Does all car steering wheel get heavy when you drive above 100km/h?

I rarely drive about 100km/h, yesterday I notice the steering wheel gets really heavy after I hit 120km/h, goddamn it is fun when cornering on high speed on empty highway.

Cars with Electric Power Assisted Steering tend to have variable assist.. high assist during low speed and low assist when speed picks up..

Hydraulic Power Assisted Steering usually have linear assist at all speeds.. depending on the design.. some design also have variable assist..

If i remember correctly it should be 90 or slightly below. I always press until 2k rpm to try saving more fuel, but anyway overall mixed driving i get only 11-12/1L. Which is high i guess

IINM I think the clutch pedal itself can be adjusted its height to get short/long press accordingly.

Thanks for your reply...yup, keeping the rpm near 2k is sufficient to get the car moving up to the desired speed...anything more is just a waste of fuel...

based on my experience with 1.3 MT, driving around 2-3k is the best. Normally get >12km/l.
PS: i normally stick to 3+ where often I drive at 120km/h.

Yea, max is 3k rpm. above that considered not fuel economy anymore.

cruising at highway 2k is achievable la but rural/city area road hardly can do. later you got train behind you tongue.gif

Average at 2k rpm, is more than enough unless u want pick up power.
2k is smooth driving until 80-90, more then need higher rpm, uphill is different ofcourse.

Wow...this is great...but it looks a tad slow...is the road flat or small slope like going up hill?

It is slow.. flat road..

The VT2 box is not a great cruiser..
VT3 on the other hand.. 90kmh @ 2100 or 2300 rpm i think..

OBD speed tends to show slightly lower speed compared to the dashboard. Sometimes when I am traveling at 130km/h but obd says im driving at 12Xkm/h.

The dashboard speedo is over reporting.. check with ur gps.. and you'll know.. obd speedo reads from the Vehicle Speed Sensor..

16km/h seems like a lot under reporting...but guess well be safe from AES that way.. Hahahhaaa...

P/S: The in dash GPS has been calibrated to follow speedo...

Thanks for the effort placed in replying...

The reason I'm asking is because there was an update to my 2014 Iriz 1.6E CVT when I went for 30k serviced last Sat..

The car response is very similar to Persona based on my test drive memory.. Initial lag from standstill is very minimal now and the car is more eager to lunge forward...but what I noticed was previously i was able to cruise at 90km/h @2k rpm along LDP but now is about 2.2k rpm after update..

According to SA and technician, both ECU & TCU have been updated...or maybe it's also due to the fully synthetic that I switched to from semi synthetic...
