?
*
Yes, believe me the Mayflash really worth getting, there is another 8bitdo, but this only support wireless. I have both. The 8bitdo actually has better built quality, but so far Mayflash works fine too, eventhough the built quality is a bit meh. But take note. Only 1 controller can be linked to either Mayflash or 8Bitdo at one time. Meaning, you can't link multiple controllers to 1 Mayflash/8bitdo. Even if you can, it will just controls the same player as a single controller.

And yes, like what Malakus said earlier, it's like PSN....except that it sucks with no free games ( unless you want to play ancient NES games...), no special discount, no nothing. In short, it sucks very bad. Only consolation is it's cheaper and sharing a Family Plan is pretty cheap. I also share Family plans with a bunch of strangers. LOL.

Is there any free games that comes with the Switch console? Are those classic NES games , Tetris 99 , fortnite free out from the box? or  I  need to subscribe for their yearly online pass or something? I just wish to have something to play with , before building up the proper game collection.
*
You need to subscribe to NSO to play those rubbish NES games, and Tetris 99 as well.

since we dont have our own eshop, which country do you find the cheapest for eshop games?

It depends.

AAA titles from Nintendo usually no discount and all expensive regardless where.

If you want cheaper indie titles, try Mexico and Russia. But be warned that AAA Nintendo titles are even more expensive than US in these eshops.

Hi Guys, just purchased my Nintendo Switch Finally.Β  I will like to link to online and try out the "free" nec classic game... but it says eshop is not available in my country. Do I need to select US? And will there be any issue with CC payment later on?
*
Yes. Set to US. No issue with CC. Nintendo wants your money.

You can create a few more accounts. Set one account to Mexico and Russia eshop each. Lots of indie games are cheaper there.
