Never played any mario kart games before but I did invested plenty of time in CTR - Crash Team Racing

Can't wait to play again. Battle mode gameplay looks really fun and there is a bunch of modes to play which should have been in the original game.

Blue, Orange and now Purple boost? Sign me up. And also the double power up which makes things challenging and frustrating lol

2 players on a single joycon? You mean 1 player for each joycon.. sure. Left joycon player 1, right joycon player 2.
And Pro controller makes it 3 players. Possible and Nintendo games most of them are local multiplayer and it support splitscreen.

Probably in a few days after everyone got used to the game we can start tournament every night at 9pm till midnight.

First thing you must do before starting anything in the game: turn off that sissy Smart Steering. It's ON by default.

Smooth as good as the Wii U version, probably a little bit better, but not much difference in comparison.

On dock 1080p and 60fps. Undock is like 720p and 60fps, pretty good.

Heard 2 player still 60fps, but when it's 3-4 local player it drops to 30fps which is still good for splitscreen local multiplayer.

The definitive version of MK8 indeed! I prefer this version over the emulated 4K MK8 WiiU version I've played with texture packs. Blazing though Grand Prix now, and the split JoyCon controls is a godsend!

There's some missing particle effects in Bowser's Castle, compared to the WiiU version, but almost imperceptible when you're zipping around the lava pits. I rather them keep the fast pace 60fps with sacrificing the post processing effects.

Urghhh, I hate the Excite Bike track. That NASCAR-like track makes it easy to get bombarded by shells when you're up front!

Battle mode is pretty lit! Having a lot more fun in that instead of normal racing

do you guys use auto steering on online racing?

when i have it on i found myself always 8-12th, when i turn off i could stay 1-5.

there could be compromise in speed for the auto steering

You turn all assist mode off, the right way to play.

Hows the split joycon controls like? I forget to bring my grip to overseas

50cc completed. Low speed fun, a good refresher. Too easy.
I'm biased towards F-Zero tracks like Big Blue and Mute City. Eyes tear up when I hear those remixed music tracks. Nintendo, Day freaking Pne for me if you revive F-Zero for Switch.

The only way to play, baby. I grip my controller when playing, and split Joys give a meaty surface to grip while split. Something feels off when playing with the Grip shell. Gonna try the Pro controller at home later.

Finally managed to get my copy! Been waiting for this game since the release of the console! My last MK is MK7.. this version of MK definitely a huge stepup compre to that 1, awesome graphic, awesome performance and lastly, awesome for everyone in the family! It's almost like a dream to play MK8 in portable......

Played online, got wrecked everytime
Hbe to brush up my skills

100cc halfway done. Difficulty and salt level/annoyance quickly ramps up as you climb the CCs. Made harder since I'm targeting all 1st place on all tracks on all GPs.

Only if it's japanese players... the hard one to beat.

Just finished the second last Cup races in the LRT. While standing. In a moving vehicle. It should be easy for MK8D players since the game is about multitasking. And thinking ahead.

Holy shit, I thought I had it made, cruising so easily past 50 and 100cc. Got my ass handed to me on 150cc. It's easy to get first place point wise overall, but there's always some asshole stopping me from getting all 1s in all 4 races in a Cup.

been trying to play online.. but my experience got ruined by the wifi connection.. trying to find suitable lan adapter for much stable internet connection.

Gold Mario. Careful though. He's heavy. Depending on your kart config, its handling won't be the same after this. Especially evident if you're playing 200cc. 150cc and below is more forgiving.

Won my first online match. It's a mad scramble and you can basically throw your smooth racing lines out of the window, it's a matter of who has what powerups that's matters more than who races smoothly. Even when I was ahead, always glancing at the map to see if anyone at the back of the pack is salty enough to unleashed the shitty blue shell or lightning.

So frustrated, after last game on tournament only unlock airship lol. Took so long. Now perfect with Bowser.

I've tried both global & regional. Both are fun. Even though got beaten each time, testing my MK skills is what matters to me. Regional is harder cos it's full with Japanese players. For global at least I think I still have some hopes to not be in the last place, haha!

My regionals are full of Aussies, only see Japanese in worldwide. And I find the Europeans, particularly from Germany harder to beat than the Japanese.

U play with motion control on or off?

Cause in public areas, won't it attract attention.

Splatoon 2 and Arms are casual game yes but they are also online games, unless you happen to have a lot of data to spend, handheld online is not the best way. As for indie games, a lot of them are not coming to Switch, might as well play it on a laptop.

If you're not getting Zelda with the Switch.... then there's no point getting the switch at all as all other games are not nearly as good as this.
If you want portable indies, you might as well just get a Vita.

As a game, Zelda is pretty good. This is the first Zelda I've played in 10 years and I must say there is a very strong reason why this is the strongest GOTY contender.
It's very well polished. IMO, more so than most RPG on PS4 lately (which are already great in their own right)
I don't think time is a problem though. You can literally save and fast travel anytime you want.

MK8 deluxe is great, I bought it yesterday via the Jap E-shop.
Technically my first mario kart game, but I've been playing similar games on the PS1 and PS2 many many years ago.
Although it's not exactly worth the full price and I don't there will be a sale anytime soon for the Switch.

Due to me travelling outstation frequently, I'm looking for alternative.

Ic. Well, from what I've searched about switch game list so far, I'm already satisfied. I'll worry about 2018 and beyond when it comes. as working adult with commitments, time is limited after all

I've only played once mario kart in wii that I rented. Vita is no longer supported from Sony, so not really futureproof

I've only played the retro times Zelda and I'm more of final fantasy fan. Which FFXV is a fun game but story wise a disappointment. I'll consider about BOTW, thanks!

Well...Without the AAA titles, the switch is just an overpriced vita at the moment. It will change in the future, but if so.... you might as well get it in the future.

Having spent 60 hours + on both games.
I say Zelda botw is far more polished than FF15.
While FF 15 requires patches and in some ways feel like an unfinished game, botw is not.

I still like the lore, characters and the world FF is in, but it just feels incomplete. Esp the second half.

Go ahead and try. Besides, you will want a game to show off the switch prowess and keep you company during long trips.

There's a reason why BOTW is the highest rated game in metacritic. To me, mario kart & splatoon are AAA titles for Nintendo,haha.

Splatoon, sold 4 million copies on dead wii u console & is now an esports

Hardly any bad games from Nintendo tbh.
Every game by them are basically quality game.
If I count the game time my Wii U actually has more game time than the PS4.
Monster Hunter, Mario Kart, Splatoon and Xenoblade X, most played game on it.
I even have all the Nintendo games released on Wii U.

All the exclusives are way better than PS4, don't care about multiplat games, I have a PC for that.
If I count what game I played the most it would be Destiny and FFXV but not enough to be as near as Wii U interms of game time.

Wow, you still can laugh. Other gamers will rage quit & blame developers for unbalance game. Haha

I tried 200cc offline and online play. Even with smart steering, it's difficult

well, if you've played the previous mario kart games, it's the norm

frustrated? yes
but rage? no
it's just a game, no point raging over a game

Also, I take the last few places at the back as the most interesting position to be: where else can you pack so much firepower (blue shells, invulnerability star, bullet bills, crazy 8, orbiting 3 red shells) compared to the guy at the front which the game keeps giving shitty coins because and had to press ZL to keep his ass covered? Plus, more often than not, the person at the back determines who wins the match, he can launch that blue shell, sometimes just enough to hit the person at the front, just a few meters from the finish line, causing the rest of the hungry pack behind him to catch up, and unleash a barrage of red and green shells, enough to drop him from first place to 8th place. I'm speaking from experience.

The person in second place, I call him the "opportunist". He'll be just behind enough away from the blue shell blast radius, and he keeps a red shell or mushroom handy just for that sneaky chance to hit the guy at the front or speed past him when the blue shell appears on the map. Pro tip: if you're at the front and a blue shell appears, consider slowing down enough to let the poor sappy idiot at 2nd place to overtake you and watch him take the blue shell in your place.

So.....much......strategizing.
