Haha i got 2009 honda city with milelage 140k today...will it be suitable as uber car???considering 2 do full time after 10 years working under somebody and better be own boss laugh.gif laugh.gif

Car is suitable. In fact the banglas / my friend will silently thank you for a better car than Myvi, lol.

Just make sure the car is in tip top condition as you are gonna travel 200-300km a day (depends) on a full time.
My advice is have the engine and battery (yes, battery, cause you don't want it to konk in the middle of the petrol station or somewhere far away) well inspected.

Make sure you also have the most powerful car charger (and good charging cable) inside your car too.

I think 2009 car should be acceptable by Grab.

Erm..wait.. Are you signing up for Uber or Grab?
Cause uber is less fussy about older cars. In fact if you sign up online for Uber, they just need your driving licence, jpj geran, ic and insurance cover note. I havent heard about them requiring drivers to send car for inspection

Grab on the other hand, is abit more fussy about older cars. In fact they just wanna make sure your car is road worthy. Not a matter of engine oil havent changed biggrin.gif

On the other hand, make sure the car itself has a thorough inspection by Honda. Engine oil...atf fluid..change..hehe.
If i were you i make sure my engine oil change to fully synthetic biggrin.gif

My budget is around 20K and it would be difficult to find one at that price since the secondary market is very new.
Anyone using an Axia and would like to comment? Turn down any trip due to luggage could not fit into the car?

Are you using Axia auto or manual?
Thanks.

QUOTE(SleeplessEyes @ May 21 2017, 10:48 PM)
Thanks Effy92 for your compliments. Was trying to prove that a little car like Axia can be a Goliath even.

To leftback, let me tell you something. If you are doing Grab long enough, you will feel that boot space , yes, is an importance, but not top priority. You are unlikely to get Klia trips every single day (if you do, i salute you).

Im doing grab full time btw. I was in your shoes when deciding either a Saga, or Bezza 1.0l. But finally i settled down with Axia. Never regretted.

The Axia is a perfect choice for Grab operations. What more with the bare bone E spec. Even i myself dont recommend myvi.
Super fuel efficient yet sufficient boot space for any KLIA trips. Forget myvi. The boot space is a joke. With or without the shelf.
1 full tank, 25-26litres of fuel, based on manual tranny (im using e spec) can get 410-420km, mixed driving.
(Its like they say : Real men uses 3 pedals, lol)

That work outs like 17.x km per litre. You cant get that on a Myvi what more the guzzling auto version. Maybe the manual version can come close. But axia still wins fc.

I wont quote how many cents per km or how much per full tank cause you know la, our crazy govt. changes prices every week.

I think Proton is also equally reliable; just take a look at how many taxis are Proton (yes i know its compulsory for them). Yes i understand Cvt reliability will be a concern, but i can tell you, i have 2 other cvt-based cars in my family, with the Honda having 100k plus mileage, is still running well.

So the choice is yours, either the saga or the Axia. Forget the myvi. But as for me, I'm loving my Axia. Not because i anti Proton.

My company used to buy new cars and put on the fleet to run on Uber and Grab and having over 4 years experiences doing this business, as much as we all love the new cars (warranty especially), I recommend you and all my friends here who want to get into the ride-sharing business to buy a used car, say 3 to 5 years used car. They depreciated enough and while are not brand new, these older cars are easily 50% cheaper compared to a new car return of investment is much faster.

Buy a car that you can pay off in 12 months to 18 months while working on Uber or Grab. Anything that requires more time to pay off is a risky investment.

Hi there.
My axia comes in manual only because mine is the lowest and cheapest spec of Axia. Only comes with 3 pedals. Not 2. Hehe.

But i dont mind.

Good tip. I have been surveying for a 2016/15 Alza and it's already RM15k to 20k lower than a brand new.

I was wondering about Ssangyong Stavic. Anyone can give input for this car can it's maintenance as well as cost of maintenance. It's damn cheap for a 2.7 MPV. The 2011 model is going for less than RM 40k.

Indeed. Alza is good option for Uber XL and GC (6-seater).

However, while on a daily basis you won't get many trips from XL but if u do, u definitely make a bit more.

Question is... the 70% - 80% trips done are from UberX and GrabShare... so your higher fuel consumption from Alza (as compared to Axia, Myvi, Bezza) will definitely give u a slight disadvantage.

Stavic is diesel with good mileage but the problem is the newness of said vehicle. With that amount of money, I would rather go for a newed 2014-15 Perodua.

How are you spending more fuel for GrabShare?
You actually reduce in fuel because it's 2 trips on one route.
But I don't count on individual ride P&L. I look at overall weekly earnings + incentives less all related cost while working.

60 months contract - rm200 per week

haha, help grabcar to buy their own cars

good thing is can take any customers, no worried of odor, dirty the car interior

no worried of road pothole, juz drive regardless how absorber turn into

for own car, really advise to wrap seat with pvc/pu seat cover, don go with original fabric seat, juz like taxi driver doing straight wrap their seat after getting new car. private car owner on the other hand straight going tinting windows film for first thing.

Would it void the car maintenance warranty if used as grab or uber?
