hi all sifu,

currently was planning to change tyre but the tyre shop recommend Nexen RU5.
anyone has the experience on this tyre?

originally was looking at Michelin Primacy SUV or Latitude. but very less review on it.

How about Achilles Desert Hawk? these 3 brands was suggested because:

1) Achilles = cheapest among 3
2) Nexen = was recommended by tyre shop. And price wise, the moderate.
3) Michelin = i was previous user of Michelin tyre but was on sedan car. Now change to SUV already but not sure how is the performance. This is the most expensive among these 3 brands.

my tyre size is 235/55R18 but Michelin Primacy has only either 235/50R18 or 235/60R18. Anyone tried these size before?

my concern is on safety in term of cornering and wet, quiet and comfort. now normal driving around 110kmh to 140kmh. so far no heavy load.

appreciate on all sifu feedback.

Forget about all those especially the Achilles and Nexen, those are not so good tires. Get Continental CSC5 SUV, it has your exact size, confirmed way much better than all those 3, just that you need to spend more.  smile.gif

I got phobia with Conti already. Used CC5 previously on sedan, 6 months kaput already. Then, OEM 17" MaxContact 5, noise like hell. Currently 18" wheel also using Conti. Having said that, do u mind to share ur experience on SportContact 5?

CC5 is a lousy low end range from Continental Malaysia la, no comparison! MC5 is also just mid range tire made in Malaysia also, not that good. CSC5 is Continental's top of the line tire made in Europe, rivaling the likes of Michelin PS4/PSS, Goodyear F1A2/3, & Pirelli P Zero for performance. I'm using CSC5 now for 2+ years and so far the best tire I've ever used but again in terms of performance coz I don't care about noise! I think though the noise is still acceptable, typical of such high performance tires (around 71-73db).
*
Yeah. I just read uder review and many Singaporean also says the same thing. The noise level. But performance is gooding. Do u mind to share what tyre size you are using and how much u bought?

For CSC5 I'm using 225/50/17 now, bought pretty cheap for only rm500/pc all inclusive back in Oct 2015. If you want silent high performance tires then Goodyear F1A3 but it's not available for your size.
*
Yeah. Only 50 which i think will affect the comfort which im looking for. I think it is quite the same price for Michelin Primacy SUV or less a little. Hmmm...im torn apart. Anyway, thanks for your suggestion. Conti probably i will KIV as it is quite noisy for me. So i will keep an eye for Goodyear F1A3. Still depend on pocket. Hahahaha!!

Michelin Primacy will not hold a candle to CSC5 in terms of performance but yeah probably Primacy will be a bit more silent.

F1A3 only available in 235/50/18 so smaller radius by about 6mm, so your ride height will be 6mm lower and your fender gap increase by the same too, plus your speedometer will also get overstated just a bit. Otherwise no other impact, you may even get better acceleration and FC due to using slightly smaller circumference tire. Note that F1A3 is still made in Germany so expect a premium price on it!  laugh.gif

Ffffuuu...made in Germany then can save it. Our currency so weak now. No eyes to see

Well CSC5 is also made in European countries (Germany, Poland, Czech, etc.) but still somehow I could get good price back then (MYR already weak also). No harm just to check around, who knows maybe got some promotion.

What SUV are you driving btw?

No choice liao lo...poorfag like me cannot afford premium tyre.

Another option which is much cheaper is Hankook V12 Evo 2, available in 235/50/18. This is also a pretty decent UHP tire with relatively much cheaper price for its performance capability so a good value for money. Should be cheaper than the mid range Michelin Primacy yet a higher category tire (UHP category).
*
But Hankook V12 Evo 2 i read before the performance. Somehow this tire need to warm up, meaning need to drive certain mileage then only able to unleash its performance. When it is new, they say lack of grip, etc, etc. Btw, the review i read was Australian website. Michelin Primacy consider mid range huh? Didnt know that till now. Btw, mind to share what car u r driving? U seems quite an aggresive driver. tongue.gif

Many tires are like that, need certain run in mileage but should be no issue. Yes Primacy is Michelin mid range tire, similar to Conti MC5, BS Turanza etc2. Michelin's high performance tires are the Pilot Sport range (PS3/PS4/PS4S/PSS). I just drive normal sedan, an old Toyota Mark X.
*
Mark X is powderful bro..seat inside once with 4 big sizes adult. Pickup no problem.

Hopefully Michelin Primacy SUV wun end up like Conti MX5 performace la...if not ayam sure sadding.

Maintenance of Mark X is easy coz very reliable and not expensive, certainly way cheaper than European cars.

Evo 8MR-9 were years 2003-2006, old cars but still a blast to drive and can easily rival today's modern cars' performance. I don't like most of new cars today, coz got too many electronics which complicate things. I like simpler cars but fun. There's a saying old is gold and to me these cars are. A45 IMHO is like a modern version of Evo.

Hope i got that day to enjoy those car.
