Hi all,

I am new here. I've attended an interview for QA Specialist (with Christine Lim) @ DKSH recently. Am wondering how's the working environment, workload+hours, culture and conditions over there? It seems like its a 'shitty' place according to the previous posts here. But am wondering if this QA specialist is under the Biz Solutions as well? Pls enlighten me whether I should give it a try, if were to be given an opportunity. Look forward to replies soon.

Thx

Hi Newbie,

from my earlier post you should know that I am still in DKSH. I am not familiar with the QA team but my understanding is that it is a new team that is being set up under Christine. They are under the SAP team if I am not wrong. There are a couple of questions I believe you should ask during the interview to evaluate the offer:-

1) Will training be provided? If yes what type of training? If they say on the job it means bull shit and they won't provide you with anything.
2) Are there opportunities to travel? Some teams in DKSH travel a lot for e.g. the Roll-Out team. So if they offer you the opportunity you have to ask them how much travel?
3) The most important question is what is the QA department's 5 year plans or goals and what is the your career progression plan?

I mean it all depends on what you want. I mean if you are a fresh grad and it is difficult for u take get a job then DKSH is not a bad place. However if you feel that you are capable there are plenty of companies that can offer you better. I mean if you have other offers or you have a current job I would advise you to stick to the status quo the reason is because I feel that you will waste your time here and not learn as much as other companies. I have to apologize to the DKSH people for being blunt.

Most of the guai los are either top management or are in the consulting team. Therefore they have a different pay structure than the rest. Which sane guai lo would work for peanuts in Malaysia?

If you think you are MNC material, you would not stay long in this company. You can get benefits better than you can get in here. As for laptops, they are cheap to acquire nowadays. So i dont think its a big deal. Even your typical chinaman companies can afford them nowadays.

Embrangle do you think you have a inferiority complex? I don't know why but I get a sense that many Malaysians have a tendency to think the Ang Mohs are smarter than us? But the truth there is no difference apart from skin color but at the same time their pay is 2 to 3 times more than us. It is just pure discrimination.

What is so great about a company allocating laptops to their employees? You are giving me a sense that you are a "frog in a well"......I mean with no disrespect.

Hey they hiring ppl again one whole page in the star news paper. all it engineer in sap and net.. guess.. many ppl leaving again..

Who want to join this kind of company....some more they send ppl away to do project for months.. never come back.. thinks that is what you expect from mnc.

seems like they have been hiring quite often as you mentioned, really so many people leaving huh
but to list them as the worst outside there? there are still companies, MNC out there which is much more catastrophic than here cool2.gif

at least from what I have seen, the equipment and working tools (PC, table, chair, etc etc..) are all in the top class standard biggrin.gif guess that might compensate something? not sure.........

some companies out there trust me have much worst work load and working environment as compared to here, to be honest I dislike the workload distribution here when I was here, but when you finally open up your view to the real world outside you'll noticed that there are some companies which is even worst to work in and with........

work along until you cannot bear with it anymore, then find another place to fight on......

just my 2-cents...

i work for DKSH Group.

They are amongst the better mnc out there. For every critic, there will also be equal number who had/have/is gaining from the employment there. There are always 2 sides to a coin. Take every thing with a big pinch of salt but new & inexperience recruits ought to be exposed to all kind of working environ; good, bad, worst. Thats all part of a career charting exercise. We gain some , we lose some.

Some of the kwai lohs are management trainees like many of you. They earn just about the same pay as the local management trainees They share room (yes, room NOT house or condo) in even Old Klang Rd where the rental is cheaper. Many are used to eating chup-fun just like us. Yes, they too b**** about the cost of living, made worst by being far away from their home (mostly europe).

Some of the kwai loh middle managers also do not have packages that we think they have...they are all here to learn the business the Asian way. Dont forget that DKSH is a growing company esp. in Asia. Them setting up an HQ in TPM is testimonial of them staying & investing here. The choice to work there is yours to make...look around and decide.

Opportunity many a time do not knock twice.

Keith Khoo
