Finally, after surveyed and get quotation for more than 6 contractors,
I deicided to use this contractor which recommended by forumer pm here.
He is the cheapest among my survey.

This friendly contractor name is Mr Koh, Company is Winner Steel from klang, 019-3264809
I got mr koh contact at 10am, text him at 11am, and he managed to come all the way from klang to cheras in 2 hrs.
heavy rainning somemore, so efficient and good attitube.

The most crucial points are good workmanship + Reasonable price + Superb service.

Nice, thanks for sharing.

I'm planning to do awning for my balcony area, almost the same sqft as you did. However, my budget is kinda low and I can't be putting pillars since I've already have corner lamps on each side at my balcony.

Any idea what might be cheaper options than Polycarbonate?

For poly it will not make noise, or can say very less noise, only those zink type will make noise during rain.

my one is without pillar too, cheaper option is those zink type.
i think only less than rm10 psf.
but drawback is not that nice in looking and will make noise during rain.

hi guys, has any of your polycarbonate awnings cracked before? Mine has cracked as a result of the sun, after a few years. So I'm not sure if I want to use polycarbonate anymore or the noisy zinc awnings. Any other choice of materials out there, besides glass?

There are newer and thicker polycarbonate now. Regardless they will still be noisy if it's raining or weather is hot. I opted for glass. Still the best imho

Please see my other thread "Cost of Renovation Items". My awning is currently under installation. Note that I chose translucent glass as it will block the sun and won't be so hot for my laundry machines which are outdoor in backyard

I requested for quotation to replace old metal deck awning with new (also metal deck type) for area size about 18 x 7 ft. The contractor quoted RM5,500 which I think is too expensive. Can anyone advise whether this price is reasonable?

If you don't mind, let me know what is the reasonable price for metal type awning for area size approx 18 x 7 ft including dismantling the old metal type awning. I have attached the metal type sample photo from Lazada.

Hi, thanks for your response. I am staying in Klang if you do serve this area. Before I invite you for site visit, may I know roughly how long it will take for such works? Recently there were few in my neighbourhood did the awning works, some contractors tend to do few hours a day then not coming the next day so taking long time to complete. My concern here is mainly because I need to find place to park my cars. If contractor takes a long time to do, I will have problem for parking.

Looking to build an awning 24 by 20 or 24 by 15 for car porch area. No pillar if possible.

Not familiar with the materials but looks like polycarbonate awning is the way to go. Mainly to park car under it and dry clothes under the sun.

If you don't create any problem for the neighbour, no one will bother - I guess.

But, if your neighbour complains, you have to be careful. Famous case at Subang Jaya
