Well, if you wanna count the cost of online gaming, then to be fair you also need to count the cost of a suitable TV for each console.....a 1080p TV for a PS3 will set you back another few thousand at least.... I mean c'mon, you're not gonna spend RM2K+ for a PS3 and then play it on a 21" CRT TV now, would ya? tongue.gif

I'd say that overall, a good PS3 experience is still expensive for the average Malaysian. Those people who do have a PS3, already have enough money to get the hardware to support it, so expensive or not, it's not really an issue.

You can get away with a good X360 experience for much cheaper, thanks to the VGA cable and relatively cheap widescreen LCD monitors available nowadays. The extra US$50 for Live is really nothing compared to splashing out for a 1080p TV smile.gif

Bad thing about Xbox Live service is that they don't acknowledge subcribers in some country like Malaysia which places them in some sort of grey area.

What grey area?? Most people here are happily playing on Live with no problems. Yes, they do acknowledge Malaysia as a Live country although it is not officially supported. We have our own Xbox Live ambassador here smile.gif

This is what I meant by "grey area". No legitimate local support.

What kind of "support" do you need anyways? It's an online service, not a hardware service. If there's any problem, you can just email MS or call them up. I've done it already when I canceled my Live account, and they did it no problems even though I'm in Malaysia... smile.gif

I think we should buy now to anticipate more games. You'll get the most all the feature that is supposed to have. Read this:
http://theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=38117

If you buy later, all the PS3 will have software emulation of PS2 game instead of hardware support.

So current price with best hardware PS2 support definitely make PS3 a current good buy! And its not much more expensive than Xbox360 or Nintendo Wii compare to wat you gonna get.

IMO, if I were to buy a PS3, I'd get it to play PS3 games, not PS2 games. I don't really give a damn about backward compatibility.....it'd be a bonus, it won't affect my judgement to buy. And at the moment, there's no PS3 games that really attract me, so I'll wait for later when there's more good games and the PS3's price has dropped.

See that is the problem.

I don't like the idea or registering my account with false address.

This is what I consider the Xbox Live support is "grey" area.

I registered my Xbox Live account with a fake address. And when I called up the US Xbox Live with intention to cancel the automatic renewal, I verified my fake address no problems. They didn't bug me even though it was so obviously a fake address.

They don't really care about fake address.....you're paying them US$50 per year for the service, why the heck should they care? smile.gif And nope, there's no impact on credit card either.
