I been using Falken Ziex 522 for about 1.5 years (thailand made too) 235/45R17 so far no problem.
These tires are just all-rounders. I find them hard, and low wear/tear rate. Took the last 40% of the tread wear to sepang track. From tire wear 40% to 20% it lasted me 3 track days, and each track day i clock at least 25-30laps (hard laps).

Yes its obvious the grip is not there, the car felt hard to grip at high speed corners in turn 5, 6, and also even at turn 9 and 15 understeering all the way. However the price you pay, this the quality you get. Cannot compare to other more expensive tires, offering better grip, noise level, etc.

Currently changed to Good Year Eagle RevSpec RS-02, improvement in sepang lap times about 3-4s per lap without driving too hard too. Great tires to use, highly recommendable. Doesnt screech as hard as the falkenz too.

But one thing for sure, if I dont factor timing in lapping sepang, i had more fun with the falkenz in track. I can control when I want my rear to slide out and lock it back into the turn as I want. (Or it could be the case of using any lousy tires that has no grip)
