On April 15 at 2:30PM ET/11:30AM PT at Star Wars Celebration, we’ll be presenting during the “The Galaxywide Premiere of Star Wars Battlefront II” panel.
To break the good news about content updates, DICE drafted Janina Gavankar, who plays the protagonist of Battlefront II’s singleplayer campaign.
“The team at DICE heard our feedback loud and clear on the previous Battlefront, and are committed to keeping this community together with themed seasons of content post-launch for all players at no additional charge,” she said.
The first free update will arrive this holiday season, adding bits including Finn and Captain Phasma as playable characters.
“The first season, inspired by Star Wars: The Last Jedi, is only the beginning of the additional content coming to this game,” Gavankar continued. “All post-launch heroes, maps, weapons, and vehicles will be free for everyone who owns Star Wars Battlefront II.”

anyone having slow download speeds for the open beta? on unifi 50mbps
still getting 5mbps on download with starhub. how's slow is your slow? anyway, origin download is always slower than steam dl for me by 9x times roughly.
Game just felt like COD/BF for me.. the first one didn't felt like that much.. I guess they just use the same stuff and just reskin lol... also i don't think i'll fall for the trick again.. triple the content they said.. i bet it's not worth the 60usd price.
Matchmaking is a serious issue.. slow and took forever.. dead game before it even launched? that's what some are saying lol

hmmm...i'm getting games quite fast. less than 30 sec in any of the game mode. well, not going to get it unless they gave me the star wars that is all about the FORCE!!
Last time i bought battlefront pc version while can search for players but it takes really long,i surprised theres more players on ps4 than pc version for a fps game, but not sure this time though because im not gonna buy this one sadly, because i like the graphics(very realistic-ish) and the sound of the game.

Weird then.. wonder why. Maybe i played it too early? it was definitely right after it goes live. Also ping no issue either and my internet also 30mbps.
For some reason this new one somehow did 't appeal to me compared to the first one EA made. Maybe I just hate EA more now cuz of how they handled Mass Effect lol. Or maybe I just rather not fall for the same trick again. It felt like game wise the content is still lacking.. Looks barebone to me like the first game. Altho they claimed it will have 3x more content.. just didn't think it's worth 60usd

This is true. 100% sure the console version will have more players by 5x more or 10 fold at launch. I'm also sad regarding that when buying on PC knowing that it takes very long on the first game..

one thing i hate playing fps using pc is because of the cheaters. It spoils the game entirely. If i can use keyboard and mouse on consoles i definitely play using consoles, hack proof.

maybe hack proof. but definitely not hardware hacking proof. try lag switching (both PC & console have it) or rapid fire mods.
the real problem is EA (and to some extent, Activillian's COD series) doesn't use a good enough anticheat tool. Unlike Blizzard, Valve (VAC) and even Ubisoft (battle eye).

Err it's only beta and there's only 3 maps to play compared to 11 maps for galactic conquests and 5 starfighter assault maps for the launch version. The only slow matchmaking i encountered was for starfighter assault and sometimes strike map, and level cap is 10 for beta.I guess ppl stopped playing after they reached it.

yeah the fact that character progression is locked behind loot crates is going backwards. that is why we told our whole community to not buy the game.
i'm ok with the loot crates for cosmetics but EA taking stuff too far and it effect gameplay progression with must have loot crate ? totally BS unplayable game ever and multiplayer scheme pay to win like all mobile free game and worst they charging full 60 bucks. I never support such BS marketing scheme. I'm worry that Anthem will get this treatment too specially random drop item.

- There are many things you can earn in the game, including weapons, attachments, credits, Star Cards, Emotes, Outfits and Victory Poses. - As a balance goal, we’re working towards having the most powerful items in the game only earnable via in-game achievements. - Crates will include a mix of of Star Cards, Outfits, Emotes or Victory Poses. - Players earn crates by completing challenges and other gameplay milestones, or by purchasing them with in-game credits or Crystals, our premium currency. - If you get a duplicate Star Card in a crate, you will get crafting parts which you can then use to help upgrade the Star Card of your choice. - And lastly, you have to earn the right to be able to upgrade Star Cards and unlock most Weapons. You can only upgrade or unlock them if you have reached a high enough rank, which is determined by playing the game.
on tmnut streamyx 8mb...no unfi bcos my plc suck...
pls help..realy thinking to preorder..
Your spec should be ok to play, about streamyx i not sure.
Personally try on the beta previously. my pc is i7-2700k , GTX970 and 12GB ram. having no issue and very smooth frame rate when playing. same thinking to preorder it.
And the list goes on and on and on. Am so thankful that myself and community didn't jump on this crud. Enough is enough EA. First Battlefront 1, then Battlefield 1, and then MEA, then killing off Visceral and studio behind MEA. And maybe even Respawn now. Definitely voting with our wallets this time.
edit3: hahaha the sub reddit is just going strong.
Reddit is already boycotting the game due to the stupid gambling bullshit they implemented. If you support this game then later get ready for more EA titles to start shipping out gambling crates. Do not support or buy this game. Stupid developer and publisher think they can do whatever they want. Already charging for Expansion DLC and now gambling crates. Soon you wait and see they will sell play time. Top up to gain more play time. Keep getting greedier and greedier.
boycott of EA (not star wars) is in full swing. Don't get me wrong. I like Star Wars alot. Saw all the original trilogy in the theaters (and watched the X'mas special, we shall not talk about that further), but EA is really messing up the genre and gaming overall.
I cannot stop you from buying this game, it is still your choice and your hard earned money, but we've all heard folks talk about taking a stand, won't happen while we continue to buy from EA etc, well I say now's the time to take that stand and send EA a message that the rest of the world is also doing.
Plus I understand NFS Payback is also facing issues with paid DLC or some such.
Already our mini-community have 20+ who committed to not buy the game, just last night some I know cancelled the PC version (took them awhile).

EA seems take a step backwards. this morning they reduce the hero cost by 75% after the reddit rage.
Battlefront 2 is a great and fun game. lootcrate replace of DLC for money earning has draw a big backslash to player. if ppl were not thinking that much and just want to enjoy the game its a good game, else just ignore this game.
personally still on the fench of buying or not as the gameplay is really good and fun. been testing it in beta and the early access 10 hours. but will this game last or not it cant be sure as SEA community always smaller for multiplayer game. also scare of EA....
Anyone got some comment sharing?
If got time have a look for this video, nice talk there i think

I wholeheartedly urge you not to get the game, please. I thought it would not get worse than the Battlefield series but i'm wrong.
And i quote someone from reddit, "Basically said that EA would put their "worst" foot out to see what the reaction would be, then they make it "player acceptable" later on, that way people would think they are actually listening to player feedback."
Gamespot purchases $100 worth of loot crates, ends up with less than half the amount of credits needed to unlock Darth Vader and Luke. 40 hours or $260 to unlock one of the main characters in Star Wars. https://www.gamespot.com/articles/star-wars...r/1100-6454825/

Sickening cash grab game. Was actually looking forward to it. EA sigh why so greedy. You see CSGO model and thought hey let's get the gambling feature in this game. Well playerbase in SEA already small now with this drama GG SEA playerbase. No point even trying to play this soon to be dead game.
Plan to refund the game and wheres the link to refund this game? I buy the game with PayPal, if refund where is the money go to? Bank or Paypal? anyone with experience refunding origin game can share?
My own capture from Metacritic PS4 version. See the user score.

Improved aim assist???!!! Why? (Granted it is only for the space ships and not characters or heroes, but still....)
Article back in June promising now P2W mechanics. Promises that EA and Disney broke. https://www.gamespot.com/articles/e3-2017-s...t/1100-6450730/ "No, it's not about buying the winning item," he said. "That's not how it works. No one can say, 'I'm going to spend my zillion dollars and then I'm going to dominate.' That's not how it works."
This BF2 fiasco has even make Activision to delay the WW2 micro-transaction as well. I guess they will fear this will make them fall into gambling category in which it really is.
its great that all the gamer come together to say NO to these kind of money-grabber.
Seems gamer win the war this time. EA remove microtransaction? NA. just temporary.
don't believe EA. they just using psychological manipulation to distract the players.
https://twitter.com/EAStarWars/status/931332890717143040 EA will bring microtransactions back later. May have won this battle, but the war rages on! Shall continue to fight EA. Anyway as usual SEA players given high ping servers and no proper anti-cheat mechanism. Others can decide what to do since it is their wallet but still no buy for about 20+ of us.
Don't trust this company. Goddamn "Later Date" BS. Thank god FORTNITE is so enjoyable. Not even 1 week and the viewership for BF2 has dropped so much on Twitch.
how this game match making work? does they have sea server? i am about to buy it, but this news.......
i personally do not have the game, maybe someone who has it can correct me.
historically Battlefield 1 is now HK and Japan servers. SW Battlefront 1, I not sure about local servers, but when i jumped late to the party (nearly a year after launch), I was playing on US servers.

previously BF4 have SG server, now left HK and JP server?? and play in US server the ping time will be 120ms+ ?
"None of this is to suggest in-game micro-transactions will lose their place as each publisher’s breadwinner. It does suggest, however, that all interested parties would be wise to not push their luck any further as players start to push back." https://investorplace.com/2017/11/electroni...try-key-lesson/
Everybody in the gaming industry is watching the #StarWarsBattlefrontII drama unfold. The future is clear: no outrage and memes will matter if they're followed by tens/hundreds of millions earned by EA on in-game purchases. Your wallet has way louder voice than you.

and it was true. the amount of credits u earned during multiplayer does not take into account how well you performed in a match. (confirmed via friends who gotten the game and are very remorseful, even I did not believe the reports until they told me)
well done EA and Disney. well done. lol

The game is notoriously stingy about letting you play with the people you want, and as the characters you most desire. But giving EA your credit card number has never been easier. In that sense, Battlefront II is actually a rather fitting sequel to its immediate predecessor, which was itself a fun, visually phenomenal but woefully shallow and convoluted experience. Everything that was right with the original game is exactly as it was before. Everything that wasn't, however, has mutated into something more craven and significantly uglier.

there is no way to view your ping in-game.
Edit: Their server is probably located at Japan/HK as mentioned. For the sake of comparison, I'm getting around 80-170 ping on Battlefield 1 (80-120 most of the time)

I personally try the game in beta and with the 10 hours early access trial. Also having a friend still playing this game.
For servers it is having SG server, this can be check when go to option > EA account and server can show there. The SG server show for me is 15ms. Next nearest is Hong Kong server which is 56ms. The game current state, according to my friend it is having no issue to finding game.
Personally like the game pew pew and sound, I didnt buy as the EA issue make me scare lack of player for us after the game launch for not long. Gameplay nice for the game, progression is RNG and no news about the changes detail has come in yet. Its your choice to buy or not but take note the pay for box will COME BACK
SAY no to EA, destroy the game i wait for so long.....

i wonder what is their player base count during launch after this fiasco
I bought it and i'm too lazy to refund. Actually, i have tonnes of fun playing the multiplayer lol (of coz looking past all the micro transactions fiasco). Some people will overpower you in the beginning but you will catch up eventually. The game play doesn't feel like 15ms to me though.

Same, still waiting for the stats to come out. Should be impact alot. Seems all people that post in this thread didnt buy, already reduce alot ppl
Surprisingly there are a lot of people playing the galactic assault (40 players). Match-making is almost instant tbh.
lol, actually very interest in this game after watch those live stream but wait black friday sales, maybe ada 10~15% sales, its few more day left sales sikit i pun cukur sudah

You can get it on GMG with 12% at RM260.94. If you are a new customer, you can apply the voucher "NEW15" at checkout to get another 15% discount on top of that. So, in total you just have to pay around RM220. (you can always register a new account if you're already an existing customer).
But ask yourself before making the decision. Do you play multiplayer on a regular basis? Yes? Go ahead and buy. Note: The campaign is lame and boring. Do you hate EA? Yes? Then go spend on something else.

Star Wars Battlefront 2’s Starfighter Assault is outstanding, but cards are killing the fun https://www.polygon.com/2017/11/20/16679618...ard-unlocks-fun "There are three classes of starfighters in the game: fighter, interceptor and bomber. Each of those three classes has three card slots, each of which can be filled with unique power-ups available through the game’s Star Cards.
But, when you start the game, only one of those card slots is open. In order to unlock the additional two slots you have to increase the level of your Star Cards. Not the level of your main account, mind you, but the level of the random cards you get from the game’s loot crates.
You’ve got two options for leveling your Star Cards: either buy more loot crates or craft higher level cards. But you can’t craft higher level cards until you reach level 10 on your main profile!"

Something related to mictotransactions. When I read this article, I literally facepalm. Apparently, some devs are supporting the idea of loot boxes being included in games as another "fun factor" and indirectly criticizing us for straight-up ridiculing the idea of loot boxes being a gambling issue. People are really becoming more and more greedy nowadays. They should all just shift to the mobile market and not saturate the console/pc market with their greedy monetization game models

Money talks no matter how much we want to deny it.
They see mobile industry earning so much $$ yet the resources use to make it is much much lesser than their AAA production cost.
If you havent notice the recent G star 2017 all pc gaming mmo all convert into Mobile lots of them.
It is not surprising that they want to be a part of the microtransaction pie for pc/console gaming.
Now what they need to do is normalize it and eventually future player will just accept it.
Spend 4,000 on Trooper Crate, Get 600 back from duplicates. Thanks for nothing EA.
Analyst who said "Gamers are overreacting to EA" and that games are too cheap is an investor analyst for EA and Comcast. https://imgur.com/gallery/VpdEe
It all start from a reddit user asked during ama session why need grind 40 hours just to unlock one hallmark character, and then chaos ensue
its the answer that came afterwards unleash the hell. kinda a noob answer.....like AM buy meka.....
I think Belgium need to divide 2 kind of loot crates - Cosmetic and Game Advantages (P2W). else, no more games will have loot crates for EU region. tbh, alot of games is gambling by nature if goes by Belgium definition - especially those mobile games

I have no issues playing via mobile tethering - Digi. Game play is okay without any delay. However, the loading time is so freaking longgggg and i had it installed in my SSD. In the end, i switched back to my normal HDD because it didn't speedup the loading time.
But just to note, the game is not really new-player-friendly. Although they removed the micro-transaction in-game but the pay-to-win element is still there. For example, Origin is selling 2 editions of BF2, standard and Elite Trooper Deluxe. And i own the Deluxe Edition. It literally unlocks a second tier weapon and a legendary star cards for all 4 classes plus some random stuff.
So, if i were to put against an equally skilled player with a standard edition, i would've easily beaten him because of my competitive edge (I paid more LOL).

good work everyone, keep it up! the war continues on multiple fronts!
QUOTE
Sales of Star Wars Battlefront 2 fell short of Electronic Arts’ expectations, and the publisher is citing the furor over the game’s microtransactions as the primary explanation, reports the Wall Street Journal.
EA sold about 9 million copies of Battlefront 2 during the three-month period from October-December 2017, the third quarter of EA’s 2018 fiscal year. (The game launched almost exactly halfway through the quarter, on Nov. 17, 2017.) That was about 1 million fewer than the 10 million copies that EA had expected to sell.
Blake Jorgensen, the company’s chief financial officer, told the Wall Street Journal that the publisher’s guidance calls for sales of another 1 million to 3 million copies by the fiscal year’s conclusion at the end of March. The higher end of that estimate would still put Battlefront 2 behind its predecessor — EA shipped more than 14 million units of the original Star Wars Battlefront in its 2016 fiscal year.
Revenue from Battlefront 2 to this point is also much lower than EA had wanted, since the company removed microtransactions from the game just before launch after they ignited a controversy among early players. It is not currently possible to buy “crystals,” the in-game currency, or loot crates.
EA said at launch that it would reinstate the microtransactions eventually. Jorgensen told the Wall Street Journal that in-game purchases will return “in the next few months,” although he said the publisher’s fourth-quarter guidance does not take them into account. The Wall Street Journal also notes that Jorgensen “blames the controversy in large part” for Battlefront 2’s sales shortfall.
I bought this game on 2018 but it was hard to find players to play together. Multiplayer queue takes over 30 mins. So I uninstalled the game.
Now after it is released on Steam, i can finally play this game again (although on Origin) as the players are coming back. Multiplayer does not need queue time anymore.
It is not exactly the best game out there but it is a super casual multiplayer game that ppl play for fun. Unlike Fortnite/ Overwatch/ CSGO where things can get very toxic.
I'm giving a 9/10 experience on multiplayer for this game. Recommended for those players who do not want super competitive multiplayer.
do ea planning to make another games more like jedi fallen order? Im playing now with a little to late than yall but the unreal engine did amazing job and lucasfilm still on a contract with this game yeh
anybody playing this game..i got the game through epic store ...trying to find discord player through malaysia's starwars battlefront 2 fb..but seems they are not active anymore...
