i have just replaced my CC5 with PS3. I am very excited to try it out on twisty roads but for now, the only corner i can test is those nearby here and due to the volume of road users and road condition, i cannot determine how well PS3 is under heavy cornering.

But as for now, PS3 is definitely more grippy than the CC5 (duh).
The corners which I use to slide through with tyres screeching away is now quite tame already smile.gif

I don't know how much u manage to do it or maybe the curvy roundabout is not the kind of roundabout that i'm imagining? Logically speaking, the roundabout here, the max speed allowable is probably 80km/h? even then, i'm expecting all four wheels to lose traction by then.

that size is a lil limited... u can try Falken 912 or Kumho ESPT...
comfort + quiet... PS3 will be better in comfort and grip as it is a replacing PP2... then if you want total comfort then Michelin Primacy LC... or even Toyo Teo Plus & CT01, duno u still can find this or not... C Drive 2 is the new arrival but C Drive also not bad...
muahaha... CC5 u can't compare a intermediate with a pro... CC5 is just for normal driving, spirited driving is not suitable for this tires... let it scrub a bit, after some time you will be smiling at the grip u gain...

Haha...michelin ps3 is quite comfortable and quiet. Not exactly what I'm looking for. I don't mind noisy and uncomfortable tyres...just gimme extra grip tongue.gif

well just give it a few more days for break-in... after that it's grip will be slightly better... not sure if it works for you but it is a good all-rounder tyres... if not u should be GSD3 already or even up 1 level to extreme tires, but extreme tires will not gives you the grip u need during wet...

haha....yeah, things are looking on the bright side for this ps3. This is after all, my first performance tyres and i am going to try out potenza the next round smile.gif

To be fair, I have not used silverstone's performance range tyres (if there is any) as I only driven my gf's proton saga with stock silverstone tyres. Compared to my neo's stock CC5, the tyre's grip limit is crazily low (to me) and if you take really sharp corners with speed, the tyres already screaming at you to stop. Not fun. Plus other reviews on silverstone especially the tyre guys makes me want to think properly whether to invest on silverstone.

Actually I don't think silverstone is in my choice, I'm now using PS3, the next tyre change should be the BS RE050 or RE001 or S1Evo

How much thread left? I wonder how the PS3 perform in the wets after being worn down to 50% or less.
*
My tyres still new and I'm still enjoying the improvement. This tyre will allow me to learn and feel my car's true potential.
Why not I let you know when my thread reaches 50% or less smile.gif

M5 i dun know. M3 is the most suck tyre ever used (although this is the stock tyre on my 1st car).

u are sure joking with me, this tyre good grip in wet? Please don tailgate my car with ur suck tyre equipped car during rainy day.

Agree bro, Silverstone M3 on BLM is just suck.

No grip at all, car like BLM with poor brake can lock this tyre easily on wet even with slightly press brake at low speed (40km/h), screaming at corner and damn noisier tyre, unbearable noisy.

The problem is no matter how i torture and cornering like mad, the thread isn't gone faster, suck tyre... doh.gif
*
So funny la. I saw your reply with a quoted statement from another user saying silverstone M3's (if this is the one which comes with BLM) grip is impressive biggrin.gif
I think you misunderstood his statement, he meant impressively challenging?

If M3 is the standard issue among BLM, I can safely say that this tyre is for my gf type of driving (even that may not be very safe) and/or uncle-aunty driving. If one were to drive fast, I also can safely say that the grip level is abysmal and if in wet, grip is almost close to a coffin-booking extravaganza.

Anyway, I agree with you, to any drivers on M3, don't tailgate me also. Flash at me and yell that you're on M3 tyres and then I'll lay red carpet and let you move. I'll even pray that you'll live 100 years old for saving my life by not tailgating me.

But if a car driven by ala Takumi style then different story already. I'll be amazed if you can corner faster / outbrake me notworthy.gif

i dont know about the M3 is stock tyre for BLM. im driving Suzuki Liana, blue colour. use this tyre already 2 years, reallx roxx. sry if my statement make u laugh but i dont have any problem that u mentioned as above. i always drive more than 120kmph (not to brag here) and this tyre really make me smile. recommend also to other ppl, seems they also agree with me. furthermore, the price of piece m3 is about RM140. correct me if im wrong here, but im not driving the BLM with stock tyre. smile.gif

Just wondering if you do hard cornering?
The price of M3 is definitely good, no doubt about it. Sometimes I drive my gf's car BLM with (I was made to understand) M3 tyres, I do above 120km/h on a highway. I doubt I will want to do that kind of speed anywhere else.
You did >120km/h on a highway or mountain runs where you do constant hard braking and cornering? That is a good place to test the grip of M3. If it can tame those roads (borrow from Hankook S1Evo), then in my humble opinion, the grip is impressive. I'm not sure if it is my driving skill because M3 started screeching at 40km/h on a very tight turn and I practically struggled with the tyre.

If highway, no point. even stock standard CC5 can take >180km/h. Even that, the grip level is unacceptable to me especially hard cornering, I ditched it after 6 months of constant nightmare struggling at a dirt cheap price aka Alex Ferguson style.

Again, in my most humble opinion, I think it is far from right to say M3's grip is impressive just because it can take you to >120 km/h.

So the question come out now. tongue.gif

I plan to change my 13" rim + tyre to 14" (Don't ask me go for 15", BLM is BLM, 15" is too heavy for this tiny car), so which tyre is recommended?

My requirement and priority,

1. Must be silent.
2. adequate grip. I won't expect too much in term of performance out of obsolete 14" tyre.

I know Michelin Energy XM1 got alot of good feedback, any others fall into my requirement? hmm.gif
*
Based on my very limited knowledge on tyres, I have used the Continental Contact Comfort CC5.
To me, the tyre is a good comfort tyre which is silent and grip is although unacceptable to my style of driving, I believe performs satisfactorily on normal point A-B daily driving.

Silverstone M3 is fine if you're just doing normal point A-B daily driving. I'm not sure if it is silent enough for you though.

i dont quite understand with bolded sentence above. i did >120km/h when cornering but no braking. its not suit my style do braking a lot especially when take corner. i just release the fuel pedal then after front tyre successfully enter the corner (need perfect timing though) then i accelerate like usual.

Sorry for the confusion.

You do 120km/h on highway or mountain road?

Anyway, maybe one day we can go to track, you with your Silverstone M3 then we'll test Silverstone M3's grip together smile.gif
Or we can go for mountain drive. Please don't get me wrong, it's not a challenge. I am curious to see whether that tyre of yours is as good as you claimed or if whether I just suck at driving or maybe there is something here that I don't know and Mr. Michael can explain tongue.gif

Well, I remain impressed that someone can actually say that a certain tyre's grip is impressive just because it can travel at 150 km/h on wet roads or 180 km/h on dry condition. If that is the case, I wouldn't have ditched my stock CC5 already.

If Silverstone Synergy M3 is impressive, then I don't have to keep drooling over the Potenzas / S1evo. If it is that impressive, my taiko would have recommended the Synergy M3.

Anyway, I am just wondering, if M3 is impressive in wet, then Michelin PS3 is what?

Maybe you want to try Silverstone SYnergy M3, some user here say its grip is impressive but I finds it terribly lacking. You go use that then englighten us la because that tyre is cheap
