Of course the remote can work for MCE, but can you tune in to TV via MCE? Can you record shows using MCE?

Its great if you can verify then ppl can also enjoy the RM100 savings...

normally PVR 150's remote control cannot work in Windows MCE 1..... unless is PVR 150 MCE,
but now the PVR150 can work in VIsta MCE.....can control channel,record......

The problem with VISTA MCE. 3rd party app to download EPG guide will NOT work (unless someone finds a way to do it, please tell me!!). That's why i'm sticking to my Win XP MCE. If you want automated ASTRO recording, VISTA MCE just can't work. You'll have to manually record and stop the recording which just defeat the whole purpose.

btw, it's worth paying extra for the MCE remote ler. Can easily find all the MCE functions.

Also, does the normal PVR-150 comes with the bean(IR transmitter)?? If there's no "bean", how are you gonna change ASTRO channels??? doh.gif

You can only change the channel for terristial TV, not ASTRO, without the bean.

If u want to record ASTRO, only option is to use XP MCE and PVR-150 MCE edition .

Check the link in my sig on all things MCE and ASTRO.

Thats a real pity, you actually verified? Cos I also gonna try Vista MCE and see if worth to upgrade or not. The Vista MCE look is nicer than current, and more browsable...

Anyway TS, what I was asking is, can you watch TV using MCE using the standard PVR150? Thanks..

yeah, interface is nicer but the bread and butter function can't work...

Currently using BladeRunner Pro+TVXB to download EPG data on WinXP MCE. BladeRunner won't work in VISTA. TVXB does though. I've tried using another software...forgot the name...to grab the downloaded data from TVXB in VISTA...nothing works.

You can give it a try though, if u managed to do it, please tell how!!!

PS: Btw, now i'm getting to hate VISTA more....MCE won't work with 3rd party app, some problem with X-fi drivers (all beta ones), tons of apps won't run ( X-fi apps, Nero , Acronis etc...all must get new version, if no new version, totally cannot run), gaming no EAX supported in VISTA...my expensive X-fi sitting inside acting like an onboard sound card.

VISTA is nice to see, nice to play, but not something i would want to use right now.

My SBlive 5.1 totally unsupported, and my mobo drivers also no vista drivers, I don't think I'll embark on a project to upgrade if the failure is gonna be very likely.
For now MCE2005 will suffice thumbup.gif

I'm trying to highlight that u can't get scheduled ASTRO recording with the standard PVR-150 so that people who's looking to buy one for ASTRO won't buy the wrong product.

Also, i'm not quite sure if there's any price different now. The new retail MCE-kit package is only RM399.(all IT hypermarket)

Old stock PVR-150 is still around that price (it's still RM399 according to CZONE pricelist and RM440 for the 150-MCE). Seems like the old hardware/stock with same or less features are selling at same price with the new package(with bean bag and MCE-Remote). If i remember correctly, ALL IT hypermarket also seeling the old stock around this price (same or higher!!)...seems like lwaiting for waterfish who can't tell the difference to clear stock......Which do you want to buy now?? laugh.gif

Yep, VISTA MCE also detect my Hauppage PVR-150 MCE fine.

The WINTV software is not for the PVR-150 MCE i believed.

btw, those looking for cheap PVR-150 MCE should try PCZONE. Their price listed as RM330 only!!! Dunno got bean bag or not but must check it out if u intend to buy one.

Tipu orang one. No such item there. Cheapest is Viewnet @ RM388 so far... oem with box.

From the forums still cannot see any real success for Bladerunnerpro + TVBX for Vista, maybe wait for new version to come out?

Even my Hauppauge WinTV non-PVR can support MCE, but not the TV function. And all Hauppauge remote, can be configured to work with any program by editing the irremore.ini.

how do you get the remote to learn you Astro's remote functions? cause mine cannot seem to detect my Astro remote signals which it needs for the the Hauppage remote to work.

also, what model is the Astro decoder? i'm not even sure of the make / model which you're meant to specify

this is for Windows Vista Ultimate + Media Center btw

Just got myself the PVR-150 MCE Kit (which is cheaper than the PVR-150 MCE - err. by RM100). The video out from my newly built HTPC seems a bit choppy.. no idea if this is caused by the PVR-150 or the built-in HDMI .. playing xvid file seems to be alright though.

Anyway, to question by Pimpin, I need to let the PVR-150 (or I guess the Win XP MCE) to relearn the remote. This is the new mini-astro decoder .. heard that the XP MCE could detect the old astro remote.

I get slightly choppy playback ocassionaly if I play HD Quicktime clips, and some HD WMV clips. I suppose that is because I am using VGA cable to connect to my LCD TV. Will be getting a DVi2HDMI soon to see if that helps.

I think the RM100 cheaper is the bulk package (no fancy box but who needs it)

There are two versions actually, one is the PVR-150 MCE (comes with FM tuner) and the newer one is PVR-150 MCE Kit (does not have FM tuner). The former is around RM499 at the moment, but the MCE Kit could be had for RM399.

I've resolved the choppy playback using different DVD decoder, was previously using PowerDVD which comes with my LG DVD/RW, changed it to Nvidia PureDVD decoder and it seems to be alright now. May need to find an encoder which tailored to ATI X1250 when I got time.

BTW, I'm using HDMI cable to connect the HTPC to my Samsung R7 LCD TV. Playing XVID file seems to be alright.. so, I guess this is actually the DVD decoder problem.
