Anyone here using the new windowblinds 5.5? Does it have conflicts with Maya?

ARe you using windowblinds? to be honest, in order for VTP 6 to work fully, u need windowblinds 5 enchanced at least.

Eh, once installed it didn't change your Icons already meh?

You need to get the end user version. Not the developers one.

But the kol skin is still available. Download the Vista Ultimate by Planet-something.... a lot of Deviants claim that he stole the exact skin from kol.

I would say it takes about 10~15% more requirements. But thats just it. The sidebar is the one that takes the most requirements actually. The more gadgets u have, even more memory it takes.

Windowblinds they say it doesnt take much memory at all because the engine is based entirely from Windows itself. It is not an external graphic engine, it basically works just like visual styles.

However....... VTP 6 is the culprit. The codes that Window X has written somehow consumes memory. To go around this, check out the FAQ section for an alternative that doesn't take memory. Using Vista Icon Pack 3.0 & Vista XP Pack, I have everything offered in VTP 6 already.... excluding the Aero Glass effect of course which requires WindowBlinds. To play safe, you can just use visual style..

Those who are NOT using WindowBlinds like me for example, the Start Menu Orb is a bit funny looking right? Either its too small or its cut half way on the top of the orb right? So I have a solution for it.

Ultimate Start Buttons Updated by ~blajano

All you have to do is:
1) Run the .exe file
2) Right click on the orb to go Properties
3) Set 'Z-order' to be "Always on Top" and Accessibility to "Systray" or whichever you are comfortable.
4) Click Ok and it will close the app.
5) Start the application again and drag it over your current Start Menu Orb. For some special reason, it will 'snap' to the right position so you don't need to worry about it. Also, it takes very very little memory... 3k mem around there. Thats less than 4mb of ram
6) If you don't wanna see it in your system try, just set Accessibility to "None" because you can always right click to set the preferance.

For me it all works perfectly. Vista clock works normal... slide pictures work well only when dragged to the desktop. In the sidebar, it just takes a small portion of the pictures..

I noticed some people had difficulties in installing the sidebar too. But what I posted on the 1st page was exactly what I did. In fact I have reformatted my pc 3 times and all 3 times i just install in that sequence that I did and it worked. But in any case, if anyone has problems, try asking here we'll try to help as much as we can.

Its the same with Windows Vista. When u show desktop, it minimizes the sidebar as well.

There is no best..... if you want a suggestion, try reading post #6 at the FAQ section. I have my selection there. But of course, it is not 'that' accurate to Vista. Its more to my liking. Bug free and pleasant to the eyes

1. VTP is just an all-in-one installer that runs several 3rd party apps. The problem with these apps is that it has lotsa bugs. Why? Because they are small in size as the creator of VTP 6.0 wanted the installer to be small.

2. When I used VTP 6, I just used the Icons, Wallpaper, Sounds, Pointers, Visual Tooltip...

3. The difference? Hmmm, why don't you get both and see the difference for yourself (after you install WindowBlinds 5 of course)

5. Yea correct, the Vishal-Gupta one is for those without WindowBlinds. Btw, I am not using WindowBlinds at the moment. This Windowblinds have bugs with my applications such as Goldwave and Maya. I dunno about version 5.5 though, they might have already fixed it but I'd rather not try.

6. Start Menu emulator works. The problem is, it always disappear into the background. You will get what I mean after u try running it. Don't worry, it doesnt need to install so you can just try it out without screwing up ur OS.


To be honest, Vista Icon Pack and XP Vista Pack contain ORIGINAL elements extracted directly from Vista.
1) Vista Icon Pack - Icons
2) XP Vista Pack - Wallpaper, Cursor & Sound.

Vista Boot XP by ~ssombret007 is also exactly how Vista looks like.

and............ hey Windows Vista Ultimate Logon by =ears1991 is also exactly like how Vista looks like. I guess we have a perfect match here!

Of course manually one by one is the more real one. VTP is not that accurate to Vista.

Then what you need is the Vista Icon Pack Developer's Kit. It's an .exe which will extract the icon files and not patch anything.

Actually to be frank with you, there are a lot of things missing to look 'exactly' like Vista. But if you're satisfied with just the desktop look, then it is very complete already.

Btw, I believe there is no 100% exactly like Vista windowblinds skin...

Why? Because Microsoft will ask them to remove it or sue whoever does that since the look of Vista is copyrighted.

On the bright side, I know some of you already might have known this, but those without WIndowBlinds 5, there is a very accurate ms style other than Vishall Gupta's one...
