The level of service you get at least in the US is excellent. Typically 48 hour turnaround, sometimes they do it while you wait. From what I've heard here though, service in Malaysia leaves a lot to be desired...

It's not insurance, it's extended warranty. If someone steals your Mac Apple's not gonig to give a dime to replace it

QUOTE(MacDaNife @ Mar 13 2007, 07:25 AM) What you MISheard you mean.... OK fair enough. The only reason I've not had personal experience is because I've never had any problems with my Macs that needed repair under warranty so far. I will say that my experience with Apple Malaysia sales staff (the guy, the lady who replaced him, and the nice man from S'pore) were all exemplary and professional.Don't tar everyone with the same brush. There are Mac resellers who employ salespeople who can barely spell their own name and there are Mac resellers who are extremely professional about the service they provide. As with every profession, you can hardly expect to find the same level of ability with everyone. Your job (should you choose to accept it) is to entrust your machine (and hard earned cash) to someone that engenders your trust. I had posted a question on one of the threads on whether to send an under warranty item to the reseller or to an authorized service provider. It went unanswered, but thanks for your clarification. I'll make sure to use VR Tech whenever I need warranty repair |

QUOTE(Timber @ Mar 15 2007, 09:48 AM) hey thanks for prompt reply. No, Applecare is purchased once (within the first year) and will only last up to the end of your third year. Can we extend the apple care plan to 6 years? Like this: Standard 1 year warranty + Apple care plan + Apple care plan = 6 years warranty? Sorry for asking such questions. My boss might ask me this so wanna keep all my areas covered. Btw my boss is a very gentle and careful user. His handphone lasted him 6 years and it's still in mint condition so I think his Macbook would last him a very long time. |

QUOTE(Timber @ Mar 15 2007, 12:16 PM) The standard ACPP is a boxed set, with a form + serial number, book of terms & conditions, contact info and a Techtool CD/DVD for troubleshooting. To me the only important thing is the serial number which allows you to register you machine for Applecare. You can download the Techtool CD from Apple's support site once this is done. Price wise, the typical list I see on Ebay for AppleCare is US$150-180 for Macbook/iBook. There was a time 1-2 years back when the local Mac retailers were selling ACPP for very cheap, around RM600+ for iBook level coverage but I haven't seen that recently. Standard price from Apple I think is RM979. |

Some of the ebay offers for ACPP are seriously good deals.
I wonder where they get them sometimes.... |
