hai luo restaurant? sorry i duno where that is.
well, try goin to their management and ask if theyre interested in any bands. then pass them your demo and a simple profile of your band and ur contacts. then if theyre interested theyll usually arrange an audition first before u could get the job. |

hey mate .
you are referring to "Halo cafe" is it ? don't think you want to work there.. i heard they pay you peanuts like...RM25-RM30 a night ... and that is my friend's salary who has been working there for 3 years.. Newcomer? probably RM15 a night.. anyway..Bandar Sungai Long just open a new HALO CAFE..they may be hiring , you can give it a try |

gapnap, thx for info. Actually we're choosing sg.long punya halo cafe, they told us to ask their person in charge at South city plaza. Salary isn't the problem, just we're going to take some exp. The biggest hing is we're not rock bands or else, just musicians, maybe try to play some pop songs by instrument... wonder they r interested???

ha.ha...anyway i can write an essay about how you are spoiling the musician market by playing for free or getting peanuts pay and "just for the experience" ..nvm that..
Experience on the stage , you will have it . but popularity , you won't . I am staying there pal , i can say that nobody goes there..its so damn overpriced for Bandar Sungai Long.like RM8 for a glass of coke or something like that so abit potong-steam lar playing alone with the waiters.. anyway , would love to meet up with you if you are performing , we can have a drink . just PM me if you start and about whether will they be interested. As long as you don't sing off pitch , able to handle requested songs by the customers and there is a vacancy . shouldn't be a problem . you don't need to be a celebrity to get the job This post has been edited by gapnap: Mar 11 2007, 01:28 AM |

We can't prepare all songs in this world rite... hi again . i think one of the hardest challenge for a band is to stay together as a band for years . since you are still in a high school, my advice is not to start at Hai Lo . Try performing at high school shows ALOT.. get a large fan base . you will realized that your fans plays an important row in keeping you all together example , look at Media puppets . They were married to guns since form 3 ?til now to answer your question , i suggest going to other Hai Lo for a month maybe.Observe the trend , see what songs customer always request . you should be able to figure how from there then . Especially Damansara utama / taman tun , lots of people are into bands.i am guessing you are from a high school that have alot of chinese speaking students ? then yea , trying to form a fan base in that crowd wouldn't be a good idea . Their mentality is like..they don't hear old songs at all, they just hear whats new in the market type ? |

look at my signature ... hahaha ... i think i can help geh..
i work at this field for about 2 - 3 years ... hai lo absolutely not a good place if you are new... currently i think they having bombing at each other right now ... look here http://chinese.cari.com.my/myforum/viewthr...e%3D1&page=128# i dunno whether it's real or what but it's quite 'luan sui' there... Ok .. my guide here: -------------------------------------------------------- 1. From previous post, I see you really beginner for this job. Music Cafe like halo or other needs UNPLUGGED SINGER not BAND. You place 2 piece where 1 intrument + vocal and 1 Vocal 2. Don't expect you can get high salary if you new because singing in cafe is totally different from singing in band and karaoke. RM30 is damn low la... 3. Salary out there majority is about RM60 - RM90. This apply only for majority not all. Some cafe still remain RM50 - RM60. Except halo special case. 4. Try to sing whenever you have your chance. I tell you what ... if you really want to interested to sing ... you need to appreciate every minute you on stage. 5. Before go up to stage, make sure both of u have more than 40 songs for each person. Don't choose the same song la walao ... later both also 40 same songs then mati kao kao that night. 6. Don't show lanci face to you senior because your name will easily busuk as this field is very small in KL. 7. While on stage ... open ur ear and eye wide wide. Look and listen what happen especially humming. Beginner always can't handle feedback. 8. REMEMBER NEVER PLUG OR UNPLUG UR INSTRUMENT WHILE THE TRACK IS ON. YOU WILL BLOW THE MONITOR. 9. Communication is the secret recipe. Singing is not really important but don't sing like william hung la. 10. Make sure you don't make joke if you can't make joke. You will look dumb. 11. Control your mic well. Hold your mic in original way. Don't hold like LMF style. very digusting. 12. Make sure your instrument have pickup (especially guitar). Don't ever think of using a mic for external pickup. It looks so stupid. 13. Don't over do everything because everyone know you are new. 14. Don't wear like you are jay chow. Normal T-Shirt should be fine. Make sure it is ironed la... don't wear a sayur masin out. 15. Don't shake ur leg while sing 16. Don't wear slippers or sandals. Your toe doesn't look nice. 17. Don't blame anything if you out of pitch. It is ur problem. 18. Remember to open FX or effect or reverb or anything related to it because you will die at the end if this doesn't turn on. 19. Make sure your look can go up stage. Don't look like "Ba Liang Jin". No body will come to the cafe. You are the representative of the cafe you know? 20. Don't ever dream to be a true artist by singing in cafe. Artist is other thing than singing in cafe. Artist need more than these advice. 21. Don't ever promise your audience everything because you will forget after this. 22. Take care and this word is important "Zap Sang!!!" -------------------------------- ok end of my guide ... hope you can successful la hahaha Added on March 20, 2007, 11:02 amanyway ... additional here.
