what a "good replies" from upstairs. He did not how much. But "does it help much". Here's my answer... yes, it helps a lot. Especially when you have mobile mac. Can you imagine how much risk your laptop will face when u travel around with it? Don't be supprise that the screen replacement or logicboard replacement will easily cost over RM1k. Which is as much or less than what applecare will cost you. Also not to forget the 24hr technical support phone that you can make sure to solve some minor issue (which many doesn't aware). If you talk to those technician once, you'll know what makes Apple different. It's like buying insurance for your mac. Some ppl don't buy insurance. So when things happened, then will regret why they don't get it before. It's a gamble, whether or not your mac need major repair once the 1st year warranty expire. Also, having ACPP will rise your resell value.

QUOTE(tishaban @ Mar 9 2007, 05:47 PM) It's not insurance, it's extended warranty. If someone steals your Mac Apple's not gonig to give a dime to replace it we're just giving an example. even if we say it's "mac insurance" there's nothing wrong with it, since every insurance policy have it's own terms. Well if you start saving from the day 1 you have your mac. And giving you 1 week before the warranty expired to buy the ACPP. It only cost you RM2.50 per day saving to get RM899 in 358days. And then you can enjoy 2 years of sweet dream, without worrying your mac stop working next day.

QUOTE(tishaban @ Mar 13 2007, 01:32 PM) I had posted a question on one of the threads on whether to send an under warranty item to the reseller or to an authorized service provider. It went unanswered, but thanks for your clarification. I'll make sure to use VR Tech whenever I need warranty repair It doesn't matter wher eyou send it in. Eventually it will ended up one of the few service centers. VR tech will very much likely be one of them for KL-PJ base Apple Center. It's just that which one you personally prefer and convenient for you. I bought my first iPod 40GB from Penang reseller. It died on the 9th month when I'm at the parking of Tesco in Mutiara Damansara. I had it replaced by Ikano Apple Center, which is the nearest.

Well, I bought mine from US. Dirt cheap, I can't get anything close to it here. On top of that the seller shipping me the box, which contain the techtool delux boot disc. Why not

Apple should built this function into the OS. Have a reminder function on expiring warranty will be great

QUOTE(civic98 @ Aug 17 2007, 12:59 PM) Great idea You can do that with Leopard, by making the ACPP "About Your Support Coverage" part from the Apple Support website into a widget. Tried that few days ago. Doesn't seems to work everytime And I took long time to load the webclip. I hope it wont be like this on the final release.

Try to do it 1-2 week before that date on 2007. It takes some time to activate the ACPP. And also you want some buffer in case it doesn't goes smoothly.

Yes yes, some ppl prefer to buy it together with their mac. Maybe they get a better deal that way. My advice is buy it when u have the $$$. It happen to me twice that I missed the ACCP purchase because I spend the $ on something else. But lucky all the apple product I've sold it or still working fine.

it will extend to the date you found on the Apple database. Let's say, apple.com show your warranty expired on 15 Dec 2007, it doesn't matter when u register ACPP, as long as it is before that day. U get extended to 15 Dec 2009. Like i said before, some Mac owner purhcase ACPP togehter with their mac This post has been edited by wei: Sep 2 2007, 08:13 PM

QUOTE(mizuan @ Sep 3 2007, 12:15 AM) Thanks wei. Does it really matter if I dont double check the actual date of purchase and just rely on the date I found on the apple support page? Normally they are pretty close. But there're some cases that the date are so wrong that make you worried. If that's the case, just fax the original receipt clearly stated the correct date of purchase to apple. They'll make the proper adjustment to the database.
