Even upgraded T72 now can shoot a moving target while driving.

Not very well apparently brows.gif
QUOTE
BTW bigger gun just mean better penetration and not longer ranger. Normalized tank to tank engagement more often doesn't exceed 3km away
*
Yeah, the penetration is the key here brows.gif
Although 140mm would have even better artillery fire options brows.gif

Pretty much to answer my own question, i strongly believe cost would have the main deciding factor instead of technological factors.
*
Pretty much. I think there's a blog post somewhere out there claiming the Defence Minister then in charge (Najib iinm) commented bluntly, its all we can afford for that batch number... the alternative could have been, well, 10 M1 Abrams... like the Air Force... brows.gif

QUOTE(marfccy @ May 28 2017, 04:57 PM)
i think another issue would be how our army doctrine works?

i think the higher ups have thought that we dont need heavy MBTs, instead relying more on cheaper medium MBTs? hmm.gif

Haven't you noticed, Msians especially our govt have got very strong fox and sour grapes syndrome? If they are unable to get something they will say it is not suitable, highlight all its negative points, etc.... tapi dalam hati... brows.gif

The soldiers and officers are working with what they are given, and I respect that. But the people who say things like "Leopards can't operate in our terrain" and "Western equipment is too expensive" and "what about RPGs in Lebanon, huh?" are being idiots brows.gif

Russian economy is in the red after all, so it's understandable if they'd rather have hard cash than palm oil right now

Also, if we say, want to pay 100 million dollars in palm oil, we might had go give them 110 million dollars worth of palm oil to sweeten the pot as well as to compensate fluctuating commodity prices
*
Correct me if I'm wrong, but is MH017 still an issue in this area?

QUOTE(xtemujin @ May 29 2017, 08:36 PM)
SOTF examples of the MP7 were seen with a silencer and an EOTech or Trijicon red-dot sight mounted on a Picatinny rail.

Shephard understands that the MP7 was inducted by the SOTF in the last 1-2 years, although they also use the FN Herstal P90 depending on the type of operations. The unit also prefers the HK416 assault rifle, which comes in 10-inch and 14-inch barrel versions, and the smaller-calibre FN Five-SeveN as its sidearm.

ST Kinetics has also developed a Compact Personal Weapon, with conversions for either 9mm, 5.7mm or 4.6mm rounds. Shephard understands that the weapon is currently under production.

^ VERY similar to US SEALs' weapon choices

got drillz of STK's Personal Weapon?

Don't really need assistant the way we use our RPGs, which is more like LAWs than real ATGMs

The gunman killed himself after bursting into the casino, firing shots and setting gaming tables alight, Philippine police said. His motive was likely robbery and not terror-related, police added.
(snip)
Kimberly Molitas, a spokeswoman for the capital's police office, said 113 million Philippine pesos (US$2.27 million) worth of casino chips stolen during the raid had been recovered.

Hey bunny, seems to me SG Air Force should spend more time on naval strike practice rather than defeating conventional armour column, ya think?

there is a pic circulating saying that these ph army "cardboard armor" defeated an rpg warhead  rolleyes.gif
highly doubt it as at/heat warhead blast and pressure alone would blown off the cardboards or set it on fire
its either a dud or a 50cal/gpmg hit instead, just kinetic energy and splinters, no fire and pressure effect seen

provided it is at a stand-off distance, not slapped directly on top of the hull (as in this case laugh.gif), in which the wood probably does nothing in terms of protecting against HEAT warheads .
