yeah the 8003Lci, is roughly 2.9Kg

the new Pentium M processor with product code 7XX is actually the successor to the Banias core, dubbed Dothan.

main diff? the new Dothan has 2MB of L2 Cache, cool.gif while the Banias has only 1MB L2 Cache loh...futhermore from some benchies seen on some websites, it was said the power management(a.k.a Enhanced Speedstep)has improved too other than the performance.

wait or no wait, is again up2 consumers.

cheers. just my 2cents.

tongue.gif What about stability? Did any of ur people think of this? What happen if u r in the middle to decrypt an encryption but because of stupid hanging scenario come in place, u waste all ur effort to break a 3DES algorithm which maybe spending 1 - 2 days. Who can lead the path to performance stableness? wink.gif

ANNOUCEMENT

Just doing my part for the community...
Esp for those people that are looking at Dell notebooks (AND PC'S) but think they are too expensive to buy compared to an Acer.. this is perfect for you..

They will match the price of any other notebook (frm multinational companies of coz) in the market if u can find a dell system with the same specs! thumbup.gif blink.gif

RM100 DellTM PRICE CHALLENGE

If you can find a lower advertised price for a system of the same specification and configuration as a DellTM DimensionTM Desktop, DellTM InspironTM Notebook or DellTM PowerEdgeTM Server currently available and quoted by Dell from selected major multi-national vendors, we will better their price by RM100. Valid until 1 October, 2004.

Link Here!

I've already Price Matched a Dell 8600 with a Acer Aspire 1681WLCi
Can get a Dell 8600 for RM5300 (Without DVD Burner of coz)
Too bad they took the config page for the Dell 8600 off the web rite after I called vmad.gif
[Correction Dell has just updated the price of the Dell 8600.. Now its pretty cheap for such a good notebook! Nice drool.gif ]

If you feel that this has helped u so much and I need to thank me. Feel free to bank in RM 50 into my bank account! tongue.gif lolz Just PM me

true2...

buying a notebook is all about buying a brand...

i used to have a toshiba satellite..very reliable..and faster than other notebooks in its class..

and also don't forget reputable brand means they have steady and tough construction...go and see urself..

3 brands that i confirm ok..

fujitsu
toshiba
IBM
*
buying a notebook is ALL about buying a brand?
then, its sad to say u have fall prey to a marketting scheme tongue.gif laugh.gif

fujitsu: yeah sure they are nice, but expensive for the specs they offer. (we are talkin bout the expensive models here, the lower-end specs, hehe same with other brands only)
toshiba: lebih kurang sama (but their CSV-enabled series quite nice)
ibm: isn't it the time for another new design? tongue.gif (yeah they are solid and sturdy)
acer: the new line of laptops with mob 9700 (When it comes to price....Acer is downright cheap for branded notebooks) brows.gif

lets say ur fren is looking for a notebook with discrete and powerful graphics, and his budget line is so and so, dun tell me u gonna recommend "Fujitsu rocks as Alwiz" even tho it's with shared memory architecture for graphics and the price over his budget? back then laptop with discrete graphic on board is considered premium or high end, now this has change with mid level laptop with the same specs. wat u pay is wat u get, choose wisely.

cheers. just my 2cents. tongue.gif

yeah..yeah i'm  fallen  into a marketting scheme tongue.gif laugh.gif

but u must remember... notebook is never suitable for graphic workstation...

am i right..? if u want powerful graphic workstation then buy an SGI workstation ..and 21 inch crt..much better right..
why must u waste ur effort and money into tiny power and tiny screen eventhough it has mobility raddy 9700 inside..

notebook is only suitable for spreadsheet, a little game, internet apps..and other lighter apps.. so think wisely..

people buy notebook bcos of its mobility...therefore solid construction of the body is a must..   cool.gif

mana tau ur lcd crack bcos of accident since the back cover of the lcd too flimsy .... who knows..  whistling.gif
if u really want real graphic power with mobility( i don't believe it) then just settle for apple powerbook..  whistling.gif

i didn't say ACER is not good.. i know acer is offering good performance/value...

so it depends on ur budget..if u can afford a high-end toshiba/fujitsu then go ahead...if u cannot then just settle for a good bargain notebook...  wink.gif

dun flame me..hehehhe..  tongue.gif
by the way i'm laughing when i'm reading this  "Fujitsu rocks as Alwiz"
*
hmm...i neva mention workstation graphic in the 1st place. rolleyes.gif
and i'm also neither bias nor supportin any certain brands.

pay that much amount of many but still stuck with Intel Extreme/ATI shared/Gefore Go graphics? lol, not really a wise way 2 spend for a 'high-end' laptop.

fujitsu: only one model AFAIK with ATI M11 64MB, E8010, RRP RM7988
toshiba: erm Satelite M30-7301,731 & s760B(GeForce GO fx5200 w/32/64MB) RRP RM5999, RM6999 & RM8599

weight wise they are around 2.8kg~3.0kg...hmm are they any lighter?
Sony Vaio S (PCG-S18GP ) is light! tongue.gif RRP RM8488 tho with its measly ATI M9 32MB

ermm..it's not me who said "Fujitsu rock as Alwiz", just quotin it from someone else whistling.gif

cheers. just my 2cents.

went to lowyat few days ago ask for notebook thing .....
notice most of the shops are recommeding asus , benq , and essential ,aris ... are these brands getting lower cost so they can mark up more than other brand ?? hmm .... some really quite attractive ..but the problem i scare they are from taiwan and not famous well known brand ..got problem then die ....afterall i'm paying quite a lot of money wohhhh biggrin.gif
actually ..just thinkin of getting 1 around 4k .... centrino other thing is ok lo ...if got udner 4k then best ...not for gaming also ... just online for quite a long time .... hmmm anyone ... how ?
*
well, FYI most of the ODMs/OEMS are from taiwan & China. xcept fujitsu and sony are made in japan IIRC.

and wat do u mean Asus, Benq getting lower cost in order to mark up more?
price vary becoz of configuration/specifications and also the built/design.

Asus, HP, Fujitsu, Benq and some other are well known brand.
Aris, Essential are quite new to the market, estabalished locally IIRC.

Looking for a Centrino below rm4k? try ur luck with Aris, Essential, Prestigio, Hyundai M-Life, Techdos (if i left out any brand...sorry la, can't remember all) tongue.gif
Twinhead AMD based laptop also got.

or how bout Celeron M based notebooks, basically it's a crippled Pentium M Banias core, with 1/2 of the L2 cache and also advance power saving feauter. Acer has some, price vary from rm3.6k~rm4.4k

cheers. just my 2cents.

which parts does compaq made itself?
IIRC optical drives used in laptops are mostly from Toshiba Samsung(merged), Quanta, Teac wihle the HDDs mostly are from Toshiba tongue.gif

HP Compaq do not manufacture any parts of laptop, they outsourced this model nx7010 a.k.a x1423 to Compal.
