I recently consult a psychiatrist ( 2nd time already) about anxiety and depression issue, the meds that he gave me works but too expensive. I not sure when i should stop taking them as the doc mentioned my condition need long time to deal with ( which probably all doc will say so because they dont want out of business). Any idea i can get those meds at pharmacy @ cheaper price? It is not i dont want to trust the doc, he indeed helped me and i did feel much more better now but from business point of view, of coz he would want me to continue take meds... what do you guys think?

It is your right as a patient.

is he a doctor you can ask for prescription
bring this prescription to pharmacy, use it can buy
btw this is standard rule in USA, doctor no giv med, because of this issue so doctor only give prescription, kinda like met doctor just for consultation so the drugs you can only buy from pharmacy with doctor prescription

psychiatrists will only tell u it's lack of serotonin n make u take meds. to me this is only like numbing yourself instead of finding out what's the root of the problem and overcoming it.
if u need a more long term n deeper approach at healing yourself, try seeing a psychologist instead. they're the ones who talks and counsels u to try to make yourself understand why u r having such an issue n how to deal with it.
or, if all else fails, just go for weed man. best anti depressant ever.

Problem will be that most drug require blood count to be checked. I advise you to go to government hospital instead. I can vouch their quality of service. To go there, you need referral letter (GP) but if you have letter from your recurrent psychiatry also okay.

QUOTE(hikaru85 @ Mar 22 2017, 10:59 PM) Yup, lexapro, resicalm, ristroil, olanzapine, methycobal and ceretam. All these can easily get for free from gov hospital. Get a referral letter from your GP to your nearby gov psychiatry specialist clinic. But don't expect original meds ya. All mostly ciplak type (generic)

I don't think pharmacies sell anti-depressants here. A few days ago, I watch Shutter Island, and Wikipedia about Lobotomy. Surprisingly in the 30s to 60s, they used to prescribe psycho surgery as the front line as recovery from really severe mental illness. But about 90% of the lobotomy surgeries end up either killing their patients or rendering them into a vegetative state. If not mistaken they take some kind of surgical instrument to medically insert it between the eye and then cut the celebral connections between the frontal lobe and rest of the brain, because they think that by doing so, would severe all the emotional connections that result in the mental state.

I do appreciate all feedbacks and advise here. I do feel bad also if i buy medicine from other place which might be cheaper since the doctor did actually change my mental state significantly. Abit paiseh to ask for referral letter and buy meds from somewhere else.(maybe this is also one of my mental illness, easy to feel paiseh). But my income does not allow me to keep on meds for long-term.

QUOTE(hikaru85 @ Mar 22 2017, 10:59 PM) Yup, lexapro, resicalm, ristroil, olanzapine, methycobal and ceretam. You were prescribed ALL of these? At the same time? That's a lot of anxiolytics [the B12 vitamin the exception to the list, but still important to mental health}] to be taking. P.S. For continuing your mental state therapy, ask the psychiatrist for a referral to a licensed psychotherapist who does Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. You could try government psychiatric services, but you can just imagine the waiting, especially for psychiatric services.
