sigh
always a risk to buy first batch car, some more is proton..
I am happy with their products, but those small issues everywhere is what stop owner from enjoying and feeling proud of their cars
imagine you have to fetch a fren that you keep on boasting how good your iriz is before and when he went into the car, all he sees and hears are those old skool radio sound and tikus! malu la!!! bangwall.gif

i feel u. iriz is good no doubt but all this small problem wash away its reputation. last time i pick up my lil bro and he notice the noise coming from aircond belt. i explain the source of the sound etc. then he made an "ok" face. laugh.gif. after that drove for 10 min and there was the infamous mouse rattling sound. another explanation need to be done laugh.gif.

even my wife always asked me the aircond belt noise everytime i on the aircond doh.gif

So far the 2017 batch is good. Door closing better than persona elegant.. Air-conditioning nob also like Mazda or Honda. Not like Gen 2 or Proton Iswara hatchback.
Everything is fine only HU need to change.. hahaha

Driving KL to PG. The sound proof is good compare those day

SC Larkin mess around as they wrongly flash the firmware. The flash new one but next time they check still old firm ware. Fail big time I guess. They end up take out HU unit and send to Penang. They promise 2 weeks lead time. So 2 weeks w/o music.. haih..

Will update later
*
So you mean the previous HU version will have a new firmware? If the SC Larkin installed properly then the HU should function well and now we can play DVD while driving...Thanks for the update. Hope they fix yr HU.

Earlier I complaint my HU's clock always reset to 00:00 like everyday. So end up they flash new firmware which they claim the latest one. After the flash reverse camera stop working and 2 of my front go silent. Only DVD player working even in D gear. Not sure it is a bless or not.

That's why I went back and complaint. But after they checked they found the firmware was reset to previous one. They re do the flash but the result is the same. So that's why the send my HU to Penang. Hope my case will be solved.

My repair or replacement so far..my iriz premium

1. Water cap missing. Replace new one with a cost.
2. Water pressure so low do front wiper. No water came out for rear wiper. SC fix it.
3. Casing for rear plat light/lamp broken. Replace new under warranty.
4. IP Kit installed after complaint rating issue at dashboard.
5. Safety lock at rear passenger broken. Replaced new under warranty.
6. Vibration issue at idling engine running. Replace new 2 mounting under warranty.
7. Noise sound when open side mirror. Have order to replace with a new side mirror under warranty.
8. Reverse camera stop functioning. Have order to replace with a new camera under warranty.
9. HU unit hang and cause 2 front speaker malfunction. Sending to Penang for fix under warranty.
10. Rear bonet won't close properly. SC fix it.
11.oh one more.. paint job. My front bumper paint was peel out when received the car. Cost borne by SA nway.

wah.. my list quite long oso.. haih..

IP kit is like cigarettes buts size, to pad some gap at your dashboard try to solve some ratling issue.

the issues I have are little not major in this good car.. the one bother me is QC. At factory as well as SC. But kudo to Proton pay a great deal not to have major flaw. Yes, too many small issue could be trouble some. Proton must to improve this in order to be a producer of reliable car.

want to change over myvi... neh..
But i hope for improvement of little issue.. I really do.

Thanks for the picture thumbsup.gif

So there ARE 2 obvious separate wires. That makes any DIY upgrades a no-brainer. Unfortunately I only saw 1 wire on mine doh.gif

Haha not sure but I believe that perhaps a visit to Mr. DIY is best.

I am one of here who changed HU to aftermarket unit. In terms of brand choices there are plenty to suit your taste in design, functions, and budget. Never go wrong with mainstream, western or japanese brand, but wish you got lucky with unknown China brand. These unit have so many functions at half a price of equivalent mainstream brand.

I myself got it but from reputable and well-known mainland brand. 5 months so far still happy user (touch wood)  grin.gif

I also installed reverse cam like this.

It was easier for installation process, no need to drill on bumper. The only gripe I have is the fact that this is IR-sensitive (night vision) camera, when its dark the heater element on the rear window shows up brightly, obstructing in view  . Also need to keep clean the window too as dust will blocking most of your view. But all this only at night. Daylight works perfect. I suggest if you want to install inside cabin better get non-IR camera sweat.gif

Interesting what you've done. I'm thinking of a front collision camera in case of accidents and noise insulation in the car. Wonder whether you've done any work like that.

I read a lot of negativities in this column. Well my little Iris has been with me over a year now...
Small irritations like noise from dashboard.. For me, that's about it.
The fist oil change..I went full syn..7000 and I changed my tyres to Yokohama's AD08R.
These two combo really makes the car go... Handling of the Iris is just wonderful... For a fee f course.

kindly share us where you get those and how much damage of your wallet  rclxms.gif ..plan to do also.. cool2.gif

shop from their website. google "carjoying". HU + its DVR Cam alone cost me about RM1.4k. Reach Malaysia kena custom tax another rm200. sweat.gif Sent to installation another rm100 or so hmm.gif
Worth the spend for me, its fully functional android, currently updated to almost vanilla marshmallow fw. Nougat incoming soon. cool2.gif

QUOTE(khairilyazit @ Jul 14 2017, 12:17 PM)
How is the audio output? good, adequate, or subpar?

If direct output I think good enough for casual listening, stock speakers are leave much to be desired anyway.
I went for external amp-driven component with subs. heaven and earth difference brows.gif

do the steering controls still work?
-can work, can remap whole buttons I suppose but me Std only no buttons  cry.gif

how about the reverse sensor? change? or use back?
-Reverse sensor didn't touch anything, works as stock. Actually has nothing to do with HU

Do i need to wait for the unit to turn on before the reverse camera is available?
-Almost instant! Regardless whether it in reboot (10secs+ bootlogo to home screen) or fast boot (2secs+ wake to home screen) it will display reverse view instead.

Yes I did installed together with same brand DVR camera. Its automated, HU-dependent type. Setting and live recording accessed through app in HU. Clean setup, as no cig-charging cable dangling to camera issue like any other standalone kind of car DVR/action cam. laugh.gif

Soundproofing ideally I'd love to have but not sure if its worth to throw 1k~2k cash just for 10~20% NVH drop only(?) hmm.gif

That's a given. Most reason people come talk in forum, fb groups are to complain something, want to share their frustration, etc regardless what car model or brand out there. Since proton is more affordable choice for average malaysian the numbers of owner's activities surely higher. biggrin.gif

Doesn't help when every journalist says it's a "do or die"/game changer/best ever made model from Proton and yet, still comes with so many common issues already linked to the brand..
