Hi Guys,

I am looking for new tire, went to the tyre shop and they recommended the new continental ultracontact 6, the thread looks beautiful. The sales person claims that this new tyre is excellent in both wet and dry road condition, grip is good, and very quiet but no mention about handling i am afraid it will be too soft.

my tyre size is 225/55/R17, mitsubishi ASX. They quote me RM428/pcs, is the price ok?

So all sifu-sifu here, anyone of you have ever tried this tyre? how is the performance? wet/dry grip, handling and noise level ok or not?

also, anyone can share what is the threadwear of this tyre?

I am currently using Toyo T1sport, but the performance was so-so only did not suprise me in anyway. Not very quiet or comfort and not very sporty. Previous used bridgestone re002 and gr100, t1sport's performance is somewhere in between these 2 model but the price is way above them.

UC6 is the 2nd lowest performance level tire from Continental, just above their lowest/basic model the CC6. So forget about performance if you choose this tire, it's not meant for that! At best the performance should maybe only match the BS GR100 that you've used before, nowhere near the RE002 or the T1 Sport. If you want performance from Continental then must choose Conti Sport Contact 5 (CSC5) and that is a damn fantastic tire, surely better than T1 Sport or even the newer RE003, but also expensive. I'm using that one now and no regret whatsoever, the best tire I've ever used. (Note I'm not a Continental employee ya, or tied in whatsoever form of Continental business).

CPC series is mid performance level, below CSC series, but should be pretty decent if there's no CSC series available for your size or you just cannot afford CSC series but CPC2 is old already. CPC5 is already listed in the Malaysia website so I think should be available. What size do you need?

In this country, an honest salesperson who recommends product based on concrete facts is very hard to find.

woah, thanks for the info thats what i am looking for.

maybe i should give the UR6 a try since GR100 works totally fine for me.

what i doesn't like about the GR100 was only the threadware, the tayar became totally botak when i reach 40k km so is the T1S that i am currently using, 40k km outer layer all botak, easily get empty spin now.

any idea what is the threadware of UR6?

or any other similar price range RM400+ tire for my size that come with not so lousy performance? rclxm9.gif

You mean UC6. laugh.gif I think should easily last more than 40k km in normal driving unless something wrong with your alignment or your tire pressure. Not sure what is the tread wear rating though coz I never really pay much attention to this tire but my guess is around mid 300 (coz CC6 is about 360 while the MC5 is 340, then above that already 280).

Other choices, I'd recommend probably the new Yokohama Advan Fleva v701 as suggested by leehernadez. This is already UHP category tire similar to the T1S but much cheaper.
Another similar choice is the Goodyear F1D5 but not sure of the price now. I used this tire over 4 yrs ago before changing to my current CSC5, and it's pretty good grip in the dry and wet so a well balanced tire but maybe a bit higher noise and chipping if driven hard (I chipped mine until can see the steel belt a little!). Not as good as the CSC5 but still pretty good tire, almost similar like Michelin PS3.
Then maybe can try ask for Hankook V12 Evo 2 if it has that size, not sure. If it has then the price should also be rather cheap, even cheaper than the 2 above.
