so if we play on dock for hours then we want to straight continue undock we won't get full charge? considering joy cons mostly go for wireless..

Earlier, I read or Youtube somewhere that when playing docked, the graphics processor works harder hence taking much more longer to fully charge it as compared to undocked.

Received mine today ... looks legit, saw the hidden message ... not yet try link to Switch rclxm9.gif will try tonight

Yeah, it's a steal, I guess they priced wrongly. It was revised to RM292, and then to RM299 now from the same shop. icon_rolleyes.gif

never play zelda before , eg have no prior knowledge on the history of this franchise. will i understand the game/plot if i delve it straight into the latest zelda breath of the wind ?

I'm first timer as well, Zelda BOTW is easy learning curve, and the only reason I get Switch.
Bought the DLC pack also, not yet finish.

Now onto Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
I'm not that much into online team players, prefer single player mode. I like those open sandbox type of game.

Play 1-2-Switch with kids are fun.

Dropping by the switch thread for some biased opinion
Currently in a dilemma in whether to jump the gun and get myself one. So, I'm hoping to hear some feedback from you guys.

Which game made you guys went ahead and bought the device? After finishing the game, did you manage to find anything else interesting to play?

I own a PS4, so the main reason for me to get the Switch is the switch exclusive titles and portability. As of now, the only games that has my attention now is BotW, Pokken and maybe Stardew Valley. I don't think I'll enjoy 3D platform games like Super Mario Odyssey or Splatoon 2 (both are highly rated on the Switch). I'm just worried that once I have it and completed 1-2 games, the Switch will be collecting dust at a corner given that the functionality is pretty much limited to gaming. Please advise, thanks!!!
*
Here's my unbiased opinion, coming from PC games, to PS3 and now to Switch. I bought Switch in mid-March 2017 for only one reason: after watched Zelda: BoTW online gameplay and that was long before it was won multiple game of the year awards. Portability was never really in my mind.

I don't play a lot of games, just concentrate on a few that I really play and spend a lot of time. e.g. PS3 I bought due to GT5 then, GTA IV and V full series, infamous 1 & 2 and a few more games only. I spend time to collect trophies and try for 100% completion. Don't really have time for other newer games after that.

Switch I also have 3 main games only (as of now): 1-2 switch which I play with kids whenever around, BoTW, and now playing XC2. I'm not a Mario fan and have never really play Mario games at all in my life.

I'm more of a single-player offline sandbox gaming, hence games like Splatoon2 which requires online team playing are not my cup of tea.

So, if you are looking for high-end graphics, continue with your PS4 or high-end PC gaming.
If you are looking for good gameplay, all platforms have their few top games. Hence, it depends on what games you want to play, as in my case, BoTW.
Switch overall graphics are behind PS4 (generally speaking), you have to accept Switch as is basis.

Next game ? I don't know, I'm waiting for Season of Heaven if it will ever release. Or maybe collect dust if I have other better things in life.

Just my 2 sen Friday night rambling ...

Guys I just finish my Zelda:BOTW. Wanna get the DLC now, my Zelda is Japan version, does that means I need to login to JP account and buy the DLC from there?
*
No region lock for Nintendo Switch games. My BoTW is English version and I bought DLC from JP.
i.e. you can buy from any store, whichever is cheaper.

QUOTE(killerizm @ Mar 5 2019, 02:27 PM)
Hi, I need some advice from a Zelda fan who has played most of the series installments. I wanna know if BotW is a game for me.

I've never played a single Zelda game growing up (sad childhood). Recently I thought I'd try getting into the series starting with Ocarina of Time 3D. Not a fan of the previous 2D top down installments. Going into half of OoT (maybe half? After grown up Link.), I'm starting to get bored of its repetitive and almost similar dungeon format concept of "enter dungeon> solve puzzles> get key/map> kill boss> get gem/medallion". The main quests involving main dungeons felt generally similar in pattern to me and felt more restrictive compared to side quests in open world that spans throughout multiple areas. I do however enjoy some of the side quests and minigames such as the gold skulltulas, fishing, getting horse, and the mask shop quest.

So in terms of the dungeon system, how similar is BotW to OoT or to any other previous Zelda installments? Is there more freedom and diversity for the player to solve puzzles, taking on enemies and bosses? Is BotW for me?

Not sure if I should ask this here or on the BotW thread but since here more active I'll try asking here first. Thanks in advance for any sort of advice.  notworthy.gif

Same here, not sad childhood, just very low income family. Never own a gaming console until come out to work age 20+ only bought first gaming console PS3 and start with GT5, etc. Two years ago when Switch was launched, I bought my first ever Nintendo that comes with BoTW. Reason I saw some YouTube on BoTW, breath-taking sandbox world, looks interesting gameplay and I bought the package. I've never play or own or known who is Link or Zelda or whatever.

BoTW is an open sandbox game which I'm familiar from PS3 days of Infamous 1 & 2, GTA 4 & 5, etc. My suggestion, just jump straight and start with BoTW. The starting guide and figuring out the initial 4x jump-points (sorry, forgot what that rune? is called) are more than enough. Of course, without the history, I missed out on many other things. But I just concentrate on the gameplay, exploring the open world and finish it. From my perspective, it's a fun game to play.

Same with Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I think there is some history but I don't know any. Busy with work. Just play the game only, buy the extension pass but not yet finish (half way). Open sandbox game also. Now my switch + pro controller lying around gathering dust only play with it sometimes.

Funnily I've no interest in Mario or Splatoon though. Probably because I'm not exposed to it since the earlier part of my life.

Open sandbox game to me is where I can run around anywhere I want, without following the game play or main missions, etc.

So let's say I buy game A on US account, and game B on JP account...
When I turn on the switch console, if I login to US account, I can't play game B? Need to relogin to JP account instead?
*
There is no region lock within the same Switch console. Both games can play in both account. Including DLC purchase with US/JP/etc, works on both account. However it means you will have two separate save game files with different progress.

What I do is, which ever account I purchase from, I always start the game in one of my main account (e.g. US), not necessary the account I purchase from.

Hey guys... Would it be worth buying a Switch just to play only one game...?

I just wanna play Mario U Deluxe... all other games don't really pique my interest...
*
I did so 3 years back when BoTW was released. I've no background on Zelda or any other Nintendo games or own any Nintendo consoles before.

Saw BoTW pre release review / play-through and got hooked to it cause I like open world sandbox games.

Until today, I've bought DLCs for it and Hyrule Warrior: Age of Calamity
Other than that I have XC2 only. One hand can count all the games I have after <3 years.

Sifu,
If we buy the used console from others, could it be possible to be banned by Nintendo? how could we check that?

Caused I doubt why most used unit sellers sell within a month, and never see the same happen to PS5
*
Penny wise, pound foolish.

As mention above, even if it is working fine now, you'll never know if the previous user has breach any Nintendo T&C or not. Maybe get banned 1 month later ? or 3 months ? or never at all ?

That's the risk to take to save a hundred RM or two. Even buy from close friends or relatives. You'll never know.

My advise: Just buy new from trusted sources for Nintendo Switch. This one really not play-play like other devices or mobile phones where there are patches/bootrom/workaround or partial ban on certain things only or even can pay to lift out from ban. No such thing for Nintendo Switch. Better not take risk.
